The purpose of a versus challenge is to compare two like things.

Here is the first Versus Challenge: Find two similar desserts that you eat and compare the nutritional content. I compared Publix brand Moose Tracks Low Fat Frozen Yogurt against Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Half the Fat Dark Chocolate Velvet Ice Cream. Moose Tracks is one of my favorite icy treats. I was shopping at a different store that did not carry Moose Tracks anything, so I decided to buy the Breyers. I was surprised at the results.

Publix Moose Tracks:
Calories: 150
Fat from Calories: 50
Fat: 5g total, 2g saturated fat
Cholesterol: 5 mg
Sodium: 90 mg
Protein: 4g
Carbs: 21g, 19g of sugars
DRVs:
Calcium: 15%
A, C, and Iron: 0%

Breyers:
Calories: 110
Fat: 3.5g, 2g Saturated fat
Cholesterol: 10 mg
Sodium: 90 mg
Protein: 3g
Carbs: 18g, 13g of sugars
DRVs:
Calcium: 8%
Vitamin A: 6%
Vitamin C: 0%
Iron: 8%

I was surprised at the difference in the fat and calorie content. I would have suspected that low fat frozen yogurt would be lower in fat than low fat ice cream. I was also surprised at the lower sugar content in the ice cream, too.

What can you compare and what did you find?
