One of our assignments was to Try a SparkPeople WorkOut video. I chose the 11-Minute Chair Cardio Workout video because I have had problems with my knee this month.
This work out with Coach Nicole was a good one. I increased my intensity level without hurting myself. She offers alternatives for the movements throughout the video.
I was slightly sweating and breathing hard, but I could still speak. "Still able to speak" is one of my barometers for exertion.
I do need to work on my coordination. Getting my hands and feet moving at the same time in different directions was a laugh. The good news is that it did not matter that I was doing my left arm when she was doing her right one. The important part was that I was moving and my heart muscle and lungs were exercising.
The only other problem I had was when lifting the feet quickly from side to side I had a tendency to lean back. I had to keep reminding myself to sit up straight. Hmmm? Could it be my big belly got in the way when I lifted my knees and forced me to lean back? I will keep exercising and eventually that belly that gets in my way will be gone.
