My husband and I have been in the parade - as costumed characters or staff - for 14 years. He's a float driver, piloting the Mother Goose float this year. I've been working the Pinocchio float as a pacer every night this year.
In front of the Church of Scientology (between 10th and 11th Street) is a good spot to watch the parade. It's rarely crowded there, likely because there are no skyways, restaurants, bars or coffee shops next to it. To watch in the skyway, the last one on Nicollet Mall (between Dorsey-Whitney and Gaviidae) is the least crowded one. The street near that skyway is a bit less crowded typically, too.
