I'm scheduled for my 4th personal training session this Thursday, Valentines Day. Thinking it will be a challenging, but sweet experience, with no calories consumed, but some burned!!

I'm still disappointed to hear that it is very difficult to build muscle while losing. I just want to lose about 2 more pounds very slowly, but would like that 2 pounds to be fat, not muscle. Not sure I'm willing to gain weight even to build muscle.

It is for me. I got a whole slew of exercise videos, more hand weights, a balance ball & I've been working hard, but haven't been able to tell a lot of difference yet. It feels good though (except the next morning when I'm sometimes a little sore.) Hey, how do I figure out how many calories I'm doing during my exercise videos? I keep entering in the time. I know I'm not actually burning as much as cardio, but I have to be doing SOMETHING. Is there a website somewhere that lists amounts for different tapes or something?

Yes, my main focus is to build up my upper body strength and gain back energy I badly am in lack of.

Yes. I got a personal trainer because I realized in 2012 I had done much less strength training than the 2 previous years. The trainer didn't show up for our second session, though. Hope he comes through from now on. Not many options at my gym, but if this doesn't work, I'll find a way!! Did my own workout this week anyway.

Yes I am going to add ST to my walking this year because I want to lose more than just 8 lbs this year.

I definitely will be focusing on strength training, I want toned muscles! I'll be using my dumbbells, resistance bands and stability ball. I plan to compete in at least one virtual walking 5K.

I will be! I have to build more solid muscle mass to help burn off these fat masses.
I will be using the gym machines, home with hand weights, resistance bands, weighted medicine ball, and my own body weight along with, my favorite... the balance ball.
I practice standing on one foot when I am in the kitchen several times a day... I have always had a slightly "off balance" problem, but I am getting better as I am learning to rely more on the strength of my core muscles!

I joined a gym on a whim and have not been going,so my plan is to go CONSISTENTLY!
I love their "body combat" class,but just don't take the time to go.
I plan to try their zumba class tomorrow because my regular zumba class is cancelled for a few weeks.

With the new year, 2013, who is going to focus on adding more strength and balancing exercises to their routine?

What will you be using?

I plan on doing body weight exercises and using my dumbells and resistance bands. Once I build better strength I will move on to using my long forgotten but dusted off BowFlex who is keeping my Sole treadmill company in the garage. That is now my designated "Quiet Room" where I go to escape and workout.
