I've had several pieces of used exercise equipment- never used them, they took up a lot of space so I got rid of them.
Weight loss is accomplished with the mind.

Which do you prefer? The pain of self discipline?....or...the pain of self regret?

It's about half and half: my treadmill, resistance bands, elliptical bike are new weight machine, exercise bike, hand weights are all previously owned.

No, I insist on going outside.

I bought a new recumbent exercise bike several years ago for my husband to use when the weather is bad. He prefers to walk outside when he can.
Now I use the bike everyday. Glad to have it because I usually ride first thing in the morning...and I'd look funny going to the gym in my pjs.
I also have some resistance bands.

treadmill is my lifesaver, I used to go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week, then my mother took ill and required me to be home with her all the time, so keeps me moving

Bought used exercise bike that I use off and on.
We have many weights, large and small.
Was given an old ski thing that I rarely use but hope to use again since it's rather fun.
Got one of those big balls. Have been saving the SparkPeople exercises that use them and will bring it up from the basement this week!
Most important of all, I use Wii Fit that my son gave me for Christmas 3 years ago. Now that I'm tracking my fitness, I've been using it almost daily for the last 3 months. I use it for a scale, too.
It's a long drive to go to any gym, especially in the winter, so I'm glad to have these items to help me get fit!

I hired a treadmill, it was great but too big for my available space. Then I hired a cycle and that worked so well I bought it. Then the cycle gave me problems with my dud knee, so I traded that in for a brand new elliptical. Have had it for years, use it occasionally when I am watching TV replay. It is great to have something like that at home. I also have bands, a Swiss ball, some hand weights and a couple of good yoga mats. I have Zumba DVDs but prefer going to class.

I have purchased only one used piece of equipment, it was an awesome professional level StairMaster. Unfortunately, I had to sell it, since it posed a hazard to my young daughter. I did, join the gym, recently, and have resumed my activity.

We bought a used eliptical machine and glider and a new treadmill, recumbent bike, rower, total gym. we made our own gym and it paid for itself in about 6 months. we shopped around and got great deals. I use the recumbent bike almost daily and everything else pretty regularly, but the bike is my fave! I also have tons of DVDs, a yoga mat and some free weights that i've had for years. I do better on my own than in a gym

I have a Gazelle machine that I got at half price about 8 years ago. I do try to use it but it is a huge pain to pull it out and then set it up. I can't keep it out all the time because of the kids and lack of space. I've found exercise dvd's at pawn shops and thrift stores. The only other things I have equipment wise are resistance bands and hand weights that are 3 lbs.

A few years back we added on to our garage and bought new and used gym equipment. It has already paid for itself, gym equipment wise, for us, considering the cost of memberships where we live. Its like a little mini gym and it has everything that we need to workout... some of the things were new... a pec/squat machine, a hack squat machine, the treadmill... the other stuff, dumbbells from 4 - 150 pounds, the bike, the calf machine, some benches were used. A friend of my husband's was closing his business and we got an incredible deal on all of it. You think I'd be fit and healthy with it being so close...

I exercise with Leslie Sansone DVD's and Billy Blank's DvD's and I have a treadmill waiting to be fixed because I had used it so much.and I walk where ever I go and live a very active life style.
I could start a gym with all the stuff I have bought and sold!
Right now I use an Octane Eliptical, Treadmill, and Body Pump at home

I formerly bought a treadmill for winter and did use it. Due to an injury I laid off for a long time and went looking for equipment that did not stress my foot and ankle and recently bought an eliptical trainer. I haven't used it yet but am very hopeful it will be the bridge until I can workout again. Both these were new. The treadmill from a local store and the eliptical from a TV advert. I also purchased an abdoer from TV and it's just great! All these together were less than a gym membership and so convenient. I don't like the "gym" atmosphere so it suits me just fine. Hope this helps. I would suggest trying them out first if you can to see what you enjoy most. Good luck!

I was wondering who has purchased exercise equipment to keep the excuses at bay about going to the gym. Have you bought any exercise equipment you use in your home? If so what and was it new or "used"?
