yeah Marley did that too now she has learned to say something to do what with she sees on the page. unless it's a book that she's kinda memorized then i'll get to hear a little bit more.

It's really not me being super mom i swear. Her personality has always been wanting to know everything. One day we were watching PBS and there was a commercial for ABC mouse and i looked it up and decided it was just what we needed. you get a free month when you sign up and i spent the whole month just trying to get her to learn how to use the mouse i actually deactivated my account because i thought she just wasn't ready yet. then a couple days later she woke up and wanted to play and that was it. she just figured it out and hasn't stopped ever since. It was really worth buckling down and working with her for the first month and a half to get her to know how to use it. she now wakes up in the am and goes right to my computer and clicks on the internet short cut on my desk top and then the link to abc mouse in the tool bar and plays for a good hour every morning before waking me up for the day then a couple time during the day she sill go back to it.
it's amazing. and complexly worth it at only $8 a month. www.abcmouse.com/home#abc/student_ho

Wow, Jamie!!! You are an amazing Mom!!

Right now I'm just trying to make it through the day. It's "summer vacation" at daycare, so she really isn't learning much, which means I haven't been teaching her anything either.

She has started to "read" books on her own. It is funny to watch her look at the picture and come up with random words. Most of the time she just repeats the same sentence for each page. LOL.

Marley is learning what all the letter sounds are she's always asking what a certain word starts with.

she just learned how to count down from ten.

she's working on being able to get dressed by her self but gets frustrated easily so i think that's still going to take a long time.

she's learning how to trace and do mazes and dot to dots and paint by numbers

swimming is the big one right now she's close maybe by the end of summer she will be swimming on her own.

Lillian is learning how to recognize letters as well. It's sort of become an obsession for her. Almost annoying. If I have to read another ABC book, I will scream!

I hear ya about the listening skills. Frustrating.

She was the star student at school last week, and on her last day my parents and I attended Chapel. She was the only one who wouldn't sit in a chair, was trying to get on stage when the chapel director was talking, and threw a piece of food on stage. Oh.My.Gosh. So this is what my child is like at school? Lovely.

I'm also getting impatient with her needing to do everything herself. When she takes her sweet time and I'm in a hurry, I usually take over and then she bursts into tears.

Three years of age should be easier, right???

Marley is now starting to really learn what letters mean. I'll say a word and ask her what letter it starts with and she gets it most of the time. knows the sounds. It's insane.

the newest thing we taught her is how to read street lights red= stop ect.

Swimming is really coming along she kicks and paddles with her arms now, she can swim with a nuddle like a motor boat by her self which is soo much fun for me to be able to dog paddle beside her.

something else that's new is she can take her shoes and jacket off by her self now and if i start the zipper she pulls it the rest of the way. This has made a big difference for me. :) getting her shoes on she can do but it takes her sooo long that most of the time i just step in and do it for her (i know bad)

she's got a little attitude as of late. She will shhhhhh me and it makes me crazy mad... leave the room mad. i have no idea why but it just strikes something in me and it's bad.

she has started to run to the other parent if one says no looking for a different answer.

Her listening following skills have gone out the window as of this week. I have to call her a zillion times now before she will come it's super frustrating.

she's harder to take on long car rides now then when she was little.... i didn't see that one coming for some reason seems pretty obvious now.

ok so last time i wrote in here i said that we were giving up on the ABC Mouse thing for a while because Marley was just having too hard of a time with it. we gave it up for 4 days then she asked about playing it so we sat down once again and tried. it's been about 1.5 months and she just graduated from the first part of the program!! she loves it, we use it every day and she can use most of the site all by her self now. I can finally get some work done because it keeps her attention and she's learning the whole time. It's great!!!

Marley has learned a lot by playing games on my kindle fire. there's a lot of them for our age kids. if you have a kindle i would highly recommend it. its really nice if we have to sit in a waiting room or if we go out to eat or something to keep her busy. just make sure you set up a pass word or else Lillian will buy a bunch of stuff :)

all of these have free versions that let you play the games and if you like then you can buy then and it makes more of the game available to you. I've never spent more then $2 on a game. Totally worth it.

the best ones are:
Lola's math train
Lola's alphabet train
barnyard games for kids (this one is the best for shapes and colors)
Lola's i spy
animal hide and seek
pre school and kindergarten learning games
trains, planes, & see vehicles -puzzles for toddlers
undersea adventure

Also when we first started letting her play with it we made her play it on the floor and not hold it (she was pretty little then) then we let her sit on the bed and play it figuring if she dropped it that it would be ok. now she can carry it around the house with her. We have just been very stern about how she has to treat it with care and be supper gentle and careful with it.

last month i signed up for ABC Mouse. com you pay like $7 a month (like netflix) to have an account on their site. it's like a online preschool. has tons of educational stuff to do including the first step of teaching your kid how to use a mouse. well the site is great but we are going to revisit it in a few months because she get really frustrated trying to use the mouse and that made her loos interest in it. it says it's for 2 and up but Marley had a hard time with it. the good thing is it gives you the first month free so you can try it out.

