This week I changed my nutrition and fitness goals. I have walked and jogged almost 15 miles this week. By the end of the day I will have made a little more progress. emoticon

I have walked and jogged over 10 miles in the past 2 days. Love the Spark Activity tracker. It beats having to count and log everything myself! :)

My Spark Activity Tracker arrived a couple days ago. I love it! Hubby and I have walked antique malls for two days in a row and those steps really add up. :)

this week I intended to do five different forms of exercise- instead I simply took advantage of opportunity .... walked trails instead of driving past a park, heavy house keeping, canned beans as dumb bells... walked a neighborhood instead of just the driveway to mailbox.
today I finished week 3 with yoga - most days I do more than ten minutes because there's no pressure to do more than ten minutes.

It's day 19 now and I'm coming to the end of week 3. Getting in my 10 minutes has started to become an easier part of my daily routine.

I'm 5'8" and determined to make a change now. Ten minutes of fitness daily. Too many times I've fallen off the wagon, time to make long lasting positive habits stick. Can I do it?!

I've finished week 3 of this challenge, and it's going great. The first week required deliberate reminders to exercise for at least 10 minutes, the 2nd week my activity times extended to 30-40 minutes most days, and now I'm just doing it. Yesterday was a great walk on the beach, today lots of yard work. I love the increase in steps on my Fitbit.

Thanks Spark People.

I did the workout from Spark People, a Total Body Workout in 20 minutes. It was a bit too intense for me (I found afterwards). I had a really sore bottom. My leg muscles were sore too. But I did the whole thing for the most part (I can't do push ups).

Beginning week 3 - and have been working on consistency - 10 minutes of exercise each day and drinking more water.
This week want to work on planning menu for the week - and doing the grocery shopping to make it work.

Week 3 goals are:

1. Workout at least 30 minutes daily
2. Plan meals and exercise
3. Journaling my thoughts/feelings/daily reflections

Unfortunately, I had a busy week so I did not post a lot, but did complete my daily videos and some other exercises here and there - I drank my water, but some of my meals were not planned which threw a curve ball to my calorie intake - Week 4 will be much better just wait and see!

I didn't even realize the week three had come and gone. I had a few rough patches (I got very sick and had a fever with tylenol. I was sleeping all but a few hours of the day and decided to let my body recover).
Now that I am better I got back to working out again, and have been trying to go above the 10 minute minimum. Today I did 30 minutes of a dance DVD that I was actually looking forward to. I wanted to work out! That was an amazing success for me. I think this is becoming a good habit rather than a chore.

This week has been up and down. The pass few days I have been feeling bad. Sore throat, sniffles, and congestion. I really didn't feel like working out but I did 10 minutes one day and today I pushed myself to do 27 minutes. I feel bad physically, but mentally I feel like I am winning. I keep telling myself to be patient and I will get to my goal, but today I'm so proud of me. I can't even tell you when, and if, I have ever worked out everyday for the past 21 days. I pray I can keep it up!

Hope everyone else had a good week!!!!

Making-Progress, You are so right! When I am in the garden, time flies and I tend to overdo it. When I walk on the treadmill, the 20 minutes seem forever, even if I am reading or listening to music. Can't wait for gardening weather! That is why I usually lose weight in the summer and gain in the winter. I am determined to stick with the indoor exercise this year and be in good shape when I get back in the garden.

Wise choices each day will get me where I want to be.

I walked on the treadmill 6 of the days and on the other day I pushed my grandson for 25 minutes in his stroller. He loved it and so did I. I also did about 15 minutes of simple yoga one day. I plan to add that to my workouts at least 3 days next week. I do some stretches when I get up in the morning, but I don't track those as it is just a few minutes.

Wise choices each day will get me where I want to be.

Did The 11-Minute Miracle Workout & Simple 6-Minute Cardio Workout back to back. After the first I felt energized to do another.

I knew I was going out to a regular spot outside that only has a walking trail. This can be monotonous so I went online and found:

Outdoor Workout: 8-8-8 Circuit
http://www.bodyresults.com/articles/outd
oor-workout.asp

It was one hour of me working my body and doing 25 different exercises including warm up. It was fun and varied. :) I kept track of each so I can pick and choose which ones I want to improve or do in a 10m quick session. :)

Time flies when I am outside. I plan to spend 10 min. in the garden, or going on a short walk, and 20-30-+ min. later I am still out there. 10 min. of marching in front of the TV feels like an eternity, but 10 minutes down the road is too short emoticon

finishing up week 3. For my fun activity - I love to dance (ANY kind of dancing) - but generally do not get a chance to do so - in part because I swear I have 2 left feet and neither is coordinated with the other!

I also have a grandson- a new baby - and now have been dancing (actually waltzing, fox trot, rhumba, even mambo and cha cha cha) with him (babies are notorious for not being picky! Fortunately!) Evan loves it! and looks forward to his dancy granny!

