I'm impressed at those of you who find time to relax everyday. I think it is important and definitely need to incorporate more of it into my life.

I took time to relax on Thursday evening. I hiked to the top of a ridge near my house (not relaxing, but invigorating). When I got to the top I sat under a tree and watched the sunset. It was spectacular and the relaxation was definitely what the doctor ordered. The beauty of nature never ceases to amaze me. I'm going to make time at least once per week to just sit and relax.

I read for 15 to 30 minutes each night before I went to bed. It is a way to unwind from my busy day of running errands, driving my stepkids places and just everyday life in general. emoticon

June 11 : put the kids to nap and then took one myself.
June 12: sat on rhe pool deck and soaked up the sun.
June 13: planted my garden
June 14: watched my son play baseball
June 15: read a book

I think I'm one of the few people today who doesn't have that "go! go! go!" mentality. I usually have some free time during my normal day. As a matter of fact I've added some things to my everyday schedule ~~ I'm now spending my mornings baking with my 2 year old. emoticon

Got this in today. After work I had time before I had to go and pick up my son, so I set the timer on my phone for 30 minutes and I just sat on my couch and read.
Hoping to do this everyday this week, but if not, I've already accomplished this.

I am a student of DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and practice mindfullness and being present in the moment each day. For example, Choose a view that you can focus on for so many minutes each day. Notice everything that you can for, say, 10 minutes. Don't compare to what you noticed before~ just notice without judgement. If you find yourself judging your judgement, bring your attention back to this view and put your attention to it.

Hehehehe I already did this today-& will get to for the next 2 weeks. Both of my kids are in swimming lessons & I don't know any of the other parents at the pool which is great. Today I sat in the lounge chair & took a nap-45 minutes was great! Tomorrow & the rest of the time I have a book I want to read-super excited.

It seems that our lives are dictated by the Go! Go! Go! mentality. Our families and jobs tie up a lot of our time. Add to that trying to squeeze in time at the gym and preparing meals and there is little time for anything else.

This week's challenge is to relax! Find 30 minutes (or more!) this week where you can escape the hustle and bustle and focus on your relaxation. Lay in the hammock in the back yard; go to the spa; meditate, or do something else that you find relaxing. Make sure you are focusing on you. Concentrate on your deep breathing. Consciously relax muscle groups and recognize the feelings.

Come back here and let us know what you did. What do you find relaxing? I think we could all use good ideas to be able to escape reality for a little while.
