For me home cooked meals means from scratch not processed or frozen foods. It may take more work to shuck corn or snap the green beans but the taste is miles apart from frozen. Because I have SLE Lupus I find my body does better with made from scratch meals. Although every now and then I make kraft mac n cheese...old habits die hard
I agree, the use of wholesome ingredients. Whether frozen vegetables or fresh to me is a home cooked meal. The use of processed foods such as Mac and cheese. Or chicken nuggets, although made at home, to me does not qualify as home cooked. :)

Well you all are an inspiration. Home cooked is anything that touches the stove at my house. I do enjoy cooking and baking but find it hard to find the time to always do it from scratch. We have come a long way over the years with our menu but I can't lie, it is a place that I am constantly working on.
I consider a home cooked meal to be any meal cooked primarily at home and not frozen or take out. However I try to have my home cooked meals made with locally sourced ingredients, and cooked from scratch as much as possible.
I tend to cook from scratch. The only stuff in my pantry that doesn't look like what it was when it was growing are ingredients like sugar, baking powder, and dried milk. So at my house it's either 100% take out or I ground that wheat myself. I love to cook.

I consider anything that isn't predominantly out of a box homecooked. If I'm boiling water for pasta or rice and cooking meat in any way to go along with it I consider it homecooked. Hamburger Helper ... not-so-much ;)
Unfortunately, most of my 'cooking' is NOT homecooked ... which is why I joined this challenge yesterday :)

I CAN and I WILL!
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
I also consider a home cooked meal to be one that I put together from raw ingredients and roast, grill, bake, stir fry, crock pot, make soup or hot dish out of. But, I do take shortcuts at times too, and if we grill meat and use Steam Fresh veggies and Uncle Ben's 90 second microwave rice, then I only prepared it at home, or finished it. Either way, we have a healthy meal, except for Corndog nights.
Dear Lord, set my sights on You and Your great attributes. Help me to live in Your presence, dependent on Your guidance each day. In Jesus name, Amen.
I consider home cooked to be a meal where I start with raw ingredients and cook them for a meal. I use frozen as raw especially during the winter. That would not include such things as frozen dinners which I do not consider home cooked as I have no control over what goes into them.

Lets face it, at some point you are going to use something that you bought at a store. Where do you draw the line between home cooked and packaged? There are times when I consider kraft mac and cheese and hot dogs a home cooked meal, I know that is bad.
