Very good goals.
I gave up caffeine other than what is in an occasional chocolate and in green tea about 10 years ago and have not really missed it.
You may also find that your body may not get to the full 8 hrs every day. Think about how you feel when you get up and throughout the day. It might be that for you 7 hours is enough.

After keeping a sleep journal my goals are:
1. No caffeine except in the mornings. I'm ready to end it completely
2. When I get home for the night I need to find a way to relax better so that I can get more sleep.
3. Try and get 8 hours a night if possible. During the week the most I got was 7
