Once a month weigh in. It keeps me on track. It's like being good for one day,but one day is a month. I have to be good for a month. If it were only one day, I might think that it's okay, I'll be better tomorrow, and forgive myself. It's one long day. I'm only trying to lose 5 lbs a month. The Sparkpeople nutrition guides give me plenty to eat, so that I'm stuffed each day.

I feel that I'm setting myself up for failure if I weigh more often as weight can fluctuate daily.

emoticon i think from what I can tell everyone has a different weigh in plan. You need to decide what motivates you the best and what helps you to stay on track. I weigh everyday for motivation but Mondays are my "official" weigh in day when I notate my weight on SP.
I know of one Sparker who doesn't weigh at all!! She instead uses her measuring tape to measure inches lost. There are a lot of ways to do it, Find your way and enjoy the journey, Good Luck!! Bonnie E.

I have just started to have a routine. It is exactly like Sparkabella's. Weighing on the 1st and 15th. I chose this length of time because I don't want my focus to be on the scales. Also, due to gaining muscle weight and not being perfect I figure I will lose weight slolwly and weighing more often might be disappointing.

Every Friday morning - after I shower. Any more than that I get frustrated by the daily fluctuations. I like Friday then I can relax a bit for the weekend then get back in gear on the Monday.

I weigh myself each morning after my AM workout and shower but before I eat anything (I'm not one who needs to eat before my workout).

I weigh myself on the 1st and 15th of the month, unclothed, after I've relieved myself but before drinking/eating/shower, etc. It's typically about the same time of day. I'm not OCD about it, but I try to create an all things equal situation.

It's time to start living the life you've imagined.

I weigh in everymorning. That way I can set my goals for the day. Eat a bit less or exercise a bit more. It motivaes me just a tad more.

With a little fluctuation, I'm still at 6 pounds lost so I'm taking the 10 day challenge! I'm going to get up 15 minutes earlier etch day (so I'll stop hitting the snooze button) and do some - any - exercise!

I only weigh in once a week. In the evening after my shower. I get on the scale right after I dry off. Dont want any extra pounds added to the scale.

Whenever & however you decide to weigh yourself...just make sure that you do it at the same time and the same way each time. That way you have a good comparison to know if you are truly losing weight or not.

yes to what everyone has said...i weigh at home but i have been doing weekly(or bi-weekly) weighing at the doctor's to try to keep me accountable...

the biggest thing i would encourage when not at home, if you MUST weigh with your shoes on, WEIGH your shoes to know how much is added...or consistently wear the same shoes...

I do weigh at home first things in the morning but my official weight is every Tuesday at my TOPS meeting. I do try to wear about the same thing every week.

I agree that consistency is the only real key - I weigh myself several days during the week, always before dressing/eating/drinking etc. Every Thursday I weigh myself for the weight to record for the week. It really is all about weighing yourself in the same manner, on the same scales at the same time.

Good luck !

I weight myself first thing in the morning before my shower. I do it everyday, and sometimes through out the day .... just to see. I've notice a 2 to 3 pound difference through out the day. But I only record my morning weight. .... but if your scale at work is the only one you have to use and you wear about the same thing everyday, I don't see why you can't use it.

Please, Please watch and listen for motorcycles while your out and about!

I am like katydid. Weigh myself first thing I the morning, unclothed. Went to the docs the other day....didn't eat breakfast and was 6 pounds more than my scale. So, I only go by own scale...and can expect a three pound difference....without freaking out. . And I average my daily weight, per week, I am always where I think I should be. My weight loss is slow. Half pound to a pound a week.

I get up at 6am. I head to the bathroom. I then weigh myself. I then eat a small breakfast. I then hit the treadmill. I then get ready for work. The consistency it what matters.

Tracking your weight is always more an art than a science. Your body can do strange things and your weight can fluctuate throughout the day and the week.

I weigh myself first thing in the morning, not clothed, after I've relieved myself but before I've eaten or drunk anything.

When I started 15 wks ago, I weighed in at work, full clothed in the late afternoon. I noticed that afternoon weigh ins tend to be a pound or two heavier than mornings. Does anyone have some sort of method that makes sure they track their weight accurately?
