Start of week 3. I will do 25 min per day on treadmill, alternating between 3 & 3.5 MPH, changing speeds when I feel too challenged. I will do exercises during the breaks while watching TV.

Did my best with the week 3 challenge. Never could get my computer to show a full video right, but I DID print out a workout program! I've done pretty well squeezing in extra activity through out the day. I started JOGGING! :)

Starting out each day with a good dog walk session. (They enjoy the cold mornings...at least someone does....)

Step 1: Stop and think. Step 2: Take a deep breath. Step 3: Make a good choice.

I squeezed in some dancing around during my work day. And I pace while I'm on the phone (always have!). I even managed to do a basic strength workout (squats, modified pushups, back extensions, and crunces with a twist). However, I'm still not having success with working out WITH a video - they don't play very well and I have no sound on my computer. I'm going to see if I can print out the workouts for a couple of videos.

I have been loving this challenge because it has forced me to mix up my routine and be creative. This week I have gone to youTube for some new video workouts. I found a denise austin metabolism booster, that I would surely do again, a Jillian Michaels cool down, and a great hip opener sequence.

I have keep up the long dog walks (I have three dogs) and do lunges and other static exercises when the dogs are not active. Even today in the brisk, cold we when out for 20 mins.

I bought new hiking boots for my southwestern vacation in a month. I love to hike in the mountains. These boots are mid weight, and can be used for trail running, which I plan to try. So to break them in, and see if I like them, I used them on the treadmill today, 3 miles. They are comfy, yet sturdy. I think I will keep them.

Caio!

The part of week 3's challenge where we do a video is going to be tough because the videos don't always work on my comp. Is there a way to print out the workouts from the video?

The only way for me to make sure I complete my fitness daily is to do first thing after I feed the cat! Otherwise I come up with every excuse in the book not to do it. I like Coach Nicole's DVDs and the Spark fitness videos as well as using my stationary recumbent bike.

Definitely morning workout is what has been working for me. I can't believe the difference I've been experiencing since I switch from evening workouts to morning workouts.

If I have to be honest(which I do!) the hardets part was to stop making excuses! I am the master of excuses! One day I hurt my toe, the other I have a "sore" throat and so on!
Once I stopped listening to the excuses(I still make them) and just got on with it, it wasnøt that bad at all.
My schedule doesn't allow me a lot of time to exercise, but inatead of letting that stopping me I now look for opportunities to exercise like taking the stairs, getting of the bus a stop or two too early.
I also quite enjoy my morningdance to "flying" by Nice Little Penguins and "99 luftballons" by Nena :)

Furthermore I compete with myself and try out new types of exercise before the old gets boring. Right now I am exercising 15 minutes/day + all the extra stuff like getting of the bus early and taking the stairs. And I like it! :)

For me, it seems that walking is the easiest way for me to get minimum 10 minutes per day. Been thinking about finding some group classes locally, though. In the meantime, off to the gym after work today; probably elliptical trainer and some strength training.

Little by little, step by step, day by day.

Finally realizing that the best way to ensure getting my 10 mins(and plus sometimes) in is if I get up earlier and start the day with yoga. After that I have an urge to do something more, like a 30 minute walk. I don't have to rush, I don't feel the pressure of finding time at the end of the day when there's so much pulling on me, to carve out even 10 minutes for exercise. I feel so glad when I remember that I've already done it and have crossed it off my to do list. Early morning workout works!

Yesterday i finally went downstairs and did my stretches and exercises, more than 10 minutes. After experiencing that delayed onset pain after I did 3 Spark videos i am taking it slower altho they were short videos, fun and I didn't feel stressed. Hopefully I will get Brandy's collar sized--she can't sit still-- and tomorrow we can start walking again. It is now cold, windy, damp, rain/snow--ugh--I have to push myself out the door.
Have a good day and 15 minutes is better than none at all. I am happy with 10 just so i moved.

For some reason, I was only able to get 15 minutes in today. We had a late night for us. That may be part of the problem. At least it was more than 10. emoticon

I have not had a great start with this but did my exercises and stretches yesterday. I hope to start exercising downstairs today. Hubby has had health issues so i haven't used my exercise area downstairs for awhile. Now dust it off and do it!! I am thinking of continuing this streak longer, i need a goal to keep me going.

Growing up in small town in Michigan, there were ice rinks in everyone's backyard and a community rink. We got so much fresh air and didn't mind being out in below zero weather cuz we were sweating from skating so much. emoticon Great fun!!!! Thanks for the memories.

Mima, once I get this weight down I most definitely am! Right now if I were to fall, I know it would be a bad one. How old is your daughter now? How precious you two share such nice bond.

Memories are as valuable as medals and I think it is great that you remember everything so well. The 'Bunny Hop' is also the first jump my daughter learned at ice skating lessons. It is a cute one!

I hope you can find a way to get back on those skates and to get some great exercise, and lots of fun.

You know, when I was younger, we used to have a roller rink in our small town. I was in my early teens and they called me a Rink rat. I went to lessons, competed in waltz and formations. I really wanted to get into free style dance but those lessons were more expensive. But I listened while other kids were being trained and I followed suit. I could spin in one spot without traveling and it wore a groove in one of my wheels. It was so cute because the first jump I learned was the bunny hop. hahahaha Those were the days.

