Thanks for all the good ideas. Besides using the calculator, I like the idea of entering foods in the groupings. Spark people always have great advice and suggestions. I learn so much from all of you.

Never give up.

|Moomshine - oh boy, do I agree! You should suggest that to the SparkTeam. there is another area that involves extra work - I think, and have suggested, that when we get a comment on our SparkPage or are given a SparkGoodie that there be a link set up so that we can send the contributor an instant reply so that we don\t have to go to their SparkPage to send them a thank-you or make a comment.

I, too, have a collection of recipes that I type in, and I also group the shorter recipes. There should, though, be a way of copying a recipe, nutrition facts and all, then pasting that so we don't have to do all that typing. SparkPeople needs at app for that! 8-)

I use the SparkRecipe feature by filling in the recipe and using their calculator.

I track my homemade meals using the grouping feature. I type in all ingredients as a group, name it, and then figure out what portion I ate, which sometimes can be hard. But overall, I think it is fairly accurate.

3/31/12 Trailbreaker half marathon 13.1 miles in 3 hours 13 minutes
4/20/13 Neighborhood Watch 5K 39:17.6
10/5/13 5K Grace Pet Fest 38:47.6
12/1/13 Secret City Half Marathon around 3 hours and 4 minutes
4/19/14 Butterflies for Hope 5K for Lupus 39:23.8 (I hurt my back a few days before, and though it was my first official 5K with some jogging, my back hurt, so was very slow.)
2/7/15 Hearts & Soles 5K, San Jose 34:50 (Recovering from a cold and wet day.)

Sparkrecipes.com has a recipe calculator to figure it out for you, and you can save your recipes. If it's a simple recipe, though, I just track each ingredient separately.

I love to cook and make healthy meals, but so many recipes don't include nutritional info so it is hard to figure out portion size and nutritional values for these meals. I did buy 1 cookbook that does list this but so many don't. Any suggestions
