I have really liked this. My brain thinks 10 minutes is a short enough time that I can' easily whine about how I don't have time to do it. And of course once I start to move, I generally keep going beyond 10 minutes. I've been applying this to other areas of my life, too -- like 'just spend 10 minutes seeing how much vacuuming you can get done'.

Today is my last day, too--and yet, it's not! I'm re-upping (is that a phrase?!) to keep myself on track. I'm enjoying being able to check off my goals each day and am being more regular with my exercise, averaging 6 out of 7 days for the last 4 weeks.

Thanks, Coach Nancy, for letting me know I can stay with it!

Doing this challenge is helping me exercise even though I'm not able to run for a month. It's awesome how many different things you can come up with that only take a few minutes!

I gave myself a new pedometer for completing week 1,2 & 3
I find myself walking longer challenging myself to rack up more steps each day. This challenge is what I needed to get me fired up!

Just completed my 4 weeks. I'm very glad that I joined this challenge! It helped me get back on track with exercise, and reminded me that exercise can be done at anytime and anywhere. I don't always need a big chunk of time to get it done in.

Well i feel i have come a long way with doing this 10 min challenge. Even though you think that 10 mins, easy, well it's not if you've never done anything before. After this 4 weeks i have found that my 10 mins have turned into 60 mins, i feel more energized, more motivated, more stronger, more happier, more healthier and much more organized in the way i perform my fitness overall.

Even though my 10 mins have turned into far much more, this has been a wonderful way to maintain consistency in my exercise because it's been only the 10 mins. The days i have felt bad i managed the 10, on the days i feel good i put as much time/energy as i can which results in much more than 10 mins.

I've decided to add abdominal workouts this week. I'm getting definition and curves, however, my lower abs are a bit flabby so targeting this for the week should help! Can't wait so see! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I shocked myself be realizing that I kept to my 10 minute routines even when I wasn't feeling well! I didn't even realize it until afterward. Just another thing to love about 10 minute workouts!

What an awesome challenge this has been. At first 10 minutes didn't seem like much, but each day it seemed like 10 minutes wasn't enough. I am now averaging about 60 minutes of cardio daily. Weighed in this AM and was very surprised!! I lost 2.2 pounds!
emoticon

It took me awhile to figure out my long-term goals. I didn't want to make my goals unattainable, but then I also didn't want them to be a challenge either. So here they are:

1. Log in my food on a daily basis. This will keep
on track and accounable to myself.
2. Gradually increase my cardio workouts. Ten minutes
a day is my absolute minumum!
3. To participate in the fun walk part of the Dixville
Notch Relay in September 2011-at the latest!

I actually weighed this morning, much to my great unhappiness. But I recorded it, did my exercise, have logged all my food (under my high limit for the day, woo-hoo!), and have 1 water left. One day at a time, this last week of Week 4. It's been good to challenge myself....

As I have gone through this challenge I have become much more accepting of 10 minutes as a goal for exercising and am learning to quell my all or nothing mentality on exercise. My goal is to continue, to even further ingrain this attitude.

I have to say I was really discouraged when I weighed in and measured this morning. I've gained 3 pounds during this challenge and no change in my waist or otherwise! I don't feel as 'creaky' as I did before I started doing more regular exercise but when I see that others are seeing changes with just 10 minutes a day, I want to see them too---especially after most days of 30 minutes!

But I'm not giving up....

I still need to work on consistency. I'm not an exerciser! Most of my exercise will come from walking, gardening, mowing, weeding, etc. during the summer. I like the 10 minute goal even though I know more is needed, but I don;t get as overwhelmed when I think 10 min vs 30 or 60!

Good for you! I think that making exercise a habit and a priority changes our mindset. I'll have to look for the Couch to 5K--my ankles and feet aren't geared for running and I'm not going to attempt it any more but walking a 5K would be doable!

Happy Saturday and a great 4th of July to everyone.

This challenge has been great! It sounds so easy to fit "just" 10 minutes of exercise into my day, and with that motivation I was able to exercise every single day since I joined this challenge the first week of June! I don't think I've ever exercised that many consecutive days before in my life.

I did not manage to meet one of my initial goals of increasing the number of days I get up early to walk before work, so I'm still working on that one. Of the four days I could get up early to walk, I usually manage to only get up twice. But, I also walk on my lunch break and then go swimming with my boys when I get home from work, so missing my morning walk isn't keeping me from exercising - I just want to get myself into the habit of getting up a little earlier than normal to exercise so I can transition that into indoor workouts when it starts getting too cold to be outside this winter.

I've found that I really enjoy swimming this year. I don't like the water, and have never really felt comfortable in a swimming suit, so swimming has never been my thing. But, now that I'm getting more comfortable with my body and feeling healthier I find I look forward to swimming. And, seeing how happy my boys are in the water makes any discomfort worth it for me. :)

As far as goals I have going foward:

-I'd like to try some of the Sparkpeople workout videos, and actually use the workout dvd I bought last spring. I'm focusing so much on outside exercise right now that I kind of forget I could be doing indoor things.

-I'd also like to some day run a 5K. I have asthma, so I tend to avoid running, but I think if I train slowly and properly I should be able to do it. I have my annual physical coming up soon so I'm going to see what my doctor thinks, and if he gives me the green light then I'm going to find a 5K next spring that sounds good, sign up, and start the Couch to 5K training program.

