I have a BLACK thumb, so no freggie-garden for me. Honestly! I know my limits when it comes to growing things. Just put river rocks & cactus in my planter across the front porch...LOL!

But, I will pay the extra $$$ for fresh 'organic' at the store; or try to hit up the local farmer's market when I can.

Fight a zombie or a vampire? (Sorry, so silly...happens to be the conversation on my morning radio show right now.)

That's the exact answer I expected from you Elizabeth emoticon I always wore my hair long... it's very fine but I have a lot of it. When young, if my mom didn't up it up in rags, for Shirley Temple curls, it was in a pony and YES I know all about the headaches that can cause!!! I cut it short short when the 4 kids were young then back to long... it's funny I just finished cutting it short again before I logged on emoticon It makes me feel sassy emoticon

When it comes to "cute" casual shoes (think spring/summer flats, sandals, etc.)....
...open-toe or closed-toe?

Open toe with sandal's toenails polished... makes me feel like a girl emoticon

Freggie garden or store bought?

Well, one thing is for sure...I have HAIR! Healthy, thick, long, and a ton of it (thanks to both my parents having "MEGA-Hair"). It is one thing I have always been able to say I like about myself. So, I try to wear it down to "show it off" as much as possible (I would rather show-off my hair than, let's say, my legs or cleavage...LOL). I can straighten it out or curl it up...it holds either style very well.

Having said that....as a mother with 3 young kids, you will find it in a ponytail more often than not these days. It definitely has to go up when I am working out, and on the weekends it is pretty much up Friday to Sunday while I am running around with the kids. Only down-side to long, thick hair is that those ponytails can cause some vicious headaches! I guess I am used to it by now, though. My worst habit when it comes to ponytails, is leaving it up too long, or overnight. When I finally take it down the next morning I can hear it breaking-off when I pull out the rubberband.

When it comes to "cute" casual shoes (think spring/summer flats, sandals, etc.)....
...open-toe or closed-toe?

P.S.--I have a funny story about this one that I will share after I get a reply...

Well, I am going to take your lead in splitting up food choices by season...

Mexican food for Summer...nothing like sipping Margaritas on a hot summer evening in the backyard (along with some chips and fresh-made guacamole before laying out the taco-bar!)

Italian is popular in Winter in my household. Plus, we always do Italian food for our Christmas dinner. Don't know why...not in the least % Italian, but we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the food...and wine!!!

Spring. I do love Winter (when we actually have one :), but Spring...Oh, Spring just makes me feel so 'alive'. Love the sunny, mild temps....the breeze....the new growth of the earth...and most of all the time change!!! That means more hours to play outside with the kids after work. Plus, it also means one season closer to summer....and vacation! emoticon

Yes, we are quietly happy at home most years, too. Wow, Linda, not only do we have the same SP Anniversary, but sounds like our wedding anniversaries are just days apart, too. Mine is Dec. 30....imagine that!?!

I try not to wait until New Year's to make resolutions...you know the old, "why put off 'til tomorrow what you can do today". If I feel the need to work on something in my life, I try to start ASAP no matter what time of year. But, I think New Year's is a good time to reflect in general on what is working and what is not working in your life so you can begin an 'adjustment' plan if needed.

Quiet New Year's Eve at home, or party out 'til you drop!?!

Never really went out for New Years.... always hosted. But now we like to keep it intimate especially since it's just three days after our wedding anniversary. We have a lot to reflect on each year and look forward too so we enjoy each other and kill a bottle of good Champagne.... stay up late and sleep in because we can!!!!!!

Do you make New Years resolutions? emoticon

LOL...your question makes me chuckle...more on that in a minute. But, first, I just had to comment on your reply. We play the same exact gift-exchange game with my husband's family--picking numbers, then choosing, or stealing. SO FUN!!! With so many in his family it became a must!

I grew up opening one present only on Xmas Eve, too. But my mom always picked it, and it was ALWAYS pj's from my grandparents. Xmas morning was for Santa & everything else. Our Santa gifts were always wrapped, but the wrapping paper was always different from any of the other paper my mom had used. Santa's gifts were always left by the fireplace. Everything else was under the tree.

My husband grew up opening everything on Xmas Eve (traditional hispanic). But, together we have adopted more of the traditions similar to those I grew up with. I think it kills my husband as much as the kids to have to wait til Xmas morn to open gifts...LOL!

My hubby both surprises me AND tries to get me something I have requested. This year I asked for a sterling silver "cocktail" ring that I saw advertised a few months ago. Fortunately, for him I caught during a huge sale, so I knew about that one. He surprised me with some new perfume, which was a really good scent, plus I was in need of some. I try to do the same...one thing he really wants, then a small surprise or two.

Opening presents at midnight Christmas Eve, or Christmas morning?

I grew up opening 1 present on Christmas Eve and we were allowed to pick it out. I NEVER seemed to picked a good one. Then Santa came (he never wrapped our gifts) and Christmas morning was a present frenzy.

We raised our kids with a traditional full on meal at my folks with extended family and exchanged gifts. Then Santa came and Christmas morning was strictly all about the soot from the fireplace, half eaten cookies and milk and all the gifts they asked Santa for... again nothing was ever wrapped.

