I don't have a great many tricks off the top of my head, but one thing that i do try to do, is plan out my meals. I take a sheet of notebook paper. On one side of the paper i write out a menu for the entire week. I make sure i have two dinners/suppers that are for really crazy days (our house its community group and youth group night). Then on the back side of the sheet, i write out a grocery list. I take the list to the pantry and put a check mark next to things i dont have to buy that trip. Then when i am done for the week, i put it in a notebook. after a few weeks of this, i have a month of menus and shopping lists, and i can pull out any week i want. It also makes it easy to tuck in some recipe cards.
