Week 2 was a success for me. I was able to take a day off today, due to the Fitness Tracker telling me I was doing too much with too few calories. How cool is that? Yesterday I dug out from a snow storm.

With snow on the ground it will be more challenging to go for really good walks, so it is time to look inside the house for things to do when there isn't snow to be moved.

The lesson I ingrained in myself this week was incorporating fitness into my daily routine and finding ways to motivate and challenge myself without making huge "go to the gym and workout like a maniac" commitments. I seriously don't have room in my life for that right now. No excuses, that's just the way it is.

The handicapped dog is bummed -- no more long walks for a while. She can't manage in the snow and ice.

Ready for week three!!!

Simplypatti, love how your whole family is doing some fun activities for Thanksgiving. I really dread the holidays because hubby has the tradition of eating and sitting around. When he was younger his family used to toss a football around for a while and sometimes I could get some of them interested in a walk. You will have so much fun this holiday! I am very grateful we are going to have warm weather and I am going to go for a walk at our friends house. I refuse to sit aound for a whole day eating and eating. I want to feel good on Friday.

Week one went much better than week 2 for me. I lost focus and allowed excuses to sideline me from making exercise a priority. I talked with my kids and we are setting goals for this week for walking the dogs and I am not preparing a massive Thanksgiving feast at my house this year. We are going out to dinner. I will have a set amount of food and no leftovers in the house to mess me up. We are going to the zoo before and the aquarium the next day so lots of walking there as well.

I'm getting near the end of my week and am sore from my arm workout yesterday. I wanted to get some housework done anyway today so I danced while I did it. (Not a first for me but I wanted to share!)

Doing pretty well so far despite the challenges--week 1 included 5 straight days of business travel and week 2 included 3 days of not feeling up to par because of some stomach bug. But I've been getting in at least 10 minutes daily, usually more. I have a wireless headset at work and no really near neighbors to disturb so I'm pacing in the aisle when on conference calls. Yesterday I did the 15 minute desk workout and started the tip of doing an extra squat every time I get up or sit down (that's going to take some time to remember).

I have the weekend to go before I officially finish week 2. Will be heading to gym shortly for strength training and tomorrow morning will do a 60 minute spin class. With all the walking I do, I'm thinking of getting a FitBit.

I have been adding wall squats when I have to use the restroom at work (which is quite often for me). So I do 10-15 minutes strength and 90 minutes cardio almost every day.

Week 2 went well.- 4 days of walking outside and 3 gym visits. Started pacing with wireless headset when on conf calls and getting up every hour or so for a couple of minutes of activity. Love the 2-4-8 concept; it's catchy and a good reminder.

Bonniebelle, I love the 2-4-8 Challenge. That's something that would work well for me. I can even do that while I'm at work. Get up - move! There are no 'don't move' police here whee I work. Great idea.

I'm finding that the more I move, the better I feel. No great revelation actually. It's something I've 'known' but haven't practiced in so long. Now I'm getting the 'Spark' and want to keep moving.

On one of my other teams we have a challenge called 2-4-8 where we get up and exercise for at least 2 minutes several times spread throughout the day. Some days I do better than others about remembering to do this. I usually have to resort to setting my phone alarm to remind me to get up and get active. I like how it is making me more mindful to find ways to get up and get moving! Have walked, run, climbed stairs, done ST, and done some dancing. I'm trying to make it a point to walk around when talking on the phone, march in place while washing my hands, brushing my teeth, or doing dishes, and get up and do some form of movement during commercial breaks.

I'm also doing the 5K training program, so most of the week I'm hitting at least 30 minutes of exercise each day, sometimes more.

I found it easier to 'discover' 10 minutes more than once a day during my work day. Most days I was able to get in at least 2 workouts, sometimes 3. I started noticing that I was spending time at work just 'using' time instead of 'doing' time. If I didn't need to stop and chat with my co-workers, I didn't. If I didn't need to just wander around to get away from my desk, I didn't. I did my 10 minutes during those times. It worked/works! Now I have NO trouble finding time at work to stretch, do back exercises, leg exercises, etc. etc.

This week, I tried to change little things - doing a load of laundry every day, standing the entire time I am cooking dinner instead of sitting down while things are simmering, and chasing after my kids more. :-)

Sometimes, my life is like this:

But sometimes they don't make sense

I have been trying out new work out videos...the Bollywood Dance, Qi Gong. Today I am going to try pilates. I am working on finding exercise that is fun and that I will stick with! Still doing 10 minutes a day of something every day, some days even a wee bit more. :)

My husband started going to the gym with me a couple days a week and that helps my motivation level to go there. I also plan to try an online pilates session.

Your ideas sound wonderful and it's exciting to hear about the active vacations. My husband and I try to remain very active due to our proffessions but the idea of an active vacation is something completely different. Perhaps something we will have to try and look into as well.

Week 2 was slightly harder for me due to recent events, but I still found ways to get my 10 minutes of exercise in (some days even more). Along with that I did some little things that made me feel better.

When parking in the parking garage we parked near the top. Instead of taking the elevator we took the stairs both up and down.

I got a pedometer to see how many steps I take in a day.

We're also currently planning out an active vacation for next year. I'll have to keep my fitness up so I can actually walk around and see/do everything I want to!
