Hey Chubbybride, My gym calls it group power also. I asked a fellow weight training sparker and they considered it circuit training as well. This sucks because I want to pace myself as needed. I also want to get the credit and the points for strength training. You know how valuable those spark trophies are.
I too will participate again if the contest is extended in April. I posted but never heard any update. Is this the proper board to post that request? Actually do we stll need to post our weekly minutes on this board in addition to tracking in our fitness tracker?
Ok! Thanks so much ladies. Yes I did see the Circuit Training. but nothing else. So I guess I will have to use that. It sorta stinks because we need to be able to track classes that we do at the gym. I did a strength class today and I know its pretty common for gyms to have those sort of group weight classes. My gym has several different types and names. Strength- hand weights, Group Power- bar weight class and even Pilates Sculpt. At another gym I attended they called it Body Sculpt, Power Sculpt or just Sculpt. But basically its weight training classes either with weights or the dumbbell plates and bars. Do you guys know what I'm talking about? I didn't want to use the Circuit Training because I thought it was more for the Curves 30 min. circuit training. And my classes are an hour. I definitly want full credit for it. ;) I wish the SparkPeople would include a Weight Sculpt type class and other gym type classes. Everyone doesn't work out with videos or on their own in the weight room. and there is no way I could list every weight move I did in the class to get individual credit for it. Oh well the conudrum will remain. I guess I will have to use the Circuit Training. Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. Have a great day!
RunTri is right! They do have one for Circuit Training.
I log my minutes that way when I do continuous weights that keep my heart rate up (for example Jackie Warner's Total Body and other video classes like it).
If you are just doing strength training/weights on your own in a way that doesn't necessarily keep your heart rate up, then I recommend tracking the exercises separately in the Strength Training tracker. These won't count for cardio or calories burned, but you will earn 5 fitness minutes for each one, plus growing muscles!!!
This does work! I just added my turbo kick classes and found a way to add my power salsa dance class. But where did you go to add your pilates, or body sculpt-strength classes. You know classes with weights? let me know. thanks
The best way I have found to track fitness classes is through the Search Engine for Cardio. If you go to your "My Fitness Tracker" page and scroll down to click on the "Add Cardio" button, it will automatically open to a search screen. You can then type in a key word related to your class. For example, if you type in "Turbo Kick" you get an option between Kickboxing (including TurboJam) and Cardio Kickboxing (Including TaeBo, Turbo Kick). Then you just enter the number of minutes spent in class and click "Add Exercise." It will then populate your fitness tracker for you!
I use this to track all kinds of classes and activities - Yoga, Spin Class, etc. I hope it works out for you! Sounds like you are on the right track!
Hi I'd like to be in the march challenge and would love it to be extended to April. I've been writing down my weekly exercise but have been too busy to figure out how to input my class exercise in the tracker? I know where my tracker is but have problems when it comes to inputting a class. What Im asking is how do we track fitness classes we do at the gym. Like say a strength-body sculpt class or Turbo Kick, or pilates, or spin? If the class is an hour do we get credit for a whole hour? can someone let me know where to start tracking classes and how to specifically track classes? thanks
Since your in college you can count what cafeteria picks you make as a "recipe" and it's only one recipe required a week. If your school has a salad bar coming up with an interesting new way to put together a salad would be great!
Count me in on this challenge. :) I missed the last one. Now, is the healthy meal at least once overall, or once a week, or what? Also, I'm in college, so I eat in the cafeteria. I was wondering if my healthy meal counted since I didn't prepare it myself.
Maybe we could create a thread as an aside - not just part of the challenge? That way if people want to share they can, but they don't have to. I think it would be fun to have a thread where we could go check out people's recipes and such anytime we wanted! :)
I'd love for everyone to state their participation on this thread and I can monitor it from here but I also check all the blogs from the Filter Stream but I'll only add info from people who stated they are part of the challenge on the threads.
Woohooo! CONGRATULATIONS Shirnest! Way to rock it out! Ashley too!!! :)
Shawneda, I love the March Challenge! I'm excited to see what everyone cooks or eats at home! What a great idea! :) Can we maybe start a thread or use this one where people can post the links to their blogs on healthy foods at home?

We're going to keep the momentum going and incorporate something to help each other. Let's congratulate our top three winners for the Finer in February Challenge Shirnest won, JulieIrene came in 2nd and AshleyVWest came in 3rd. We'd love to see more participants for March. Shirnest will be receiving Slim in 6 as her prize.
For March we are looking for someone with at least three huddles per week, track fitness activity at least 90minutes OR 3 times a week, and share at least one healthy meal you prepare at home with a pic or a blog post. I'll be tracking using Google Spread Sheet starting today so, post your interest in participating here on this thread and I'll enter you into the database and track your progress so also make sure you make your page and fitness tracker visible.
