Update: I ran the 5K, my first 5K, and did better than I had hoped. I finished at 29:51 and ran the whole thing. That was 143 out of 500 entrants and 11 in my age/ gender group so i am very pleased.
I do recommend this run. It's a nice jaunt through downtown, looping around Rice park and a brief pass down to Shephard. Unfortunately this means you need to climb up Jackson from Shepard to Kellogg, but it's over quickly.
I work for Securian and I have not participated in this race. Kind of sad....
But the 29th we have sport functions for our kids so the race is out for me again this year.

I've never done a 5k, I'm not a runner.. but I did see on the site that the 5k was open to walkers as well.
I already have plans on the 29th though
Good luck VALKYR8!
Too cold =P I'm a wimp when it comes to running outdoors in adverse weather.
I heard, if you break a cookie in half.... all of the calories fall out... megsfitness.wordpress.com
Thanx for the info. I've been debating if I'll do it. I just did the Polar Dash 10k. I'm not sure I can persuade my family to watch me run another winter race. But we'll see.
You don't have to go fast, you just have to go!
I wanted to get the word out about the Securian Winter Run. There is a 5K, 10K (new this year) and Half Marathon distance for the run. I'm running the 5K, my first 5K, and I think there is still time to train if people are interested.
Deadline to register is January 25th.