Now our son and his family hosts Christmas Eve. All the little ones get presents from everyone and then the adults exchange one gift that we spend $50.00 on. Originally we exchanged names and a list of what we wanted then it changed several years ago and we'd draw a number... take turns picking a present and opening it. The next person could steal your gift and you'd have to choose again. After two steals the gift was yours. It can get a bit rowdy but we love it emoticon

Christmas morning is still all about Santa... Santa is putting in a new master bathroom at our house this year emoticon

Do you tell your hubby exactly what you want or does he surprise you?

Yes, I keep it fair amongst my kids as far as spending nearly the same amount on each. As my DD12 has gotten older, I've had to remind her that her requests get more expensive (like electronics), so one or two things she asks for might equal 3 or 4 for the twins. But, fortunately, she gets it.

Ah, the eggnog. Just like a little of it (tastes great, but can be filling)....but, OF COURSE, it has to be WITH rum!!!

Online shopping or in-store shopping? I use to do all my shopping online, even groceries from Vons but now that I weigh considerable less my knees can take more walking so mostly in-store... I still do some online if shipping is free and I know I won't be sending it back emoticon

To spend or myself, I will gladly accept cash emoticon

To give as a gift, I will give cash if it's a close family member; but if not, then I try to give a gift card to a place I know they like shopping at. Some "traditional" people my view cash as 'tacky'.

emoticon I knew that Xmas tree questionwould get a rise out of someone...
I am traditionally TOTALLY against fake trees, too...ALWAYS had a real one as a kid and, yes, a few times we did go to the tree farm. That was cool! But, I have to admit that the last three years we have had a fake tree. Once the twins got "mobile", getting into everything, and everything into their mouths, it was just too much of a battle (x2). But, now that they are 4 and are fully aware when mommy 'means business" about not getting into things, back to real!!! Nothing says Xmas like the smell of the tree! emoticon

OK, so stuffing in or out of the bird? emoticon
Well, to be quite honest, the stuffing in the bird kind of grosses me out. It never bothered me as a kid and I will eat it, but the thought now as an adult just ....gag!
Besides, I like making it separate and letting the top get a little crispy as it finishes baking. Mmmm....now I am salivating!!!

emoticon emoticon fake????? emoticon NEVER!!!!! We used to go to the Christmas tree farm when the kids were young and spend several hours picking out the perfect tree. Usually one of the girls had a ribbon or fancy hair decoration and we'd tag the tree with it, yell for a Red Cap, pay and then go back weeks later and the boys would chop it down to a rising chorus of "TIMBER." Nothing smells as Christmasy as a fresh pine tree emoticon emoticon

We will be having everyone at the same table for Thanksgiving, but we will have a kids table and an adult table for Christmas dinner. But, this is more due to lack of table space than by choice. My dining room only seats 8, but we will be having twice as many guests for Christmas. But, I will be putting the kids table just off to the side of us. I remember as a kid at my Grandma's house, the kids table was in the kitchen--totally separate from the adults. Didn't really think much of it at the time, it's just the way it was. Now that I am older I realize that because my Grandma was a TOTAL neat-freak, she probably didn't want us to make a mess in her dining/living room...LOL! With twins I've had to get over that!

Funny you should ask....we have this dilemna this year being in our new house. We decorated our house for Halloween, which, to me, tells the neighborhood, "We are passing out candy." But, we also have 3 young kids who expect to go trick-or-treating for a fair amount of time, and both my DH and I want to go with them. Think I may have to bribe my mom to come over and pass out candy while we go around the block with the kids...or, could just do the old leave the bucket on the porch and hope that most people only take one or two (???)

But, if I had a choice with no dilemnas, I prefer trick-or-treating with the kids...they get SO excited!!!

Scary costume or cute/fun costume?

Oooh, I missed a few good ones.....definitely ice cream! And, my family LOVES board games!!!

Massage, for sure...I am WAY to rough on my hands to make a mani worth the money, and I do my own pedi's--don't like "sharing" feet (just a personal quirk).

Coffee or tea....yes, both! Coffee dominates during the school year, and iced tea during the summer.

As for beer and wine......you guessed it, both! Wine preferably for quiet evenings with my honey, and beer for hot summer BBQs emoticon But, if I truly had to pick....wine!

Read the book THEN see the movie. But, if I could only choose ONE, then definitely just read the book....it's always better than the movie anyway!

I totally agree, Linda. If you win the lottery you can afford personal trainer, nutritionist, in-home chef, etc!!!

And, yes, I do better on my own when it comes to working out. When I used to belong to a gym nothing would bother me more than the people that were there socializing around the equipment more than they were actually using it. I just don't have time for that.

As far as weather goes, living in Southern California we get the best of both--just enough heat in the summer & mild winters. The beach & the mountains are no more than an hour or two drive. That's a total flip of the coin for me!

If I could win the Lottery I'd have no problem being at my ideal weight forever. I've always fantasized about having an in house chef.... change that to a nutritionist/masseuse that cooks and it's Lotto baby all the way emoticon

I like reading the book before, too, but then I hate being disappointed when they change the movie (especially the endings) for 'dramatic' effect.

I prefer chicken in my salad--Lots of lean protein. YUM!

Hahaha, Linda...my answer is the same...BOTH beach & mountains. Living in SoCal where both are such a short drive away, how could we possibly choose!

In the summer, fruit! They are just SO refreshing!!!
In the winter, veggies....great in warm soup/stew.
