A friend gave me beets from her garden and I am going to roast them tonight. I've had canned beets and have to say I really don't care for them. This should be interesting!

Mission accomplished - I tried Baby Bok Choy (which I had miraculously never had before) on the BBQ and it was amazing. I mixed a little soy sauce, ginger, garlic and rice vineagar with sesame oil and drizzled it over the bok choy heads. Then I tossed them in the grill basket over medium heat for about 15 minutes - awesome! My one caution would be to wash the little mini-"heads" of bok choy thoroughly, since it took me awhile to get the grit out completely.

Also, since there seem to be a lto of us trying my personal favourite QUINOA, here's a link to a favourite recipe ofr mine from Coach Stepfanie, which has "hidden" quinoa in an awesome and filling casserole. Yum!

For the person who finds they love the grapes-a 1/2 cup serving of grapes is only 48 calories! They make a wonderful snack! I eat them with a sandwich at lunch too.

yogurt is NOT for me . I get very sick from it.
I tried musk mellon today , pretty good . Also black seedless grapes. They are good so they're probably fattening

For those of you trying greek yogurt, and those that already love it, I'll be posting a new recipe today that uses greek yogurt. You'll never know its there. This is especially for MS_SWEETHEART, just in case she doesn't like the yogurt, but doesn't want to throw away food.

I can honestly say that I love quinoa, greek yougurt and hummus. My mother is trying to get me to try
vegetable protein. She claims that you can use to make hamburgers and meatloaf with it. I don't know. I guess I will give it a try. I'll let you know what I think.

I also like hummus. You can make it inexpensively with a can of chickpeas (garbanzo beans). There are several recipes on Sparkrecipes.com.

I had one brand that I didn't care for too much with veggies, so I mixed some in with hard boiled eggs to make an egg-salad sandwich. It was pretty good. I've also mixed hummus into tuna for tuna salad.

MS_SWEETHEART, Don't be afraid. That's why we are "trying" new things. If you don't like it, you never have to have it again.

Humus is delish! I make my own some times. I like it on pita bread, or just plain toast. It is a good thing to eat before a hard work out. It gives me lots of energy.

I just picked up a few groceries and saw an orange-skinned honeydew melon. Never saw anything like it before. I am going to eat it tonight before my night time 5k. Figure I better get the carbs in before I run.

I buy the Fage 0% Fat Free Greek Yogurt in the 1K (35.3 ounces) containers at Costco. It's a lot cheaper than at the grocery stores. The individual servings are too expensive.

I figure that I save so much on other groceries at Costco that I can splurge on the yogurt. As an example, I buy the 9-pound box of Quaker Old Fashioned Oatmeal for less than $8.00 and it lasts me several months. That's a lot cheaper than buying cereals at the grocery store.

I've never heard of tofu noodles. I'll have to find them locally and give them a try.

By the way - I've tried the MorningStar products and love them. My favorite are the chic patties, but they are breaded so I'm staying away.

I'll have to comb the farmers market to find something I've never tried, though, since I tend to be a pretty adventurous eater. Maybe some sort of weird/obscure spice or grain?

Quinoa and Greek Yogourt are both favs of mine - and so easy! You can actually cook quinoa just like rice in an electric rice cooker, if you want. Easy peasy. Good luck!

I'm going to try something I heard about from my Hungry Girl cookbook-tofu shirataki noole substitute. I love noodles, and these are significantly lower in calories than pasta...so I'll give them a try and see!
My DH and I already tried Morning Star meatless grilled burgers, and love them! They are low enough in calories that I can have a whole bun (whole wheat bagel thins) with it! And cheese!

I'm going to have to search for a new food to try. I've already tried Greek yogurt (prefer regular!) and artichokes (this is FOOD???) and have even tried calamari (too tough for me!). The challenge will be finding SOMETHING locally that I HAVEN'T tried at least once (or maybe tried and forgot about).

I love Greek yogurt! It has more protein than regular style yogurt which has more calcium.

The Fage 0% fat-free Greek yogurt is the best IMHO. I make smoothies with it, mix in fresh fruit, and some Grape Nuts for a quick breakfast. It makes wonderful dips, and can be used in place of sour cream on a baked potato.

I've tried other brands, but some of them have a sour taste. Fage tastes like sour cream to me. I've tried Chobani but didn't care for it. I haven't tried any of the flavored ones, because I'm trying to avoid artificial sweeteners, flavors & colors.

Greek Yogurt -- I know some of you already eat greek yogurt, but I'm a bit behind the times. I've been meaning to try it, and I haven't.

My friend RunKitty26 gave me a recipe for chicken alfredo that is healthy and has greek yogurt. So I'll make that.

This is a one day challenge for Sunday or Monday, which ever day you pick, try a new healthy food.

If you have ideas for healthy foods, post them here. If you need ideas for new healthy foods, just ask here.

A new food could be a fruit or vegetable you see at the store, but never pick up. It could be a new healthy recipe for a dish, or a smoothie. It could be a substitution of a good ingredient for a bad one in your favorite recipe. Anything goes.

*** Don't forget to tell us what new healthy food you are trying and how did you like it.
