Thanks, Mary!!

I haven't been as focused on healthy eating lately--stress and overwork have been my biggest focus lately. However, I had my annual appointment with my GYN and she just raved about my weight loss since last year. It gave me a chance to remember that I am in this for the long haul and that being off task doesn't undo my years of hard work.

This weeks message is on the same topic--perseverance. Even when we stray, we can get back to it--of course, the sooner the better is best, but getting back to it is always best!!

WooHoo--I lost 2 pounds this weigh in (It has been over 3 weeks though...) I lost weight after having had 14 or 15 steroid injections and the munchies that go along with that deal. I am amazed.

I know that that means that I have built a lot of good habits that I don't even recognize them when I am doing them. That's a good thing too.
I am back to work harder on this along with the new treatments on my back--and the world better pay attention as I get more serious than I have been in weeks!! Physical therapy and new exercises along with less pain will make me a stronger person who is more focused on being healthy. Here I come everybody!! WooHoo, indeed!!

Yay--I have learned how to make a DVD--yay, yay, yay... I have to have two of them for my National Boards renewal and it was stressing me out. I finished one completely and have burned 2 DVDs of it. The other is completing the "exporting to desktop" on the computer--it is supposed to be done in 33 minutes. Yay, Yay, Yay--I am so happy to have this out of my way!!!

I was pleasantly surprised when a lady (who I don't know and cannot admit that I ever noticed) came up to me when I was working out last week and told me that she had been watching me for a while and how good I looked. She told me that I looked younger and that I should feel proud of myself.
It was sure nice to have an unsolicited compliment like that.

Gentle hugs,

Thanks Mary--I am so happy to be refocused on this journey.

I saw one of my "former" physical therapists a few days ago and he came back to talk about how different I look and what a good thing that is. It sure always helps when somebody notices what we are working so hard on accomplishing.

Thanks Jan,

Last week after church, I was talking with our pastor and he looked at me and said, "It seems that there is less of you coming here these days, Sylvia." That was a sweetly worded compliment and it made me feel pretty good. I haven't had many compliments recently because I think people are used to seeing me at this new size. I am still losing weight and am not quite where I need to or want to be yet--so it was a pleasure to hear his kind words.

I did lose another 1.3 pounds this week, so assuming that I didn't blow it today--and I didn't--I had a part of a piece of pumpkin pie and basically stuck to my plan, I hope to stick with some regular losing. Maybe I can get to 170 by the end of the year.

WooHoo!!

I cannot believe that I never came to celebrate getting to my original weight loss goal. I did what I originally set out to do and lost over 122 pounds, getting to 180 pounds.

Now, I realize that I need to lose another 15-20 pounds because I have gotten shorter than I used to be. (This happens when you have issues with your spine and surgeries on it--and other conditions cause it as well.) I can do this and I am going to accomplish what I need to get out of any clothing with an "l" or and "X" in the size. I have gotten rid of "XX" and "2X" and that feels pretty good--so I have more to lose!!

Way to go, Maria!!
I need to take time to go shopping just to check on sizes for one. I also need to find out what size bra I should be wearing. Mine aren't right and they make a difference in how my clothes look. I haven't worked this hard to look silly and I need to spend some time dealing with it--but time is the real culprit in my ife these days, lol.

It has to feel so good to be buying things int he regular sizes as well. I have alot of hanging tummy that doesn't allow me to fit into quite the sizes I probably need and I am not sure what is next for all of this. My dos once mentioned that I'd have a need to have some of that removed, but he never took into account that with all of the medically necessary surgeries that I have been through that I might not want to do that. My last surgery was pretty scary and I doubt that I am going to have one without a powerful reason that improves my health. In the meantime, I will simply wear a larger size of pants!)

Great work!!

Great news, Sylvia, keep up the wonderful progress.

My progress is going slower than yours, but I did buy 3 new bras down from a 44 to 38!

Had to buy new jeans, too, as they're my staples now and my OD said I looked like a waif with hand me downs in my older ones!

I am now buying clothes in the regular departments. that feels wonderful as it's been almost thirty years since I could!

I saw the doctor on Wednesday and he shook my hand (twice) because I have lost 11 pounds since he last saw me 6 weeks ago. He was so happy about my good cholesterol being 39 (goal is 40) and my bad cholesterol is 110 way below the goal of 130. Although something keeps placing me as a "pre-diabetic, he told me that losing weight and exercise is what will manage that. My biggest issue is my vitamin D level which is determined to not go up in spite of the supplements and my efforts to get at least 20 minutes of sunshine each day. It was an awesome visit and it was nice to have his reaction to what I have worked so hard on.

I think I told you guys this, but some lady at the pool told me that I had "great legs" the other day. Can you imagine how shocked that I was? I used to weigh well over 300 p[ounds and have been overweight forever--and now, somebody I don't know tells me that I have GREAT LEGS!! emoticon I did have the decency and good sense to thank her for the compliment, but it was a definite first for me.

I also had an appointment for my bi-annual fasting blood work at my GPs office and a nurse who has cared for me for several years asked me who I was and was shocked becasue she didn't recognize me.

Wow, these are little victories that sure gave me something to think about. emoticon

A former colleague of mine came to school to visit today. I haven't seen her in 7 years. After a teary-eyed hug and an exchange of emails (she is going back to her "new" home in CO on Monday), all she could do is talk about how wonderful I look and she complimented me over and over again. When you get to be my age, to look that much better seven years later is a strong statement.

I do hope that I get to see her again before she leaves IL, but it isn't likely especially with the holiday weekend. Anyway, she hasn't seen me since long before I started losing this 100+ pounds and it was good for me to experience her reaction. That will keep me on track for a while. emoticon

Sylvia

Good for you--those little things are a big deal, actually. I was so happy when i could wrap a towel around me and it fit. I am due for smaller underclothing too, but I am trying to hold out on new stuff for a few more pounds...

I went to one of my doctor's offices for my regular injection on Friday and saw a lot of the staff who I have missed during the summer. They hadn't seen me since May and were so excited to see me and the weight I've lost. It really felt good to have their compliments and I am sure that I left there walking a lot taller than when I went in. emoticon

We have been together long enough to have some positive things to share...Can you now do something or do something better since you started? Have you changed to a smaller size or does something no longer fit becasue it is too big? Have you received a compliment? Do you have more energy or greater endurance when you do something? All good things are not related to the scale.

This is a place to share your good news and help motivate all of us with your success.