-And now that I'm in the habit of daily exercise, and I'm enjoying being active I signed up for the 28 Day Bootcamp Sparkpeople challenge!

I never realized how good (physically and emotionally) exercising could make me feel, and I love that this challenge helped me see that!

~Jennifer

I let yesterday's 'I have to get up and out of the house early' be my excuse for no real formal exercise so I have a lot to make up for today! Plus, we're having company for dinner. Lots of housework...and that counts, too.

Happy Saturday on Week 4.

The beginning of the month always makes me happy to have another chance for success. I decided to add 3 more reps to my strength training this month. I usually do 12 per exercise and I want to beef that up. I added other exercises today that I didn't even record. That's just a little extra icing on the cake!

I am starting on week 4 also. It has been great. I really enjoy working out each day although I like doing it more than 10 minutes. Hopefully I can continue and even lose weight.

Here we are week 4! What a change I've made!!! Not only do I look forways to add 10 minutes into my day, but I actually went to the gym at the hotel and got on the treadmill in order to do it!

Since I didn't log into SP while I was on vacay, you will have to trust me on this one, but it was great! I am so excited about the changes I am making in my life! I hope you are too!

This challenge has come and gone quickly.....I now do at least a 10 min video from sparks 6 days a week....I also do mine own videos I can't say that I love working out don't think I ever will but I do know how important it is to move....

My long term goals are to just do it....that's my motto...I don't think about it I get up every day and move even if I only do 10 mins...I plan to continue doing that I also walk 5 days a week on top of doing regular exercises....it has made a big difference with my program and really clears my head while working out....

Adding the 10 mins per day hasn't really changed my perspective on exercising Ive always hated to exercise and I kinda still do but like I said I now realize how important it is to do

If You're tired or starting over stop giving up

My energy levels are wavering. The motivation is definintely there, but it's been so hot out lately that being outside in 90+ degree weather is hard. I did it this past Wednesday and I almost passed out. I had to get in the house.

Have you smiled today?

Well, I am now into Week 4. I have noticed improvements in my energy levels and I have a little more stamina than I did in the first week of this challenge.

My Long Term Goal is to work up to 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week. Even if I have to do it in 10 or 15 minutes segments daily.

Since, June 4th I have lost 13.2 pounds. emoticon

Its hard to believe we are on week 4 already. I have really enjoyed adding 10 minutes of extra exercise into my day here and there. My favorite one is grabbing my dog and taking a quick little walk with him. He loves it and its so good for both of us.

In the future I plan on continuing with the 10 minute walks, using my WATP tapes, wii fit and my strength training.

My long term goal is to do my Zumba 5 days per week, for at least 20 minutes per session. Honestly, I know myself well enough to know that I won't commit to any other exercise, so I'm going to stick with what I already know works.

I've arranged my school schedule to allow me to do it first thing in the morning, which will help.

I've learned that even though I'm not going to the gym or anything, incorporating that sneaky little 10 minutes is making a difference. If I park farther away, it adds a little time here and there.

It's made such a difference, in fact, that in the last 4 weeks, I've lost over 10 pounds!

Where did the time go? Hard to believe that this is the last week!
I have enjoyed adding 10 extra minutes and changing up what I do each week and I plan to keep doing that.

This month has FLOWN by! I have made some positive changes of which I am proud of. Yes, I didn't keep with my 20 minutes every morning - especially this week. But I did find ways to incorporate that 10 min into my day. One day it was walking around my office with an empty file in my hand... one day it was going to my daughter's volleyball open gym and working with a new girl... today it will be a 10 minute furniture move! I am planning on rearranging my office and my furniture is HEAVY! Maybe if the weather cooperates, I will do a little evening weed/baby oak tree pulling!

I have just about reached my Long term goal. I only have a few more pounds to lose. I have been on a plateau for.... quite a while. These past three weeks have really gone fast for me and my clothes are getting loser.

I have really enjoyed doing my exercises with this challenge. I was suffering from burn out before. This challenge has rekindled my Spark emoticon for exercising.

I am so grateful for Spark People and the challenges they offer. Thank you Coach Nancy.

I can't believe this is the last week. I've accomplished the 10+ exercise. Now I have to meet other goals that are much harder for me if I want to lose weight. It's ongoing.

I appreciate the motivation that seems to be a result of this challenge! My ultimate goal is to have lost 35 lbs. and have a toned body by the end of November. This week I've begun adding an additional 10 minutes to my daily cardio. Thanks for the challenge - for the opportunity!

Welcome to Week Four of the "Official 10-Minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge"!

Can you all believe how quickly the past three weeks have just flown by? I hope you are enjoying the challenge of integrating just 10 minutes a day to your daily lives.

Building consistency is key to anything we want to change in our lives and this challenge is they way to do just that. While many of us do not have the liberty to carve out 60 minutes of an already jammed-packed day to workout, most of us can find 10 minutes to just that.

Have you set your long-term fitness goals?

Each year I sit down and write out my goals. I don't look at them as resolutions, but goals. I schedule and pay for all my races ahead of time. It is amazing how having put down the money on an event can be quite motivating to get me out running, even when life seems to get in the way, not to mention the challenges of weather and time.

So what are some of your long-term fitness goals?

What are your plans to help you meet those goals?

How has integrating 10 minutes of fitness into your day help change your perspective on exercise.

Make it a GREAT week! Enjoy the challenge!

HAPPY SPARKING!
Nancy
