My main goal this week was to figure out stressors which is BF doesn't have a job and I only work around 25 hours a week (minimum wage) after my job of 15 years shut down in December.
Up until this week he was getting unemployment but no more so I don't know how I will pay rent next week (we pay weekly).
I am trying to deal with this without overeating. Reading book or walking instead of eating.
Wishing everybody luck with this stress challenge

My goals are to journal daily and after I journal to leave it there. I will not bring the worries with me after I write it down.
Work on getting my family on a schedule.
Communicate the reason for my stress and worries with my fiancé.

My main goal is to meditate daily. I find when I do this I am more in tune with my feelings and can identify them and communicate them if needed. :)

Not sure if this is the norm, but I've had people tell me to calm down before, and I didn't really understand. I always feel like I'm in complete control of myself (except for a bout of depression in the 90s). But I realize that's just an additional adrenal reaction to events I really can't control. It gives me the illusion of being "calm, but determined." I know when I'm really under stress that my jaw clenches shut. An odd thing - someone at work who is considered not-entirely-stable went off on me over a week ago and said some hurtful things, and not all the observations were entire off-base. Food for thought. As a result I resolved to shut up at work and mind my own beeswax. It was more out of anger at first, but I've noticed less drama in around our cubicles, and I'm actually able to focus more on my work. We're still crazy over-tasked with the work of 2 other departments, but despite the insanity-level multi-tasking, I feel like I'm more even. Plus it's been 2 whole weeks without caffeinated soda (and I'm tapering off the Excedrin Migraine.) I'm making myself sleep more. Weight is not going anywhere, but I figure if I'm more together, I can do more, more efficiently. We'll see.

Oh Ariana, I had one of those. After ridding myself of the excess baggage my stress decreased but did not resolve itself entirely. I don't know how your feeling right now but when it happened to me I was devastated and swore away dating, convinced it wasn't worth the effort. I had a real self esteem problem afterward, I couldn't figure out why I wasn't enough. Why he didn't just tell me he wanted a divorce instead of cheating and hiding it? Did he think that I was stupid, or not worth the truth? A short time later I met my current husband in an online divorce group. We will be together 15 years in October. What may seem to be the end of the world, may actually be the beginning of something better.


Keep pushing through to the other side. emoticon

Well, right now, I cannot avoid the stressful situation that I'm in (divorcing my lying, cheating, scumbag husband of just 8 meager months)....BUT after September, I will be able to handle my stress a lot better.

My goal to combat stress is to think.... don't react under stress. I have problems sometimes on acting on my emotions. Isn't logical. So, to fix this.. I'll take a few deep breaths... step away from situation and then make my judgment.

Unfortunately I cannot find a way to avoid my stress triggers at this time. But I can find a few ways to take some time to meditate. So that is my goal for this week. Find 20 minutes a day to mediate and focus on my breathing and ignoring the world around me.

My Week 1 goals were to do the "breathe" and "reality check" steps in the article and then write out my "put it into perspective" step. My husband tends to be my biggest trigger when I'm stressed -- very likely more me than him -- so I want to write what the issue was that triggered my reaction and then discuss it later. I've been reasonably successful with this during the first week:) I feel like there's definite progress here and feel good about it.

Goal is to think of something positive for each stress trigger like, "Emergency email = time to shine!" or "Money's tight and can't go out, great time for pot luck game night with friends!" I'm also going to make sure I get some time without anybody else (except for the pups).

Become more organized in household tasks! Too many years have gone by with my head stuck in the sand like an ostrich. Start a reward system - stickers on my calendar (like a little first grade child) for actually getting tasks completed.

I think that my goal will be to try a daily meditation.
I don't often feel overly stressed, but I think that a daily meditation can help me be prepared for those tough days.

I will start with 10 minutes of quiet music before bed.

1. Instead of stress eating - Recognize the emotions and take that time and do a few sets of an exercise.

2. Take 15 minutes in the evening to be quiet and do nothing. Try not to think!

relax more - stay tense most of the time - need to get back into my exercise - meds are not adjusted right yet to do more .. self medicating - doctors around here just do not listen - go by numbers instead - venting now ... I live a lone - on disability and it does not pay enough to live - just exist ..

My goal is to work on being PROactive and not REactive. I have the tools to manage stress, I would just like to be able to identify stress as it is coming on not as it is full and brooding.

My goal to identify stress is this:

Can I control a situation?

Yes -- do what I can to change it.

No -- accept the fact that I have no control and let it go, control my own response to it.

Also, make sure that I am eating when hungry so I am not HANGRY and getting enough sleep so I can have the right mindset for dealing with life.
