I love the chirping birds and watching them teach the baby birds how to fly, and seeing everyone's yards in full bloom and watching the squirrels play in my backyard...But after mid March I start dreading the rest of Spring, because I know summer's on the way. We've had extremely hot summers here for the past 5 years, and my activity level goes way down in summer because I don't tolerate heat very well.

Love hearing the birds singing and the sunshine so bright and warm. I know it wont be long til summer and then its BEACH time! My plans this year is to do alot of walking on the beach. Most of the time I do good just to make it to the closes area and spread the blanket and Im done! Going to change that!

I love spring because it isn't as hot as summer. I am alergic to the sun. I can't stay outside when it is very hot. It causes me to be very sick and to get blisters under the skin. But during
the spring I can get out and walk, garden and play with my dogs outside. I am looking forward
to it.

Longer daylight hours, working in my garden, watching the trees budding out and flowers everywhere: spring is awesome! But PENGUINROSS I can relate to dreading the upcoming heat and humidity as I live in Houston, TX. So we have to get out there and enjoy it while it lasts!

I guess I am going to alter my earlier (Feb 23rd) reply a bit. I am enjoying the current weather as it is pleasant, not too hot. And the mosquitos are scarce.

The azaleas are starting to bloom and the camillias continue to flower. So, all is well.

I have enjoyed reading the post on this topic.

I love the Spring flowers coming up and watching the buds and leaves open up on the trees. People are outside more and the neighborhoods also come alive. I also like the longer hours of daylight. Without the heavy coats and boots, you just feel like getting out more and moving. There are a few ponds near our house and I love to see the new baby ducks and geese waddling behind their mothers. So cute and adorable.

O, yeah! Garden season - I should have peppers and tomatillas growing - guess I'm a turtle there, too! Better get cracking! Also, pool opening means I can swim every day, Yay! Hoping to make a 5k Mar. 12th, if snow does not intervene, still a possibility here. But it is warming, snow leaves quickly, birds returning, emoticon

Some asked about my Spring in Africa. We don't have it here. It is continually summer here. Flowers grow year round. No snow. No cold weather. The weather is about 78-90 in the day and 72-80 at night often with 80% humidity! That means that 72 degrees, with 80% humidity can FEEL pretty cool and I usually sleep with a fan on but with a quilt. I like the breeze in my face. Our seasons are Wet, Dry, Wet Dry. We actually have rains about 8-9 months of the year. It is now rainy season so it gets very sunny and then suddenly gets black clouds and rain, often in the late afternoon.

Yes, if you've noticed my friend feed I've had Spring Fever and have already been to LOWES for pansies to plant in my drab looking flower beds. The daffodils are up and opening with their sunny faces, and I've got leaf buds going on around here. I am even happy to see dandelions in the lawn since its a nice splash of color.

Spring temps are the best here in NC, since I don't have to deal with the humidity so its my main time outside doing LOTS of yardwork, garden prep and planning, and playing with my flower beds. I spend as much time as I can outdoors and take advantage of the sun and warmth by walking, walking the dogs, and have even been known to show up at my elderly neighbor's home with yard tools in hand to tackle her yard since I know she has arthritis issues. Even my husband and son are motivated to get outside and more apt to join me in doing an evening walk with the dogs. Since I know have my license I plan on going exploring with my newfound freedom and walking new trails, parks, and taking my son to the beaches before tourism starts.

Well, well, well. I just read all the posts and find myself in the minority! In fact, I may be entirely alone. I do enjoy the new flowers, even though we usually have something in bloom almost all the time. ( I live in Louisiana, about an hour southeast of New Orleans.)

I do not like the heat of our summers, the humidity, the mosquitos. I allow my fear or dread of the more severe conditions of summer prevent me from enjoying spring. So I must admit I do enjoy the soft breeze and moderate temps of spring....but I know temps of atleast 80degrees F will be part of it.

My home state is Indiana; I left there when I got married at age 21. I have definitely learned to love Louisiana BUT I really like cold weather, snow, winter clothes. I could happily live where it never got hotter than 75degrees. So, I sadly watch spring approach.

Carolyn, you are in Africa. Are you going to have a spring? What part of Africa are you in anyway? In the part of Mexico I am in spring isn't really much but summer is brutal, 40degrees celcius plus a lot. By the time we go back to Canada I hope summer will be underway but I doubt it. It will be chilly. Though the trees will be leafed out and quite a few of the flowers will be up. That will be May.

I like snow as long as I don't have to drive in it, but the short gloomy days of winter are getting me down. I'm so happy the days are getting longer. And my garden is calling me! Bring on spring!

I really am looking forward to the warmer weather and being able to get outdoors with less clothing on which enables me to walk better. When the weather is nice, I am more consistent about getting out and not using the cold as an excuse. Also, love it when the first spring breeze comes along and the birds chirp and the flowers/trees start budding.

I'm looking forward to it because of more daylight AND I want to increase my walking miles OUTSIDE!! I refuse to do that in the snow!! I don't like cold/ice etc so have been walking inside with Leslie Sansone DVDs -- which I enjoy but I'd SO MUCH rather be OUTSIDE! So am looking forward to warmer temps and nicer weather!

Yes it does! emoticon I have already planted my green pepper seeds and am looking forward to starting my tomato plants in the next week or 2. I love to get my fresh veggies going even with over 2 feet of snow on the ground. Also, planned at least 3 camping trips for this summer last weekend. Hiking is awesome! The snow storm we had this past weekend put kind of a damper on things, but have to keep a positive outlook. SPRING WILL COME!
