I try to not deprive myself of the things that I really like such as candy or other sweets I just have it in moderation instead. I also try to eat meals that are high in nutrients and low in calories and fat. What I mainly do to keep healthy is limit my meals to three larger meals a day, with maybe one snack in between so that I wont be hungry all day or end up snacking at night time. And I also try my best to stay away from the processed foods like chips and cookies, even if they are baked, because there are always much better alternatives that have a lot more nutrients to help your body stay healthy. Lastly, I do NOT fry, not even sautee, anything because that would be like drinking glass of cooking oil with your side salad or something. Way too many calories are added so its best to just say no! emoticon

To be healthy I am:

Limiting processed foods, replacing bread and pasta with quinoa, brown rice and sweet potatoes
Eating tons of fruits and veggies every day, finding new ways to add leafy greens to all kinds of dishes
Not drinking soft drinks, full-stop
Gardening, riding my horse, and doing 60-minute cardio sessions at the gym, as well as core training several times per week
Getting 8 hours of sleep each night, sometimes 9+ on the weekends!
Staying away from the cakes/cookies/doughnuts at the office
Making sure I get some R&R after my demanding job
Raising my own laying hens for healthy, natural eggs
Growing a vegetable garden for fresh, organic veggies and the exercise and peace of mind I get from tending to it

I'm up at my usual time every morning, after my devotion time. I'm up and about in the garden, sometimes I walk over to the neighbor to bring her any fruit i know she can use, yard work and hanging laundry,a little play time with the grands and that is only Fridat & Saturday.
Sunday is the Lord's day ,up early prepare the lunch, then off to Church for 9:00am, Sunday School followed by Praise & worship which is bill as (Worship Unusual) when the Holyspirit is in control you do experience WORSHIP in a new dimension. Sometimes on reaching home 2:00 or 3:00pm the only thing to be done is to sleep for a while befor eating dinner. I don't worry about weight watching on weekends at all. For me that's well taken care of . emoticon

I'm pretty good friends with my treadmill. Now that the weather is more summer-like my husband and I like to ride our bikes. I also try to walk my dog (early before it gets too hot). Portion-control, eating more fruits & veggies and not eating out much. Also, try to keep a good attitude and not get upset at stupid, little things (like I used to when I was younger!). I also love puzzle books and work them frequently to keep my brain functioning (although I've heard pros and cons about how much good it really does!).

Things I do:
* Exercise in a hot (physical therapy) pool 3 times a week. Cardio and strengthening as long as I go on schedule. Without this pool? I have trouble functioning. It is not just something I do; it is heavenly!
* Drink water 20 minutes before cooking and/or before eating a meal.
* Shop for groceries in the perimeter, only getting certain things from the aisles of canned and packaged foods. Examples? Quinoa, brown rice, packaged and canned beans of varieties...
* Measure and log my food intake.
* Daily flexible routine of stretches and floor exercises for a minimum of 15 minutes...no matter how I feel. (have fibromyalgia, so this is a biggie)
* Walk!! If I can't get outdoors for a walk, I walk in circles around my home.
* WEAR A PEDOMETER ALL THE TIME!!! As you can tell, this is important to me. My pedometer is a true measure of my activity level.
* Do exercises with the Wii Fit Plus Program at least 4 days a week, doing various exercises but whatever other ones I do I spend a minimum of 12 minutes on cardio exercises.
* Listen to peppy music while doing housework and adding stretches as I move around performing the chores.
etc...
For my health:
* Periodically consult an RD (dietician) about my progress; used to go weekly for two years. This is all about my health.
* Regular doctor visits, lab tests.
* Make sure I spend at least 10 minutes every few hours just relaxing. I pace my physical movements so that I am active AND rest in a way that doesn't tire me out or make my muscles too underused. (this is a physical therapy mandate)
* I smile. Yes, plain and simple but necessary for health. Try it. Look in a mirror at yourself...and smile. Very healthy 'exercise'!

How do I keep healthy on the weekend? I work! It keeps me active (and away from the internet) and since I have to help my clients make healthy choices, I have to set a good example. It's a win-win!
