There also is a section on composting; so i built a composter and placed it near the garden. i have a small garden; the snow peas are finished but still have some lettuce, carrots, and tomatoes. my only herb is a small pot of chives, which look nothing like those i remember from my grandmother's in wisconsin. maybe too hot here. i still cut them and put them in salad.

I've got a few pots with herbs growing. It's nice to be able to go out to the deck and pluck some off the plant and put them in whatever I'm cooking. I've been adding mint or basil to my water bottle in the mornings just to add some flavor. Since I started this challenge, I've actually gotten to where I prefer salsa over salad dressing. I'm still exploring....

Thank you, Seawave! I never knew that column was there. I have my peat pots and tomato and rosemary seeds in, and some asparagus roots, but haven't gotten them started yet. I'm going to check out "Backyard Gardening" today!

There's a "Backyard Gardening" section in the Healthy Lifestyles - Lifestyle Centres menu. Lots of helpful info there for a beginner. There's nothing like getting fresh veg and herbs from the garden in the summer. Happy gardening!

I love to grow fresh vegetables. It makes it so much easier to prepare healthy foods. i cook all kinds of vegetables in the oven with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. This week we had the first asparagus of the season. Yummy!!!!

I don't consider myself a gardener and as a group our yard share wasn't able to focus as much time and energy to our garden this past fall as in other seasons but we STILL got some good food for our meager efforts. I bet you'll do fine. Good luck with your garden!
