I have been doing strength training right after my aerobics. I use 5 lb weights and a stability ball. It feels sooo good when I am done. It literally makes me feel like I have accomplished something in my day. Its a great way to start the day. It give you the energy to finish the rest of the day. :) emoticon

emoticon ALASKASKY on getting all that in and taking on the challenge!

Today, I opted to do my core area with the Fit,Firm, & Fired Up! dvd day 2 call on your core workout. Yesterday I used the SP generated workout and did my upper body using the 8 lb weights with the dumbell challenge I think, I like to watch tv while doing my reps/sets.

I prefer the sparkpeople workout videos. I am currently doing the 8week diabetes challenge and so far so good. I'm not perfect, but I'm moving. I'm on week 6 so I'm doing 20 min. cardio videos four times a week and 3 strength training days. It's really making a difference. I also get in some walking a few days a week. emoticon

I am starting to incorporate strength training into my exercise routine. I started a class last week and last night was day 2 of the class. 45 minutes of OMG! curcuit training. We were doing jumping jacks and hopping on one foot and did a circuit of upper body moves then did core work on a balance ball, threw in some push ups and a couple of kettle bell core exercises. WHEW! was I wiped out at the end. It was AWESOME! Now I just have to get that same motivation and do the routine 2x this week before class #3. Shooting for 3x week running on the treadmill, 3x week strength training and 5x a week walking during my lunch time. The walking is kind of hit or miss these days with rain and cold, but still trying to get it going.

Doing better this week- using the Fit, Firm, & Fired Up Dvd for workouts plus yesterday I used the resistance bands to do my lower body workout while watching tv.

OK, I took inventory and I seriously am slacking off in my workouts which makes me unhappy as I try to adjust to working and home life. emoticon

So, I awoke this morning determined to get back on track- took on the Fit,Firm, & Fired Up dvd to do workouts with Coach Nicole - day 5 pump up your upper body and day 6 crunchless core challenge using my 8 lb weights.

I feel so much better with myself and energized to face the rest of the day. emoticon

I like strength training, so it's not hard for me to get it in during the week.
Usually, I do an aerobic weight training video twice a week (like the FIRM series).

I am trying to find a way to balance my life now that I just started a part time job. I realized I put my workouts on the backburned this past week while adjusting and that has got to stop now! emoticon

So today I made it a point to pop in the Fit,Firm, & Fired Up dvd and did day 1 lower body blast workout using my 5 lb. weights. Time for a new fitness streak as I adjust.

I just started back with strength training and am feeling muscles I forgot existed. I have lots of equipment (free weights, a nautilus machine, body bar, exercise ball, bands, you get the message!) so there's no excuse for not incorporating it into my exercise regimen.

Today I used baskets instead of a buggy, talk about weight training.
I did biceps curls with them while waiting in line, the man in front of me asked me if I need his buggy since he only had a couple of things. I told him thanks, but no thanks I'm weight training. He got a big laugh but then though about it and said not bad.

I haven't been doing strength exercises of late. My oldest daughter and I signed up for a 6 week strength training class that starts this month so I am hoping that a little one on one with a personal trainer during this class gets the fire burning. I am excited to get started.

9/6:today, I ventured on my goal to get those strength moves back into my daily life. Thanks to SP I used the core pre-made workout and utilized my stability ball and took on Basic Ball Workout doing 2 sets of 15 reps for each exercise.

JEANUT what great ideas for us to squeeze those strength moves in during our busy days.
Now you are inspiring me to do the heel lifts or calf raises while waiting in line too.

I like to do heel lifts and leg extensions (both inwards and outwards) while cooking
today I did 2 sets of 15 reps of each one of them
Tip: I'll sometimes do the heel lifts when at the super market while waiting for meat to be cut.

9/05: Okay, I just got myself motivated and using the SP premade workouts opted for upper body and did the Body Weight Challenge Workout 2 sets of each exercise with 15 reps. I did this while cooking dinner so its all good!

Let me just say, my triceps are fatigued and I did NOT realize how much strength I lost in that area till tonight. Time to make strength exercises a priority in my life. Even if its just 1 exercise a day- HEY, that's a goal. emoticon

Hi,
You know that saying, "Got Milk?" How about "Got Strength?"

Here you can share tips for some strength exercise moves or even share which strength workouts you do by using SP exercises or say a fitness dvd/video

Got weight equipment? If not how do you get creative by using things around your home?

I can honestly say, I've let my strength workouts slip by and really want to incorporate them back into my week. Those who have been staying steady, help lead the way for us.
Other Slowest Losers like me if you do a strength exercise(s) for that day drop on back into this post and give yourself a High Five. Add in what exercise(s), reps, and if applicable the weight used. Lets motivate each other to get Strength back into our lives so we can "press that metal". emoticon emoticon emoticon
