I don't really enjoy cooking after working all day either. I use my slow cooker quite a bit in the winter months. Summer is a little better because I usually prepare salads and side dishes ahead of time and barbecue after work. If my husband is home early enough that is even better for me, because he does the barbecueing.

I can sympathize with both of you I need a plan b for when my husband said he was cooking but doesn't because he usually does the cooking he loves to cook I hate it but I'm gonna try your ideas of prepping and freezing then crock potting sounds like a winner. I had been doin a lot in the crock pot but here lately have been slacking. But thanks for sharing I'm gonna try that idea.

By the time I get home, the last thing I want to do is spend a ton of time in the kitchen. I've ben experimenting with crock pot freezer meals, where you spend a few hours on the weekend prepping enough meals to last a week, two weeks, however much you want to make in one shot. This week I prepped all of the ingredients and sauces for the next two weeks so that I don't have to worry about chopping onions or standing over the stove for a long time. I'm hoping it works out well.

I sometimes struggle with cooking dinner at night. somenights i have more energy and i am making something i really enjoy. When my hubby plans on cooking i generally have to have a plan B in case he changes his mind.

I think it is important to know why we don't like to cook dinner. Normally I love to cook. But when cooking for my family they are so picky sometimes it takes the joy out of it. When I am thinking positive I can look at it as a challenge. Outlook can really make a difference

Me too, I hate cooking dinner, specially when I get tired from work. Therefore, I cook a lot once a week and I just have to microwave at nights. Also, I don't have to cook 7 different dinners a week. A 4- servings soup and a 4-servings main dish is enough. Besides, this offers me more variety than the same TV dinners.

my hubby is a picky eater and likes to eat later then i do so making meals for both of us is not enjoyable, but i do use my slow cooker on weekends to batch cook so i have leftovers to take for lunch at work.
i am lucky because sometimes my DH does cook. I have a george foreman grill and i buy the frozen steamable veggie bags. I tend to stick with a few core meals and cook different veggies or a different starch. i also use different herbs and seasonings to avoid adding extra fat.

Don't forget to be awesome.

I really love the spark recipes part of this site. I use it on a daily basis. I find it inspirational to cook something new. I print the ones we really enjoy and put them into our rotation. I print a calendar and write on the calendar each day what I plan to make. Sometimes I end up changing things around, but this has really helped me the last 3 months especially when people's schedules get crazy some weeks.

I generally enjoy cooking, but if I have had a long day and come home exhausted, then cooking is not in my game plan. I usually have leftovers in the freezer as a standby for those nights. Also now that summer is here, we enjoy eating much lighter meals and lots of fruit.

You are so right about buying frozen prepared meals, aside from the cost of the food, there are also nutritional concerns such as sodium levels being super high. Now that summer is here I am all into salads with fresh veggies and fruits

I live alone and always ate frozen dinners. Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice, the healthy dinners. I hate to cook. In the summer who wants to heat up the kitchen? Who has the $$$ to buy toaster oven, crock pot and all that stuff. Not me. I eat breakfast, lunch, maybe a PB&J or cottage cheese, fruit and yogurt and a frozen dinner for dinner. I stay within all my ranges including sodium and consistently lose 1-2 lbs. a week. I think I am doing fine.

I love SparkPeople

I am new to Sparkpeople, and still finding my way around the site. I don't like cooking either, and was using all frozen dinners and prepared foods. Since joining Sparkpeople and this group a couple weeks ago, I have faithfully followed the meal plan suggested for me on the Sparkpeople Nutrition site.. It isn't really cooking, I guess, but there are little easy recipes, and directions for three meals plus two snacks. I hope this counts as healthy cooking. I am trying to get a lower reading on my fasting blood sugar in another 10-14 days.

I also do not like preparing meals , or cleaning up, but I do prepare something 3 x per week. I plan most of the week, but we eat light most evenings. Lunch is our main meal and Dh, isn't on this journey, but eats healthy when I cook. We eat out twice a week, grill on the weekend, have "fix your own" nights, and leftover nights as well. I do enjoy batch cooking now, and Dh is helping, and making suggestions. I keep lettuce and salad fixings, and fruit on hand and sometimes lean lunchmeat for sandwiches. We have a nice balance going where he gets his ramen regularly, and I get simple self serve too. We are both enjoying the frozen homemade soups, even though it's warm. They are quick to unthaw, and delicious.

I just finished this challenge, and look forward to trying new recipes together.

Dear Lord, set my sights on You and Your great attributes. Help me to live in Your presence, dependent on Your guidance each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I prepare dinner 5-6 nights a week for just my hubby and myself. I say prepare, not cook, because I don't enjoy cooking or planning dinners. I usually just fix a meat, a starch, and a vegetable. Trying to decide what to fix has me going to the store 2-3 times a week. I am going to start planning meals for the week and try new recipes. Any quick, easy recipes would be appreciated. emoticon

2014 will be the year of making myself the best me I can be
