I have had back problems in the past as well. One thing that I have found helpful is Stott Pilates for the back. They're very easy but do strengthen your back muscles as well as your belly muscles and does help the back pain.
They come in either DVDs or if you have iTunes, you can get them as a download for about two dollars.

That's how it work when you think it's ok and go and do something the pain comes right back. Be care because a week ago I fell. My knee slipped right from under me. I thought it was ok abd I went walking and I paid for it.

I appreciate all the concern and kind words. I did walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I took it easy and walked slower than usual, but at least I got me exercise in. Some exercise is better than none. I do some stretching and it doesn't seem to help or hurt, so I do it. Just about the time I think I'm over it, I seem to make a funny move again and am back at square one. I'll be extra careful and hope this resolves quickly. Too much nice weather to let go to waste.

BRATBASSET - - So sorry to hear about your back.. I just went through something similar to that but am doing better now myself. Hope your back gets better real soon. Just do no more than what you can do without pain.

I've been doing really well with exercising at least 10 minutes a day. Usually I do more. But, today I managed to pull a muscle in my back. I seem to do that periodically, maybe once a year or so. You know, you move a little funny and wham, you've pulled something. It's not too bad and I can still walk without any pain, but it is going to put a damper on my dumbbell work for a little while. At least I can still do the treadmill, just a little slower than I would normally do. Sure hope this clears up fast so I can get back to my routine. Advil and heat seem to help the most. Have a whirlpool tub which is nice and would probably help, the only problem is with my sore back right now, it's a bear to try and get out of.
