My OCTOBER total step goal was to do: 310,000
Monthly total steps: 58,742
Monthly total miles: 57.2
Did you reach your step goal for the month? No! I was sick for three weeks and didn't do any walking at all during that time. I'm feeling much better now, so I can't wait to start the November challenge.
How did you do with your focus? Terrible! I was just focused on getting through the day while I was sick.

Did you reach your step goal for the month? I not only reached it, I exceeded it by a whole lot.

Okay, you all inspired me to go ahead and add up my info. tonight so I can lead by example.
My goal was to do 530,000 steps for October- Here is what I accomplished
Monthly total steps: 543,993
Monthly total miles: 477.86

My focus was to mix up and stick to my workouts. I am proud that I did manage to mix up my walking routine by taking it to a local park when road construction has been happening on my street. I was doing great with my cardio workouts by adding in the elliptical until I broke the darn frame from too much use! I will be honest my strength training has been taking a nose dive. So for November I might need to re-evaluate my goals and possibly adjust it to a more reasonable level due to holidays and added obligations.

I am happy with my results for October. The scale hasn't moved much, but I did get my driver's license which has been a life long goal and I conquered that fear of driving. I am now volunteering at my son's elementary school and really thinking about some new goals and challenges. Time management still needs to be worked on.

Yes, I sure will do another Pedometer challenge in November. I think I might word it as being a Pedometer Steps/Cardio/Healthy Habit Challenge though. That way it will cover a lot of positive steps forward so those unable to do a great deal of walking can still participate.

What do you all think of that idea?

BECKY1 are you having issue with your latest pedometer or did it just plain die?

Where will you be looking and what brand and model are you going for?

I recommend shopping online at WALMART.com for an Omron model HJ-112 or the super version I have is the Omron HJ-720ITC which comes with batteries, usb cable & software program for charts and tracking on your home computer, and a safety strap. I researched different online sites and this was the best deal.

Today is Oct 4th. I did not reach goal last month b/c I did nothing toward it! So I am setting reasonable goals. For this first week of Oct, I will find and start wearing the pedometer that I purchased from the Spark store. And if I do not find the pedometer I will purchase another one next Monday. You GO, Suzy! That's what I like about this challenge too...when I look at my pedometer and the numbers are a little low I also think of the challenge and my fellow Sparkers and it usually motivates me to get my rear in gear :)

Wow, Welcome to all newcomers to the pedometer tracking topic and its sure is nice seeing team members from the September one back and ready to move!

I am going to be honest, for the 1st day of October I was lacking some serious motivation- I think its due to all the rain we've had this week. It kept me inside and away from my outdoor walks which neither myself or my furry coaches, Nitro & Bruin were to thrilled about.

I want you guys to know when I looked at my pedometer earlier and saw only a litle over 7000 steps, I told myself you'd better find some way to get those numbers up. You've got a team full of amazing Sparkers following and you can't let them down. So, I got myself to almost 11,000 steps today because of you all. Thanks for motivating me on even one of my rare "blah" days.

September's steps went well but not the biking, so that's the focus this month. I'm going for 385,000 steps, but want to increase miles to 180. That means I'll have to add at least 3 10-minute bike rides/week. Should be real easy! If I can't do it in the a.m. when I prefer, it will be at night just before dinner.

Food goals- stay within range again.

I started September using my Ipod's fitness tracker to track my steps. I thought I'd go fancy and buy a pedometer. The pedometer's face broke off the first day I put it on. After that, it never measured my miles correctly. So, I'll go back to my Ipod and using the Spark Fitness Map tracker to calculate the miles for my morning or extended walks.

In September I wore my pedometer but there were several days I missed reporting. The computer was down and when I fell behind, I never caught up. Today is a fresh beginning and I will try not to miss reporting.

Hi Team,
We got off to a great start for our Fall in September, and I want to applaud everyone who took up the challenge, put on those pedometers and moved forward either in steps, healthy habit focus, or activities.

Now more than ever with the true start to Fall its time to get us all moving and finding motivation wherever we can especially with the added holidays ahead of us. So if you've been wearing a pedometer or just bought on- get them on. Need help- give us a holler we are here to help and encourage!

My recommendation is YES, put it on as soon as you are up and out of bed and don't take it off until you know you're done for the night and getting ready to hit the sack. If your pedometer model saves & stores a number of days total step count, then just check in and enter your data when you can (mine stores data for 7 days with display function). If it helps motivate and keep you more accountable to huddle in each day and add your steps, Go For It.

Just work on moving each day, and set your own personal challenge.

This thread is to record your steps/miles (if your pedometer is program to track that too) for the month of October. Set yourself either a total daily, weekly, or monthly step goal and a focus point to work on.

Copy and past the following. Then each day or every couple of days come to the same list and EDIT it, putting in your steps for that day.

**Do not start another Reply screen, just edit the one you started. Showing others our steps should help us keep accountable and motivated to move to our own beat!

You will be surprised how fast those steps add up by the end of the month and how much you accomplished!
