I have finished the 10 min exercise challenge but am still going strong. I had an out of town guest this past week and slipped a few days. Boy I felt like crap.
Got on the bandwagon again today and feel so much better with tons of energy.
This challenge may well have saved my life......I would not have begun exercising regularly without it! THANKS SP!

You dont have to like me. Thats my job.

My four weeks is done!!!! I made it and this challenge made me enjoy exercising all the more!!!! I fought my lazy days when I just wanted to lay in bed an I felt really good after workingout. In additon to that, the scale liked me working out everyday too. Looks like that is my new thing!!!!!

This week was a bust since I got sick early in the week. Only 4 days of 10-minutes, and today was the only day I did more than 30 minutes.

Restarting tomorrow, and I'm going to try for another 3-week streak with my new goals (10+ minutes 7x/wk; 30+ minutes 5x/wk; 240+ total minutes/wk). Hopefully I don't burn myself out this time around.

Just finished up my third week post-challenge. Met all my goals (though it was a struggle towards the end of the week). This week I am sticking with 10 minutes/day every day, and 30 minutes/day 5x/week, but bumping my weekly minutes from 180 up to 240. I'll stay at this level for a few weeks and see how it goes.

Hello everyone!

So glad I completed this goal! I have stepped up my activity quite a bit and discovered I need to balance my activity with life a bit better. By that I mean that sometimes when I get home, it is so late that I have time/energy is to get ready for bed. I know that will just burn me out so I re-examined my schedule to figure out a better plan. So here it is (for accountability purposes):

M - strength training (1/2 circuit) & water aerobics
T - 15 minute walk
W - Strength training (1/2 circuit) & water aerobics
Th - Strength training (1/2 circuit) & water aerobics
F - 15 minute walk
Sa - Mileage walk
Sun - 15 min walk

I am going try this for a week and tweak it as needed.

Week 2 after the challenge was a success. These are my goals again:

1) 10 minutes of exercise per day, EVERY day
2) 30 minutes of exercise per day, 5x/week
3) 180 minutes (3 hours) of exercise per week

Did my 10 minutes minimum every day, actually did 6 days of 30+ minutes, and my total exercise minutes for the week was 355. One more week of these goals and then I'll modify or make some new ones.

Hello All,

I am still doing some walking. I am sure that it is over 10 minutes. I know that I am really tired when I get back to the house.

Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Best wishes to all!

Hello All,

I have been really busy doing some errands and trying to sort out our spare bedroom that we use as a storage room. It is full of stuff that we need to go through and sort out. But I have a little bit of time today to try and get caught up here.

I am still trying to do my walks too. I can't go very far though.

Hope everyone is enjoying their day

Best wishes to all!

Last week was my first week "off" the challenge, and I'd set a few SparkStreaks for myself to keep up the consistency and step up the activity level:

1) 10 minutes of exercise per day, EVERY day
2) 30 minutes of exercise per day, 5x/week
3) 180 minutes (3 hours) of exercise per week

Met all of these goals last week. Hoping for 2 more weeks on this plan and then I'll adjust my goals again.

Hello All,

All I can do for another 5 weeks is walking. I will try to walk for 10 minutes everyday. I can't wait to be fully healed from my surgery.

It took me along time to get to the point where I can feel that I completed the challenge!! While I usually exercise about 60 minutes a day, on those days when I didn't have time for 60, or even 30 minutes, I would skip exercise altogether!! I have finally learned that 10 minutes is better than nothing, and by doing the ten minutes, it usually turns into 15 or even more. So thanks, team!!

I"m committed to 10 minutes of exercise for 5 days per week. I must say that this has been a very busy 3 weeks at work so finding time working out has been difficult. So far I'm doing ok. I'm going to the gym tomorrow. Walking on the treadmill will do the trick tomorrow.

Day-2 Week-2 FBS 118
8-Week Challenge
Good Morninggggggg Everyone, emoticon
I hope everyone are doing spectacular this fine, wintery, morning. emoticon
Woke up to a new dusting of fresh snow this morning. But I am doing my work-outs inside so that won't stop me. emoticon
I tried 2 recipes from the sp recipe site last night, I tweeked em just a bit, but my b/f and myself enjoyed them quite a bit. My parents wanted pancakes and eggs, so I cooked them thiers and came back over home and cooked a much more balanced meal for us.

