Meditation is the best!

I have let it become the least of my priorities though...I have only been spending a few minutes meditating in the am and in the pm instead of a good full session with grounding and release...

I expect this will show up on my 12 week goal list!

Woot woot Saturday!!!

For the last few days I've been stealthily adding meditation back into my life, just slyly enough that I don't notice. emoticon

When I drop away from meditation I always wonder why--it's so good for me.

If nothing else, seeing a beautiful usually brings a smile and a quietness inside. I usually bring out the camera because I love to take pictures of butterflies.

Thanks so much for your kind words. I appreciate that you took the time to answer and reassure me. Sometimes I have trouble finding the happy side of things. You make me see that it might be a good thing and not a message of unhappiness and death.

Thanks again.

I think it is pretty cool for a butterfly to choose your garden. From the little I know about certain butterflies, they tend to stay in a comfort zone, and they do not live long. When they come out of their cocoon, they mate, eat and fly in the same small area for the length of their lives...

As for a message specifically for you, does it makes sense that you would be told it is ok to become a new butterfly? The circle of life is pretty awesome and to be a part of such a delicate creature's passing could be a message for you to be at peace with transformation.

Thank you for expressing love and kindness and for sharing it with us.

Question: What does it mean when you find a dying butterfly? Today as I was walking outside I saw one fluttering in the grass. The ants were trying to eat him. I went inside and got a sheet of paper and eased it under him, raked the ants away and took him inside. He is still alive and shutters occasionally. I don't know anything to do for him, but I felt it must mean something that he chose my yard to die.

LadyRavenwood...
The prayer is beautiful, and I will start to incorporate that one into my daily "mind work" for sure!
As for the colors...I love that one...here are two variations to the rainbow meditation...

One is float up through the sky with each color until you reach the white light, then float back down to earth through each color. When I was taught this one, I was told to feel, taste, and sense each color. And to stay with each color until I felt a nudge to move on.

The second one is the chakra meditation. Starting at the base with red and moving up through each color. There is a warning with this one though...never force your chakras to be a certain color for long...this is just a meditative re-alignment based on the ideal light and color vibration. Your chakras need to be in charge of themselves.

For beginners, please remember this is for health and clarity, and if it doesn't feel right, don't force it.

(The colors of the rainbow are...red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple/violet...this is also the order of the chakra colors starting at the base of your spine and ending above your head with purple/violet.)

Found this prayer to begin each day with on Facebook:

"Great Mother,
You who are of me and around me
Guide me through this day
Teach me The Way
Through darkness and confusion
Grant to me courage, balance, peace
and love for this day
So mote it be"

Esscuecando: I started a guided meditation before I realized I was wiccan and use it to this day. Found it in a book called "Lessons in Instant ESP" by David St Clair.
It begins by visualizing each color of the rainbow, becoming more relaxed and closer to alpha state with each color; then walking down steps and through a door to your place of peace, sanctuary and power.

Guided meditation is when you listen to a scripted visualization.

You can find CDs and DVDs or even your cable "on demand" might have them. The website "Learning Meditation" also has free guided meditations. www.learningmeditation.com/

I have a cassette and an old walkman that I still pull out. My favorite meditation starts with breathing in and out, then a visualization of floating on a river of golden sunlight, and a focus on the warmth, and rhythm, and wonderfulness.

My mom recorded one for me when I was younger...it started with walking down worn, old, earthen steps until the calmness and breathing is balanced, then a door opens up to a secret garden where I sit until it is time to leave...then I walk back up the steps and go about my day.

You can record one for yourself or have someone speak it for you.

Peace and hugs!

Hey Tatt,

Here is a good and easy way to start meditating...

1. Find the time when no one and nothing will disturb you. Turn down all the phones, alarms, and whatever might suddenly go off.
2. Sit or lay down...be comfortable. The only thing you don't want to do is cross your legs or arms because you want clean energy flow through your body. (Some practitioners say sitting is best but I say meditate in comfort.)
3. Close your eyes and breathe in and out.
4. Count your breaths and think only of breathing.
5. Do this for at least 5 minutes each time you meditate then work your way up to longer sessions.

Once you have been able to meditate on deep breathing and it becomes a habit, move on to guided meditations.

I honestly don't meditate. I should. But I have so much trouble with it and my anxiety disorder which doesn't let my mind calm down ever.

Any tips?

Some days are warm enough now, but some aren't. I think when I get paid I'll pick up some of those citronella candles and start doing it, on the warm days. More and more warm days now. =)

Speaking of meditating outside...I walked yesterday for the first time in a while. It was noon, in the Texas 90 degree heat. It was awesome. Usually, I listen to music or my Pagan/Witchy podcasts while I walk. Yesterday, I just listened to nature. I listened to the wind and the birds. It was AWESOME. I have such a hard time fitting regular meditation into my daily routine. But I totally felt the benefit of a bit of walking meditation.

It is definitely warm enough here in TX to start the outdoor meditation challenge up again, whenever you are ready. I was disappoint last time when it was started and I didn't stick with it!

Over the summer when the weather was nice, the whole team was going to do outdoor meditation each day, and star kitty suggested we use citronella candles instead of regular ones, for the mosquitoes..

But no one ever started doing it but me lol

That is an awesome idea, since my normal space never seems to be clutter free enough to use. I am in!!!

I LOVE the idea of an outside meditation, which I got from my good friend PinkStarKitty21.

She suggested using citronella candles instead of regular candles, to help with the ongoing battle against mosquitoes.

Anyone who wants to join this on-going challenge can post here. Just post once for the week, then you can edit it all week long:
Jul.2 (Fri)=(
Jul.3 (Sat)=(
Jul.4 (Sun)=(
Jul.5 (Mon)=(
Jul.6 (Tue)
Jul.7 (Wed)
Jul.8 (Thu)

Jeez I've done terrible this week--I think cause I was all alone in my new team lol-- Gonna try again next week!