I went through a particularly deep, dark depression and in my despair and anguish threw away all the medals and patches I had won. I look back now and wish I had saved them but I didn't know I would get this far in life. But I still have the memories and I take my grandson skating every once in while.

That's too bad, Reggie, but maybe you could try inline-roller-skating? Or wait for winter to bring snow and ice, depending on where you live. emoticon

Week 3, Day 1.

I won't have time to go ice skating today so I will have to work with some strength training videos or maybe the Wii.

Shorter days are sometimes a challenge when we have to change our routines, but thanks to SP they're constanting working on new , fun and challenging workouts that don't involve the gym or even any special equipment. I'm finding more and more fun challenges in the videos. I do keep the drapes and blinds open more in the winter, not only to let the sun in , but to connect with the outside whenever I can.

I got up about 6 this morning and I could hear the gentle wind blowing through the trees in our backyard. The doors and windows are open letting the cool air flow through our house. Ahhhhh if it weren't so dark, I would take a walk. But I'll wait a little until the sun comes up. Hope everyone is having a Sparkamundo Sunday.

True, walking in either snow, rain, cold wind is no fun!! Coach Nicole has a ton of neat videos! Some are quick, some are longer. Some are easy, some are hard. You'll have fun!

I look forward to my walks and don't get bored with them. However, I do not like going out in cold weather, so I will be challenged to get my exercise in as the weather turns cold. At that time I look forward to trying out some Spark People exercise videos.

This far, walking videos have kept my interest. I do the one, two, and three mile videos, alternating between them based on time and energy level. But they do keep me interested, and I have walked every day for two weeks (other than scheduled day off on Sundays). Hubby and I are talking about going for leisurely walks Sunday afternoons, too, for a change of pace and scenery.

I enjoy my evening walks with my dogs and my husband, even in bad weather, and they have to walk everyday, so getting at least 10 minutes a day isn't an issue anymore! I try to challenge myself to get at least two or three 30 minute walks in each week. It's been working on the scale, and it's been helping with my mobility.

Week 3 was a challenge. Missed 2 days of workouts; days were just too long and I didn't wake up on time. Aside from that, I think the week went okay. I continue to track in my calorie king tracker (which SP had a little book ... hint hint), then sometimes transfer the info the sp to give me the nutritional info. Sat, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were 30 min workout. Yesterday finally got my glow getter award.

I have discovered that I really enjoy biking, and have pretty much stopped using the car, but for weekly grocery shopping.
I bike every day, and it adds up to 30-120 minutes, depending on how many activities the kids have that day!

I have been doing this challenge but have not posted yet.

This week' s progress:

1. Try a SparkPeople workout video.
I try to do one of Nichole's 10 minute videos every day - have found some that i really like.

2. Find something fun to do!
Have a friend who is moving and have been helping her pack. So fun to be around her - she has such a delightful, positive attitude.

3. Share your progress.
So here i am - sharing my week. And looking forward to Week 4.

Keeping up with this challenge has really helped me. It's easy to put off 30 minutes or hour long workouts, but there's really no excuse when you're just aiming for 10 minutes. This mind shift has actually helped me reach larger exercise goals as well. I just do 5 or 10 minute intervals through out the day and find it's a lot easier sneaking in exercise this way.

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. - Thomas Jefferson

I've varied my walking routine this week by choosing different routes and by having my husband walk with me one day. We'll be doing that a lot more often since he's retiring in a few weeks. I also did one of Coach Nicole's strength training videos and that was a nice change. I feel like I'm finally getting into a habit of doing at least a little bit of exercise every day, and when I focus on that, it also helps to be a reminder to eat right. This challenge is helping me to change my mindset to a healthier, more positive one.

Almost got week 3 done and am keeping with the program. I will continue to do my 10 min. a day and then some. 10 minutes now just don't seem enough so have increased it. Walk 1 mile (20 min) kitchen exercises (10 min) Phy. Ther. strengthening (10 min) and all the usual house and outside jobs.

.
I will stay in the saddle and sprint the horse.
I will keep a positive attitude.

Today ends my week three here and during this time I signed up for and began training for a 5K run.
I completed week one of that and start week 2 on Tuesday. I am able to walk 3 minutes then run for 2 minutes now when I am out training and can do this for 30 minutes. Maybe I can do it for longer however I am following the training program to the letter.

Now onto my last week of this program and I am so happy that I have found more activities to keep me going on my healthy journey.
I have BLOGGED every day about my fitness, goals or successes

I have also incorporated doing Spark People videos at times for a good workout when I am indoors.

Hi there everyone. I am just starting week 3 today and will be using some of the fitness videos that Spark People offer as well as my usual power walking and cycling.
Hoping to incorporate some new strength training moves into my daily routine.

Everything seems to be falling into place and I'm feeling pumped to do more each day.. emoticon

I have finished week 3 and have made a few discoveries:

I can do 10+ minutes a day

I actually look forward to the weekend and my days off because I really like my early morning emoticon I didn't think I'd ever say that!

I also enjoy riding my stationary bike. I usually do that in the evening while watching TV

I love this challenge!

During week 4, I will add resistance or strength training.
