Walks to heighten awareness of issues and diseases as well as raise funds are an important part of our social fabric. It's amazing how many there are. I am on one of the committees for the annual Arthritis Foundation walk on September 25, and I was amazed at how difficult it was to find a weekend when there were only 3 or 4 competing walks. If you have a special interest and would like to support it by participating in a walk, The Walking Site is a great resource for both finding walks and preparing for them www.thewalkingsite.com/events.html
If you would like to participate in the 2010 Arthritis Walk in Edina on September 25, here's a link twincities2010.kintera.org/faf/home/defaul
I have arthritis, and I know firsthand how much it can change one's life. I'll be at the walk and hope to see some of you there. Whatever your cause, participate in a walk or in several walks. It's good for your heart and for your soul!
