Great job Granny! I hiked 5 miles with my husband today. Thankfully I didn't get sick after my hike, like I did yesterday.

I have been consistent with getting in 45-120 minutes 6 days a week. A mix of rowing machine, treadmill and spin class. Wednesday is my off day but I credit myself with 10 minutes because I spend the day with my 4 year old grandson. I have also added outside walks with squats and walking lunges.

Today I did nothing but sleep on the couch. I have been sick all day. Hope I am feeling better tomorrow. Even canceled my therapy this morning.

Still snowing here.

Will make up my 10 min tomorrow.

Wk 3 Day 7 for me

I wasn't too active on the wknd - I worked the wknd and between trying to squeeze in family time and sleep then work, I didn't exercise at all. This will probably be my norm for my working wknds -

Today I have started well, and plan on finishing well too. I have 1/2 of my water drank, and have my fruits in, and working on some of my veggies as I type. Workout in as well and then my plan is to get some sleep before going to work again tonight. My last night of the "Wknd" work schedule. Then off tomorrow night and then back in on Wed. night and can't wait for this wknd - l'm OFF.

So you all have a good day and I will be posting on the 4th wk starting tomorroow.

emoticon everyone

Izzydinlv,
Lately, I'm doing better with walking (exercise) than with eating, too. I am finding that now that I'm doing well with walking, it seems to be a little easier to improve on some of my bad eating habits as well. I think that tracking my food, which has helped in the past but I found myself really resisting this time around, has helped, too. I started tracking with no real thought of cutting down, but just for information. A week or so after I started, I found myself wanting to make better choices. So if you're not already doing that, you might give it a try.

Outdoorgirl,
Nice job for a day of rest!

I managed a 40 minute walk this morning.

Week 3 days 5 & 6. Yesterday did 15 minute brisk walk, today nothing - a big 7am-7pm day at work.

Nancy, I hope you find a Y to do your core & other strength training workouts. Your house setting up sounds big though. Ida, keep at it girl! Sara, I hope your mood picks up. Emotions are like the weather, they come & go, but moods can hang around a bit - hopefully not too long.

woke up feeling down - not sure why!

weigh in was not what I hoped -

making some changes to my eating (calories #) and going to up # of reps in my strength training!

Going to go thru my house and get rid of or at least hide from my sight the foods that I'm not to eat. (with others in the house, I can't just throw out)

Hope you are all having a good day, weather here is cold - ice storm thru the night, so things are looking like winter and it should be looking like spring!! feel sorry for the flowers that were showing there heads last week thinking the nice weather was finally here. What a cruel trick!!!

check in later!

Thanks, Vivian & Sara; I appreciate the support and encouragement. (That's why I'm on Spark!) Vivian - I hope you're feeling better.

Good job, Outdoorgirl!

Another 30 minute walk this morning. I need to find some time to do some core work soon - my back has been really sore the last few days. We're still cleaning and putting finishing touches (and more) to our "new" home here in AZ so we're busy, then before you know it, it's 10:00 PM and I barely have time to check in here! But I have enjoyed walking every morning! I'm looking forward to the day I feel I can take the time to find the nearest YMCA - I really need a good workout!

Vivian - I guess that is one way to lose lbs - bring it all back up or let it run out - which ever end was affected!! Hope you are feeling better soon

As to my sense of Humour - I married him!!!!! My Dh will not let me go a day without a good laugh - he is always either saying something funny or playing some kind of trick - so I guess after 31yrs some of it has rubbed off on me - he is hardly ever serious but don't get me wrong, he has the kindest and most geneourous heart and is there for you no matter what. His serious side comes out when he sees children being hurt or sick !! That will bring tears to his eyes.

Hope you all have a good day - heading to bed for some much needed sleep. Off tonight, but still have to get a few hours of sleep in to make it thru the day.

Take care everyone and get up and get movin' !!

Nancy, life has the knack of throwing us curved balls & altering our best-laid plans. Good luck with this version of a life-long change. Sara, I also like your sense of humor & that you're sticking to your exercise streak.

I've done no exercise today as I was up a few times in the night with the violent effects of food poisoning, so feel very light-headed & tired. Will hopefully be back into our streak tomorrow.

Sara, you do seem to have a positive attitude and a good sense of humor. I like the idea of counting hiccups as exercise!

And Vivian, this is my 3rd attempt at a life-long change. I really thought my previous attempt would last. It did, for 2 years. Then my mom died unexpectedly and I just couldn't stop eating! For nearly a year, trying to fill the hole. By then, the bad habits had taken over again. So here I am again, 3+years later...

Anyway, today's been good so far. Did a 30 minute walk this morning. (and no late night bingeing last night!)

had fish for lunch, and now I have the hiccups - seems fish does that to me - oh well, maybe the hiccupping can be counted as exercise - emoticon

10 minutes vigorous rowing + 10 minutes strength training today. Fitbit doesn't count rowing & strength training because they're not steps. it can calculate the calories though emoticon

Wk 3 Day 1 for me - I feel good about how things are going. Making time for my exercise (home version) and tracking my food daily. Staying within my calories, drinking my 8+ water, and I feel I have more energy than when I joined SP at the end of Feb.

Now if I could only get rid of these headaches, I would be so much happier.

How is everyone doing?? I bought a 15 min. workouts book yesterday put out by "Oxygen" magazine and am going to start implementing them into my daily routine. So excited about this -

No Excuses !! No longer part of my vocabulary when it comes to getting me healthier!

Have a great day -

Week 3 day 2, 51 minute walk, 4.2km, 4.9km/h, 151 cals. Feeling a bit like this cold I've had isn't going anywhere fast. It's a much milder version of my husband's, who's had his for over 5 weeks - it's really hanging on.

Welcome on board KSMACKERS, AMANDACOETZER, JINNYHURLEY, FALLENSHORT. Good to hear there's so many of you on this challenge. Keep trecking Fallenshort. Have you thought of tracking your food? It may help. Jinny, I got tired just reading everything you're doing emoticon

I am 54---I've been on an exercise streak now going onto 4 weeks---I'm very proud of myself for that. I feel pretty good physically even though I started at 10 minutes and have worked my way up to 15 minutes daily. Now I'm working towards 20 minutes! (Or 16, depending on how you look at it lol) The only thing I can't seem to control is eating emoticon

I am 52 and about 30 pounds overweight. I have no extra time to exercise. I try to eat right but that doesn't always work. Menapause makes me eat carbs!!! I can pass up the sweets but give me my carbs. I joined a gym with my boyfriend but we don't seem to find the time to go. We are moving his stuff into my house, taking care of my nephew (22) and 5 big dogs, a house and big yard. I have 2 jobs and volunteer for one group. Who has time to exercise!!! Although the moving really worked out my legs (bending lifting, turning).
