Been doing great sticking to trying to do 6 weeks of the 3 exercises every woman should do that is in an SP article. I set my kitchen timer and see how many sets of 15 reps I can do in that time while watching TV. Today, instead of doing my yoga dvds 1st thing in the morning before breakfast as a "WAKE ME UP-workout" I chose to do 2 10 min. strength workouts using the SP Fit, Firm, & Fired Up! dvd- pump up your upper body and the crunchless core challenge. So far so good.

Yesterday, I managed to do some upper body strength exercises in the evening after using my treadmill.

This morning after I did my yoga dvd I took on the Fit,Firm, & Fired Up! dvd for day 3 Call on Your Core.

Yesterday I focused on my upper body using my dumbells and doing exercises while watching tv but using my timer for each exercise to see how many sets and reps I got in that time limit.

Today, 1/1/13 I used my long forgotten resistance bands and focused on my legs doing exercises using the timer and watching tv too.

Wow, I am really doing good this week w/ my goal. I have at least 3 times this week done strength training exercises. I even managed to get them in EARLY (5 AM) before having to get ready for work & getting my son to school.

resistance bands for a full body workout using an SP workout plan while watching tv. Did 2 sets of 15 for each exercise. I can tell I've been slacking off in the strength area and need to make baby steps to get back into form.

sticking to my upper body challenge on the wall push ups- got to 9 sets of 15 reps so 135 wall pushups today along with bicep curls, wrist curls, shoulder shrugs (weights), shoulder lateral raises (weights), the boxer exercise so its coming along.

8/03: used my stability ball today for a full body workout using the SP workout generator and choose the Ball Challenge workout but increased my sets to 3 /15 reps each exercise

Decided its time for me to do 3 strength workouts in a week with rest days in between aiming for full body ones and doing my best to mix them up.

5/18: Yikes- I took on another new dvd- Women's Health Total Body workout and these new dvds are no joke- very intense.
Managed through the 30 min. cardio section, straight into the strength section using my 5 lb weights and lots of squats while working other areas for 45 min. to end with 20 min. of core strength exercises. emoticon

OMG- I took on the new toning/cardio dvd that showed up at my home about 2 weeks ago- since I was feeling "peppy". Ladies this dvd will kick your butt, BUT you will feel so empowered and proud of yourself at the end!

The Women's Health Tone- UP Workout is 40 min. long and has you doing a warm up, then 2 circuits of fast paced cardio & strength exercises in 1 min. intervals. I literally had streams of sweat pouring down my body. emoticon

This is one to put me in my place when I fall of the wagon of doing my strength.

Hi Team,
If you've been reading and learning with SparkPeople you know doing strength training is just as important as cardio to live a healthy and active life. So for this team challenge, either choose to add a SparkPeople generated strength workout to your tracking page at least 2 or 3 times a week. Make sure to focus on different body areas each day you do strength.
Come back here and post which one you did or leave an emoticon.

I am also thinking of doing a weekly challenge where I will choose a strength exercise and number of reps & sets we are to do. Everyone goes at their own level but needs to pop back in and give themselves credit for doing so.
