My favorite kitchen tool is "the crock pot" although maybe it isn't a tool at all, not sure-- but during the summer-- it saves me from the awful heat in the kitchen and keeps me from slaving over the hot stove!!! Crocky is my best summer friend!

To save time, I use

1) my digital scale in oz. and grams
2) Vitamix blender
3) garlic press
4) pressure cooker braiser pans
5) handheld mixer
6) microwave (for steaming veggies)
7) food processor when have a lot of vegetable volume to prep or need ground meat (I don't trust commercial grinds)

The best part of this tool is that my fingers are not close to the snipping blades like they tend to get with a knife. Admittedly the last two time I had to have stitches it was with using a knife out in the barn in a probably unsafe way lol that flashed before my eyes every time I try something like that again and I am much more careful!

This is probably the ultimate gadget and most people wouldn't see a use for it, but about a month ago I saw a pair of scissors that Ball makes for cutting herbs. Chopping parsley can be a frustrating thing with big clumps escaping your knife or the tips of your fingers making a debut in your parsley potatoes. This pair of scissors has 5 blades that all cut together, just snip snip snip and voila finely chopped parsley, basil, chives or any other fresh herb. I have used it daily since the day I found it and still love using it! I know I have been cooking for long enough to master all kinds of chopping, but there is always that added excitement of delaying your dinner to go to the ER get stitches in the latest knife cut, not to mention the embarrassment of actually going to the ER where you work and everyone already knows you are a klutz.

So many gadgets in my kitchen but I seldom use them. It's the idea I can if I want to but I tend to stick to my older methods and tools. One thing every kitchen should have are good sharp knives.

I have had so many fancy kitchen gadgets, and my son keeps buying me more-- and yet I keep reaching for the older reliable ones that never break, that I have used from decades ago! LOLs.

if you ever catch the KITCHEN on food tv saturday mornings at 11am, they often compare kitchen gadgets to "the old method" it can be very interesting and humorous. my drawers and cupboards are full of gadgets, i mostly use a paper plate and a sharp kitchen knife to prep most of my veggies.

I have most of the tools that I need in my kitchen. The only things that I plan to get is cheese cloth and a coffee grinder. The cheese cloth comes in handy when I need to get the grease that accumulates at the top of the pan. The coffee grinder can be used for other things besides coffee. I would not have known these uses if not for the article and Chef Meg's video.

Wine re-bottler. The vacuum sealed kind. Serious, I went out and bought one yesterday, thinking of my diet plan. Now I can have smaller glasses of wine without the guilt.

The tools I've used most often since cooking healthier? Big sharp chef knives and cutting boards. At least 2 of each every meal. Color coded for raw meat. And my digital kitchen scale.

My tool for saving time? Ziplock bags. When I do have spare time, I chop up a bunch of stuff and throw some in the fridge and some in the freeze.

Despite having a food processor, the one gadget in my kitchen that gets used virtually every meal is my whizzy choppy thing aka mini food chopper. I put nearly every veg in there for chopping in seconds as it's much easier to set up, use and clean than anything else.

My time-saving tools are the microwave, individual smoothie maker, and crock pots. I have found that when cooking for one, some of the tools I once used frequently (when my kids were at home) are just a pain now. For example, I usually use a box grater or knife/cutting board instead of the food processor. I have thought about getting a rice cooker.

The microwave. I cook most things in it, then will brown things up, if needed (like chicken, and "roasted" veggies) in the skillet. If it's just for me, I don't need to brown it up (except for the "roasted" veggies).

The kitchen tools I use most often are my Salter digital scale, my Vitamix blender, and my crockpots ( have a really old one and a newer one). Also have a Infrawave oven, and an old Regal food processor, which still works great! Wouldn't be without a food processor to reduce veggie chopping time! I can't imagine how women cooked in the 1800's when they didn't even have a gas or electric stove!!

My fav. Tools & time savers are my crockpots (3 diff. Sizes) and out nuwave oven. Its very neat and time-saver for making toast or heating up left-overs versus waiting for oven to pre-heat.

have 3 slow cookers, a dehydrador , a food saver (no more freezer burn!), dehydrator, food processor and a blender.

do not have a foods scale but i have multiple sets of measuring cups. the other items in the article i do not have and do not plant to get if i had a large kitchen i would debate on a toaster oven. i rarely eat rice. but i try bulger or quinoa. even eat more legumes to get complex carbs. i am ok with rice but i don't get excited about it.
also i don't juice thigs, i prefer to make smoothies- more fiber and more filling.

When you cook from scratch you need them to make bread and other types of dough, blend things together while you perform other task. My kitchen is sort of like a mini restaurant. I like to create new recipes and these are the tools needed. And you are right I have a system and designed the kitchen with that system in mind.
