I destress and decompress by playing video games. Depending on my mood, I'll play one of my computer games (Civilization 5, the Sims or SimCity) or one of my Xbox 360 games.
Take a hot bath with a magazine. Or my personal favorite is to find a sunny spot and soak up some rays. :) ... That is something I never would have done before losing weight.

Starting BMI 47.52 extreme obesity .... Current BMI 33.1 "simply" obese - much closer to overweight than extreme obese now!!

If I can, I like to go for a walk, and sometimes I make it a prayer walk. I also like to do crossword and suduku puzzles or read.

I mediate, or if I don't have time, I take long slow breaths.
If the weather is good, I garden. If not, I take a book to a quiet corner in the house.
There's a cat in my lap so I can't get up!
I take a long, hot bath, or I read. It is good to read what others have written, as now I have some new things to try. The walking sounds good - especially if I need to get away from whatever it is that is stressing me. Thanks for all the great ideas.

I get out of my issue by helping someone else with a need or concern they are unable to deal with.
It always amazes me that while helping others....my problems seem to disolve......or at least are not so big any longer!

At first I thought maybe walking was my way to destress but after thinking about it I confess that tidying and cleaning is really my destresser. When I am really overwrought I go from room to room and put things away ending in dusting and vacuming. if need be I mop too. There is something so satisfying in seeing order.

Best thing for me is to meditate but I don't always get to take the 10 to 15 minutes to destress with meditation

I like to walk to some really good walking music, take my dog out for a walk in the woods, or take a long hot bath.

What do you do to decompress or destress from daily challenges that seem to boil up to the top and act unhealthy towards your daily goals?
For me the best method for coping in a healthy way has always been going for an outdoor walk in nature. I also find using my elliptical, doing strength exercises, gardening, playing or patting my dogs helps me deal with daily stresses. I LOVE a good book, but there are times when sitting down quietly to read just doesn't happen.
I know when I was younger I used to go outside and ice skate in the winter and shoot basketball hoops to destress from school and house chores. What do you do?
