Hello

My week 1 goals are:
1: Go on a walk/jog with my older daughter. It'll be cold but it's not raining this week.
2: Eat at the table 3 times this week.
3: Keep tv time to 1 hr. I'm not even sure what it is right now so this will at least set a benchmark.

Slowly changing my mindset, my relationship with food, and my desire to truly be healthy has led to a true change in lifestyle. This is motivating!

My goals for week 1:
1. Meal pan for the next week, so that we don't have to eat out at all. This will be challenging because as a family we enjoy eating out, but know it is a healthier choice to et at home. It will also be a challenge with thanksgiving and visiting family next week. We tend to eat out when we are visiting family. I will meal plan, Sunday nov 18-sat 24
2. Reduce screen time 2 hrs/ day for kids, 4 hrs/day for me...also a challenge because I like o be on the computer and enjoy snuggling with kids while they wind down with watching tv...

Our Week 1 goals are

1a Total Weekly screen time for Crusoe 1.75 hours (15 mins per day). It's only reducing it a little from what it is now, so I am hoping it won't be a problem. This time does not include our Friday movie and pizza night.

1b Total Weekly screen time for me - 28 hours. I work on my computer, plus spark people. I find it very easy to lose a whole day at the screen. So unless i have a job pending, I plan to use this week to cut my on-screen habit.

2. Have one family meeting to decide on meals (Crusoe chooses 2 cards from a healthy recipes box) and activities for the week. It's school holidays here so a great opportunity to find some fun active adventures to have together. Crusoe loves learning to cook and inventing meals so I include 3 meals this week that he cooks.

3. Eat meals together, at the table, 2 times per day, no screens on. (Allow for Friday pizza and movie night)

a lot of disagreements about food choices but so far eating healthy prevails!

The screen time goal is the hard one. Not because we watch that much TV. We don't even have cable, but we do play games. That plus time on the internet plus I never really realized how much time my husband spends on a tablet or his phone or other "screens" Made me realize this challenge is harder than just cutting down on TV time. But here's to it, it's important.

So far so good

1. To cook healthier meals at least 4 times a week
2. To get ALL the kids to eat at home for at least 2 meals EVERY day
3. To only have the t.v. on 2 hours a day or less
4. Getting the kids to remember them sitting in front of the t.v. or using there phone during dinner is NOT spending dinner time as a family!

Remember, YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Great idea havjng meals outside. We should enjoy this weather before it changes. I have learned that the key is planning meals. It takes a bit of time but it helps keep you from grabbing not-so-healthy items. I only allow myself to buy lunch once in a while and even that is usually planned.

You can do it.