Today's work-out is lower, I am going to have to change one of my exercises, the squats w/ dumb bells is just too much on my knees. They just stop *SCREAMING* over doing them by the time, it's time to do them again, my knees hurt bad enough .. they don't need any help
emoticon
Oh yesterday getting out of the bath tub, I slipped, hitting my left hip, and elbow, elbow is fine, but hip is bruised and sore. So exercises are going to be a bit painful (more than normal) today, but I will get through them. I am SO ready for the weather to warm up so I can start walking outside w/ my dogs. emoticon

Well, it's coffee time, going next door to get some... emoticon

Day 7 Week 1 FBS 128

I feel pretty good today emoticon
I will get my sparks assigned exercises in and I am going to try and tackle my kitchen wall.
The one that the stove used to be sitting next to, so I can remove the foil.
I want to paint my kitchen walls, but either way they have to get scrubbed. emoticon
Yesterday my b/f bought me a belt to help hold up me pants...I bought one of those braided ones that you kinda hook it where ever you need it and you can let the end dangle as you need less of it.
I also bought a new bra...a size smaller YEAHHHH emoticon
He also bought my a springy pink colored blouse, I'm not sure who is more excited about having to buy smaller clothes, him or me, he does so enjoy buying very *ladylike* items, several years ago he made me throw out every pair of sweats I had, he hated them on me, said, he'd rather buy me a new wardrobe than see me in a another pair.
It has helped me keep on track, jeans let you know when they are getting snug, and keeps you very conscience of the fact you may be gaining weight back....but now my problem is I am shrinking out of my clothes... emoticon
But Daymon, my b/f, said he will always buy me new clothes in a smaller size, but refuses to buy bigger ones... emoticon
He is so supportive and since I told him to always make sure I do my exercises, he DOES NOT let me forget them and he watches me and encourages me to work through the pain.
emoticon
He is very fit, he is of japanese decent so we eat a very asian diet, lots of fish or lean meats, veggies and a little rice. Since I also cook dinners for my parents it has helped their health as well, my dad's FBS and BP have lowered and he feels better.
Well, enough for now, I need to get busy if I am going to get anything done today....Bright Blessings and Hugs to All...Tammy emoticon

Day 6 Week 1... FBS 109
8-week challenge
After such a great start in January, losing 12.2lbs,
February has been a bit bumpy, emoticon
driving my dad back and forth to his appts and eating out w/ him..
.I gained 6lbs back emoticon
It has taken me most of the month to finally lose the gain plus an additional 2.2lbs.
So for this year, my total loss is 14.4 lbs. . emoticon
I won't be making my 10lb weight loss goal for this month. emoticon
But Since the beginning of this year I have lost 4" off my hips and 5" off my waist, plus what I have lost off my neck, arms thighs and calfs...it comes to an overall total of a little over 12.5 inches. I had to have my b/f buy me a belt today to be able to hold my jeans up on my butt. emoticon
I wish everyone success with thier weight or health, brightest blessings and hugs Tammy emoticon

Day 5 week 1 FBS 131
8 Week Challenge
Today I am doing some early *spring* cleaning, taking down curtains, scrubbing cabinets and moving items in my kitchen.
I have got to vaccum my livingroom and bedroom some time today as well as finally face the *mountain * of laundry needing put away.
I have dinner started in the slow cooker...I just love my slow cooker emoticon
I will also try and get my assigned sparks strength training for today, I didn't get it in yesterday, but after all the walking I did w/ my dad yesterday, I made up for it.
And yes my knees still hurt, but I just keep going. emoticon
I have morphine here for my pain, but I refuse to take it unless I am in so much pain I am crying and even then my b/f has to make me take it. emoticon
I am so happy I have finally got involved w/ sparks I have had several accts throughout the years but have not gotten involved w/ teams....your support really keeps me going. emoticon

Today I drove my dad to the VA hospital in Pitts, a 2 hr drive, each way.
I got lots of exercise by wheeling myself around on a regular wheelchair.
It got hectic when we were ready to leave as he was getting out the wheel chair he tripped in the parking lot and fell, thank God emoticon there was a policeman there who caught his head and kept it from hitting the hard cement. But he did land very hard on his back and tail bone...so he called it in and my dad was taken by gurney back into the hospital into the ER to check him out, thankfully he was ok, but I walked after that happened, so on top of being worked up about him falling, I must have walked a mile around the hospital to get to the ER and then after an hour and he was released pushing him out the the truck to leave to come home, he is very sore and will be stiff for a few days, but ok.
I am still shook up and trying to calm down, but things like this make you realize just how fragile your parents are getting..
He has a pacemaker, and only 30% of his heart works on it's own.
We (he and I) had, had a falling out and didn't speak for over 20 yrs but in 2006 we were able to make peace and when I moved back here to PA in '07 I have forgiven him for his past actions.

SO, I have 30 minutes of wheeling around and an hour of walking.

