I feel your pain! I too have been working hard to incorporate healthy meals into our family lifestyle with picky eaters. My 4 year old will eat something one day, but not the next, which makes it extra difficult. She has a tendency to not eat meat too, so I just try to incorporate protein in other ways. If the kids love fruit give them some peanut butter to dip in or put it in some greek yogurt to get some protein! My husband doesn't like vegetables either, but will eat them in casseroles or mixed in with something else. I mix cauliflower in with mashed potatoes, broccoli in with a lot of chicken dishes I make, corn and peppers in with my mexican dishes. I always mix in some veggies when we're having rice. It's hard at first, but slowly your family will start getting used to the healthier meals and it will be come the normal. Good luck!!!
I just re-found this forum once again :) GREAT TIMING since am trying to figure out what to do and ways to incorporate veggies and fruit into our meals easily. I have to still read the Week 1 goals etc.
I have a family of 5 so trying to make sensible meals to feed every one without it being speghetti. I've been trying to re-vamp meals with the SparkPeople recipes :) they have been a lifesaver :) But still have a hard time trying to get something everyone will eat.
I have two picky eaters...neither of them like meat :( where the rest of us are meat eaters. I can if lucky get the youngest one to eat hot dog (she's 5 going to be 6 in October). The other picky eater is 12 and is ADHD so her meds cause her not to eat (usually misses lunch) and lately just not eating hardly all day! no change in med;s so not sure. They both love fruit but then that tends to be what they mostly eat. Still like to see or have them eat more meat. Youngest one will eat vegtables...depending on what they are.
My husband doesn't like vegtables so today made a pepper steak and he loved that and I added shredded zuccini into it as well...he noticed but ate it anyhow...will eat fruit sometimes. but mostly eats junk...usually behind my back which irriates me! Especially now that I'm trying to create meal plans, etc. His schedule is up and down some days some nights. Hard to plan around but am trying (his schedule just started to be both days and nights).
Any suggestions would be great :)
