I enjoy cooking and I think that is half the battle in terms of time management. I know that I tend to make time to fit the things in my life that I enjoy doing and will procrastinate anything less 'fun' in my mind and/or anything 'new' that will take more time to think through. So cooking won't be my challenge but menu planning and grocery lists will. I am resistant and prefer a more spontaneous approach so will be working on this over these weeks. Number 1 as someone mentioned, is making sure I avoid shopping (with or without a written list) when I am hungry. That way I won't succumb to temptation :)
I am going to get my toaster oven out of the basement. I have one, but have only used it a couple of times, because I just don't know what to make in it. But, I think that roasting cut up veggies in it (like sweet potatoes, for example) will be very fast and tasty.
DRCHULA, congrats on getting a VitaMix! I have wanted one for years. Maybe this Christmas! :)
I have strayed away from my routine. Been on the road since Aug 9. Trying to make the best choices while eating out. Exercise routine is walking.... Will get on the scale when I get home and start over again... In the meantime, will be enjoying friends and family in California...

It has taken me a lot of time to begin a cooking routine...And I seem to be hungry all the time. So I will: Eat before going shopping; Buy in bulk to save money as well; Cook for more than 1 meal (today I made a bean soup that will last for four more meals); Have the kitchen set up for the visual reminder and easy access to food preparation (I brought out the Vita Mix, Crock Pot, Toaster Oven, and Electric Griddle)...Getting a cooking routine on the Ball.