Today I will be driving my dad to the VA hospital for a post op check after his eye surgery
It's a 2hr drive each way, and his appt is at 920am.
But while there, I usually get lots of exercise, I wheel up and down the halls in a manual wheelchair, using my feet to pull me alone, a big work-out for my legs.
I will also try and do the exercises on my fitness page when I get home.

DAY 2 - week 1 FBS 121
8 week - challenge
Today I walked 30 minutes around wal-mart. I usually have to use one of those powered wheelchairs due to my bad knees, but today I pushed a regular cart around while we shopped.
I am also going to be doing the 15 minute desk video(note) didn't get the video done but did 20 minutes of ...umm, creative arobics w/ my honey emoticon emoticon
dumbbell squats
and calf raises w/ chair

I also did body measurements and have lost an overall 7 3/4 inches. emoticon
which makes a total of overall 13 inches so far...since Jan 1st of this year.
emoticon Hugs and Happy V-day to all...Tammy emoticon

I have been wearing my pedometer 2x per week. This team helped me set a goal. I have kept it up. This may have been the start of a real lifestyle change.

Still walking daily, I now have a 62 day streak going, and the Iditawalk starts TODAY, but I will be starting on the atareadmill. We are currently in the middle of an ice storm and am just not going out!

Good idea for me to keep posting on this forum - helps with my commitment. I was amazed how easy it was to commit to a minimum of 10 minutes every day. I actually had other workouts on most days BUT commiting to the 10 minutes really made it work for me emoticon

I completed this challenge weeks ago and I now regularly work out 5 to 6 days a week. The first thing I do when I get home from work is to change into my workout clothes and hop on the elliptical for 30 to 40 minutes. After dinner I do strength training, kettlebell, etc. several days. I really look forward to working out now. I started the 28 day challenge but have stopped, I injured my shoulder the first week, then injured my knee trying to start the C25K training, (doctor has said to face the fact that I will not be a runner--stick to the elliptical)

Gee, I kinda forgot about this once I completed the challenge. No, not the daily workouts, just popping in and posting. I have certainly learned CONSISTENCY through this, and have now started the 28 day Bootcamp challenge. I had also pledged to walk daily in December, and that is carrying through for January. I just don't feel right if I don't get a walk in!

I was doing 60 minutes of water aerobics for the first 3 weeks, but this past week I have had to work a lot, but I still got in at least 10 minutes of walking everyday:)

I did 101 days in a row! And then I took a couple days off. Need to get back on track with that...it's so easy to get in just 10 min per day. I might need to make another streak goal to get remotivated!

I completed challenge and learned I can work 10 minutes in more than once a day. This was very helpful! Plus it made me aware of how to add more exercise into my daily activities!

I learned from this team that 10 minutes is easy to do, just keep stringing those 10 minutes along and before I know it, 30 minutes has passed, or I find myself doing squats, calf raises, sink pushups while I'm cooking or doing other things.

this is GREAT!

This is a great team. I have really found the idea of 10 minutes of daily exercise a starter for many more minutes than 10.

I have 80 days of exercise in a row! I started with the 10 min. daily challenge. It was hard to fit in my schedule at 1st, but now I am demanding it. Like brushing my teeth, I gotta do it.

I'm now working on the couch to 5k. I'm taking it slow and am in week5. I feel myself getting stronger and my husband noticed I was stronger and faster on our hike last weekend. I felt great.

I'm slow, but I'm getting out there. I'm also a flamin tomato head after 5 min. of running, but who cares?

wore my pedometer today. At 7:30 pm I had log in 13,097 steps. One of my long term goals to wear my pedometer 2 times per week and aim for 10,000 steps. Today was the first time I wore the pedometer this week.

I've just completed week five and am hoping to continue.
I do a Coach Nicole ten minute heartstart workout when I first get up, then get washed and dressed, have breakfast and get my husband to drop me off somewhere outside the village on his way to work and I then walk back, usually around three miles.
It's early when we go...around 7.30am. It's pretty quiet too, without much traffic and very peaceful. I love the countryside and see animals and birds on my way.It seems to motivate me for the day.
I feel energised when I get back and do my housework straight away before having a hot drink and a cool down. Then after lunch I do another two mile walk around the village.
I try to do this every day...I garden too!

I find that if I take the time to eat something small in the morning it helps. A granola bar or smoothie may help. It's small, yet gives you a little energy after waking up.

Hi Team!

A member thought having a forum for those of you who have completed this challenge would be a great addition to the team and I agreed. So feel free to use this forum to discuss the obstacles you may still face well after you have completed the 4 week challenge.

HAPPY SPARKING!
Nancy
