At work when I feel I'm getting stressed I get up and take a short walk. It really helps me to get back to where I should be. At home I find something to do so that I can think things through. Through the loss of my mom I became more aware of how stressed I was getting - so I really found that exercise, reading and just looking at everything one step at a time helped me a lot.

My new habit is a self-care daily challenge - In the morning I pick something (not food) that will light up my day ...
- Yoga
- Going for a walk
- Calling a friend
- Writing a positive blog
- having a nice cup of tea ...
the rule is it has to be POSITIVE...

So true! Procrastination is a major stressor for me but it is also a bad habit very difficult to break. emoticon

Pam- gardening and enjoying the outdoor (even in the winter) was a big change for me too. Thanks for sharing - you made me realize that I enjoy stitching and I had put it aside for a long time (unfinished project)... Since I can't do exercise and work all the time, I will try this!

Tony - Eating well = energy! emoticon ! We keep the junk out of the house too... I like warm drink when I feel stressed - like herbal tea. emoticon

I have found that getting the dinner ready is usually a de-stresser! Not always. But when I'm in no hurry - I enjoy working around with my Spoken Word CD, someone reading to me as a get on!
My other major discovery is that I really do feel better and less stressed if I just get on with a task that I want done, and get it over with. Yes, I know it's a no brainer, but..... Procrastination has held me back for years, and I'm still working to overcome it.

I still like to snack when I'm stressed but now I snack healthy and make sure that I don't keep junk at home.

I am a different man today because of SP. I loving life and am able to do things that I haven't been able to do for over 30 years. Everything is better and I do mean everything!

I find that sometimes just keeping busy doing the things that I love like gardening or some craft project and knitting all really help me relax.

"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government."

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. "

Since I completed the Stress Busting Challenge, I tried different things and made some changes. I am better at managing my stress but I know I can still improve!
- I am aware that eating does not help me cope with stress! Sweets... carbs... you know!
- Going for a walk (or run) helps me clear my mind
- I need my sleep

I am working on the positive self talk! I am really trying... This is my worse ennemy - I am my worse ennemy!

Please use this discussion to share your stress busting techniques that you tried during that challenge and that you are turning into new habits. What are you still working on?

Cheers. Julie