Day 1 of week 3. I've been riding my stationary bike at least 15 every day since 31 October. I plan to hang in there with it. I sure do feel better and sleeping much better at night.

I'd like to stay with Week 3 a bit longer. With the holidays, I was either busy or lazy/tired and haven't gotten much done. I want to do more exploring and find fun stuff to do and, uh, re-start my streak...

Day 6 week 3 completed treadmill for today. My back is giving me much trouble and it difficult to move without pain, but I am determined to get this award at the end of week 4.

End of week 3. I walked 25 min per day on treadmill for 3 days, but was busy and walked only 10 min on the other 2 days. Without this challenge, I probably would have done nothing & quit exercising altogether, so this challenge is helpful to me. I watched an exercise video. Still don't remember to exercise during TV breaks. Will put a post-it on my computer.

Start of week 3. I will do 25 min per day on treadmill, alternating between 3 & 3.5 MPH, changing speeds when I feel too challenged. I will do exercises during the breaks while watching TV.

Did my best with the week 3 challenge. Never could get my computer to show a full video right, but I DID print out a workout program! I've done pretty well squeezing in extra activity through out the day. I started JOGGING! :)

Starting out each day with a good dog walk session. (They enjoy the cold mornings...at least someone does....)

I squeezed in some dancing around during my work day. And I pace while I'm on the phone (always have!). I even managed to do a basic strength workout (squats, modified pushups, back extensions, and crunces with a twist). However, I'm still not having success with working out WITH a video - they don't play very well and I have no sound on my computer. I'm going to see if I can print out the workouts for a couple of videos.

I have been loving this challenge because it has forced me to mix up my routine and be creative. This week I have gone to youTube for some new video workouts. I found a denise austin metabolism booster, that I would surely do again, a Jillian Michaels cool down, and a great hip opener sequence.

I have keep up the long dog walks (I have three dogs) and do lunges and other static exercises when the dogs are not active. Even today in the brisk, cold we when out for 20 mins.

I bought new hiking boots for my southwestern vacation in a month. I love to hike in the mountains. These boots are mid weight, and can be used for trail running, which I plan to try. So to break them in, and see if I like them, I used them on the treadmill today, 3 miles. They are comfy, yet sturdy. I think I will keep them.

The part of week 3's challenge where we do a video is going to be tough because the videos don't always work on my comp. Is there a way to print out the workouts from the video?

The only way for me to make sure I complete my fitness daily is to do first thing after I feed the cat! Otherwise I come up with every excuse in the book not to do it. I like Coach Nicole's DVDs and the Spark fitness videos as well as using my stationary recumbent bike.

If I have to be honest(which I do!) the hardets part was to stop making excuses! I am the master of excuses! One day I hurt my toe, the other I have a "sore" throat and so on!
Once I stopped listening to the excuses(I still make them) and just got on with it, it wasnt that bad at all.
My schedule doesn't allow me a lot of time to exercise, but inatead of letting that stopping me I now look for opportunities to exercise like taking the stairs, getting of the bus a stop or two too early.
I also quite enjoy my morningdance to "flying" by Nice Little Penguins and "99 luftballons" by Nena :)

Furthermore I compete with myself and try out new types of exercise before the old gets boring. Right now I am exercising 15 minutes/day + all the extra stuff like getting of the bus early and taking the stairs. And I like it! :)

For me, it seems that walking is the easiest way for me to get minimum 10 minutes per day. Been thinking about finding some group classes locally, though. In the meantime, off to the gym after work today; probably elliptical trainer and some strength training.

Little by little, step by step, day by day.

Finally realizing that the best way to ensure getting my 10 mins(and plus sometimes) in is if I get up earlier and start the day with yoga. After that I have an urge to do something more, like a 30 minute walk. I don't have to rush, I don't feel the pressure of finding time at the end of the day when there's so much pulling on me, to carve out even 10 minutes for exercise. I feel so glad when I remember that I've already done it and have crossed it off my to do list. Early morning workout works!

Yesterday i finally went downstairs and did my stretches and exercises, more than 10 minutes. After experiencing that delayed onset pain after I did 3 Spark videos i am taking it slower altho they were short videos, fun and I didn't feel stressed. Hopefully I will get Brandy's collar sized--she can't sit still-- and tomorrow we can start walking again. It is now cold, windy, damp, rain/snow--ugh--I have to push myself out the door.
Have a good day and 15 minutes is better than none at all. I am happy with 10 just so i moved.

For some reason, I was only able to get 15 minutes in today. We had a late night for us. That may be part of the problem. At least it was more than 10. emoticon

I have not had a great start with this but did my exercises and stretches yesterday. I hope to start exercising downstairs today. Hubby has had health issues so i haven't used my exercise area downstairs for awhile. Now dust it off and do it!! I am thinking of continuing this streak longer, i need a goal to keep me going.
