All the comments here are a wonderful trubute to this holy Christmas celebration of our Kings birth. May God bless you all.
In GOD We Trust Choose To Lose "If you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired." -General George S Patton, U.S.Army, 1912 Olympian
I've learned to accept the pain, trials, tribulations and tests given me by Him. It took a long time for me to get to this point. But now that I have understood this scenario(s), when I am encountering one, I remember to STOP, take a deep breath and imagine myself taking one step back before acting. Then, when it dawns on me that I have been CHOSEN to be "persecuted with Christ", I accept it and proclaim it verbally to Him and thank Him for it. Before I get through that process, the pain, trial, tribulation and/or test has passed. It's amazing. It's almost like He needs to know that I understand, accept and am here for Him.
We ask God for our needs and sometimes we get them and sometimes we don't. Love of self and others is all He asks of us. I have chronic pain and try hard to stay away fro the pills. I keep a positive attitude by saying, Good morning world. It is going to be a great day because I woke up this morning. I have problems during the day as do others. I can't sleep well at night and find the mornings difficult to navigate but I know I am here for a reason & I trust God with my soul!
Thank you for your post.
Slow & steady makes a winner of us. Even if we hit pitfalls, get up. Know that a new day is right around the corner. Try to be all that you can be. Work at it a day at a time.

I was always told to ask God for what I need not want. That has worked well for me.
"The world is one country and mankind its citizens" one of the many truths spoken by Baha'u'llah and "Love is the light that guideth in darkness, the living link that uniteth God with man, that assureth the progress of every illumined soul."
Um, and just how is it that you think pain draws you away from worldly woes? Maybe I need you to define what your saying. I suffer from chronic pain, which draws me closer to my pain pills and makes it harder to deal with everything else.

The Blessing of No I asked God to take away my pride. God said, "No. It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up."
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, "No. Her spirit was whole, her body was only temporary."
I asked God to grant me patience. God said, "No. Patience is a by-product of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is earned."
I asked God to give me happiness. God said, "No. I give you blessings, happiness is up to you."
I asked God to spare me pain. God said, "No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me."
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, "No. I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things."
I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as God loves me. God said... "Ahhhh, finally you have the idea!"
"There's a time and place for everything, for everyone. God works in a mysterious way."
