I do live in Southern California. Although I do get a lot of my steps outdoors I also get plenty of steps indoors, either walking in place in the evening, indoor walks during the workday, and of course walks on the treadmill.

Hi all, I am sticking with the default 10,000 steps and 10 floors per day, because I rarely achieve them. I get the 5,000 step badge frequently, but like others have said, I don't actually have the opportunity to do many floors on a normal day.

Physically I can do the steps - I have done just under 18,000 steps a couple of times - but there are other things I have to get done and I seem to run out of time. I do an arc trainer at the gym about 3x per week, and FB counts my strides on that, which helps.

@Rockman - your steps are really impressive. I'm curious - do you live where you can spend time outdoors year round? We have too much snow here which cancels out the long outdoor walks I like to do.

But I love my Fitbit and will keep trying! emoticon

I have just started being more active and walking and climbing stairs on purpose, so I am aiming for 6000 steps per day for the first week. After my legs stop being so tired and achy I will increase my goal.
I am amazed at the steps some of you are taking. I can't wait until I can do 10,000 or more, but listening to my body is telling me to take it a little slower.

My goal is 15,000 steps a day and 10 flights of steps for workdays (Tu-Fri this week) and 5000 steps and 25 floors the other days. ( I work in a long building where I'm on one end and the copier, restroom, lunchroom, etc. are on the other end. I live in a small tri-level where it's difficult to get in a lot of steps and achieving floors is a lot easier.

I want to average 10,000 steps ...some days ms keeps me from going very far. I also want to average 10 floors. I am still getting fitbit figured out. It desn't allow nearly as many calories as SP has required. It also counts many fewer exercise calories. That ombo is no doubt why I've been so stuck the past several months. I want to meet fitbit requirements this week....we'll see how it goes.

This is the first time I've blogged with this team. I LOVE my Fitbit One! I am working on consistency this week and plan 5,000 steps per day and 6 floors a day.

I am sticking with 15,000 daily steps. There are not many opportunities to get the floor climb unless I do a LOT of outdoor walking and that is not going to happen every day. It doesn't seem like I am going to get my Active Score to 1000 and since I am fairly active and I can't get that info from the phone app, I am going to stop tracking it.

What I Learned This Week
Don't beat yourself up for circumstances beyond your control that sap your time, energy, and ability to work out (ER visits, illness, rain). Listen to your body. When you are tired, rest. When you have energy, walk. Forgive yourself for not reaching your step goal for today, and remember that tomorrow is a new day with a clean slate.

Hi! You really do some serious "steps." emoticon . I just received my fb one a few days ago. Through the tracking, I realize when I have a day off, I am not getting many steps in.
My goal for this week is to get 10,000 steps in, most days. Last night, I started reading The Spark. I need to be kinder to myself so that is why I am aiming for "most days." I am really hoping for everyday.

Lost 45 lb before joining SparkPeople. Need support & friends to keep me motivated and on track to lose the last 28 lb and finally reach my goal weight.

I am going to keep my daily goal to 23,500 steps per day and keep my weekly goal to 170,000. I will also be tracking my daily active score (trying to keep it above 1000 each day). I will be tracking my floors climbed but as I don't really encounter many steps in my travel I will be interested in seeing how high I can get this number on a daily basis. Keep moving people, I know I will! DON'T GIVE UP!!!

I continue to be overwhelmed by the response from the SP community when it was announced that the FB site would be syncing with the SP site. As of the posting of this post, we are now at 8,306 members strong! Wow, that is 326 more than last week! Welcome to all of our new team members and thank you for joining our weekly steps goal!!!

I will be starting training for an upcoming 5K that I have participated for the last three years. I will be working on speed and endurance as I would love to beat last year's personal best of 23:46.