Does anyone else have any that helps your kids learn??

LOL, Jamie! You've got a little comedian on your hands.

Lil can count to ten, and sometimes 15. She knows some shapes, but doesn't know any colors. That is something that she hasn't been able to pick up.

She knows a lot of songs. I taught her the first few lines of Silent Night around Christmas and it was so sweet when she would sing it...a sweet, jumbled mess. :)

I am getting more amazed with the things that she says. Her speech has really improved over the past couple of weeks. I guess a kid at daycare hit her and she told her, "I don't like it! I don't like it Kennedy!" LOL. If I trip or something, she will say, "Are you okay Mommy? Are you okay?" Her latest thing is "I do it all by myself!"

I'm trying to treasure the terrible two's but secretly looking forward to her being three.

She's also starting to manipulate and lie. LOL!

what are your kids doing now??

Marley knows her colors and shapes and can sing the alphabet song but still has trouble actually identifying the names of a few letters when shown.

she actually can sing a bunch of songs now and speaks in sentences sometimes. But at the same time i feel like her speech is back sliding, as i'm having to ask her what two or three times to understand what she's saying and still a lot of the time i have to just say i don't understand. Its weird that mixed with the back sliding potty training i'm started to get a little concerned.

She counts to 12 perfectly but forgets 13,15,19 and for the life of me can't seem to teach them to her when we try to reach 20. as far as counting objects she only half gets it. she'll point to lets say hearts on a page and count but will count some twice and some not at all until she get's to whatever number she wants.

she does please and thank you we are working on excuse me instead of just pushing through people.

she comes up with all kinds of crazy stuff. the other day we put on her jacket and she grabbed her scarf and put it on and said, "everybody loves my scarf".
she'll do what we ask her and then say, "are you happy now" but she really does mean it... it's hilarious.
dad has a hard time getting out of bed and i asked her today from in the shower where daddy was and she said, "in bed, daddy really sad"
idk but she's has a big personality for such a little person

we can now play catch. or well she doesn't catch the ball but she can throw it back to me after i bounce it off her.

she a pretty good help with unloading the dish washer now.

o and last thing she learned was how to dance Gangnam style. lol

Marley just mastered telling people her name when asked.
She's runs up to kids at the playground and pats her chest saying "MARLEY MARLEY" it's cute but also scares away the older kids :)

We are trying to get her to hi correctly. right not if someone says hi to her she reply's with a parrot "hi Marley" instead of just "hi" or "hi so and so"

Another big thing that we are trying to teach her is how to jump. She's almost got it but not quite.

we're working on Please and Thank you now..... But it has back fired.

Marley has been doing fine with going up and down stairs. but now that she knows "Please" she just stands at the top of the stairs and says, "help please". It's horrible because I want to show her that saying help please will get her help but at the same time she's just being lazy.

So Marley has been working on her coloring skills for a while. yesterday we bought her some triangular shaped (yikes style) crayola washable crayons. She has a much easier time with them. she don't have to press down as hard to make vivid colors and they seem easier to hold. If you have your little ones coloring i would recommend find those :)

It is funny how they will go through stages on things. Arianna was giving high fives but now she looks at you like you are crazy if you hold up your hand! It would be cool if she could knock; she just bangs!

It's sooo cute that she changes her voice!! I would think that's a really hard concept to get.
Marley has more stuffed animals than dolls but she loves to give them hugs and kisses.
Super Mom I'm not, I have a great family support system. I think it's easier to teach her things because once she starts to pick up on something we have everyone around her work on the same thing. She get's to see a bunch of different people doing the same thing. It's great that our kids are learning to be so loving :)

Wow Jamie, you are super mom! I just try to get through the day. LOL. Lillian has been very interested in opening and closing doors lately, so I am teaching her how to knock and I say "Who's there?"

She really likes role playing with her dolls. She will pick one up and totally change her voice when she talks to them. Her voice gets really soft and she says "Hi Baby". Then she'll hug it and pat it's back and say "Shhh". She even will put a sippy cup up to the doll's lips. I can tell she mimics how we interact with her and what she sees at daycare. She is my little mama. :)

For Marley.

to give kisses
if your happy and you know it.. clap, pat your head, stomp your feet
how to scribble
we play the name it game all the time asking her to point at objects that we see and when we tell her to find a clock she'll point to it and then I'll say tick tick tick tock. she moves her head closer and closer to mine with every tick and when i say tock she gives me a little head but. LOL we did it one day and it stuck for some reason. :)

I have friends that showed there little man how to through his hands up when they yell touch down (he now says touch down too) and give high fives.
Another friend showed his daughter how to fist pound
