Yoga has been a great way to start exercising again because it's so relaxing. I'm into day 3 of the second week of exercising at least 10 minutes per day.

I am trying to do intentional exercising, but I get more satisfaction getting my exercise minutes in by doing something that needs to be done. Today I am organizing a room that we use for our eBay sales. I have to carry boxes and other activities that burn calories and build muscle.

I used to feel very self conscious when I did a home work out. I have come to realize that if I continue like that, aside from going for a walk, I'll never do anything else. So now, I just say to my self if the kids come home, especially with friends...."who cares, don't see them exercising". I just can't let what people think or say stop me from reaching my goal any more.

Anything is possible--except skiing through a revolving door.

The road to success is dotted with many tempting parking places.

Your body keeps an accurate journal regardless of what you write down...

No don't sell yourself short. Its your house so if you felt uncomfortable with someone else in the house then just take it one day at a time. Feel comfortable with what you did the other four days.

I agree your neighbor was very Rudi to you. You should tell your neighbor how you felt.

I don't think you should be self-conscious. Your neighbor was rude. Every little bit you do helps!

I am a single mom with a 18 year old son. He came home early due to the rain and I was self conscious also to work out in front of him so I did think it is silly. Back in April I was doing a work out video when my neighbor came and wanted something. She started laughing at me so I am a bit more self conscious then I should be. Maybe that is why I have a hard time!

I dusted off my walking dvds last week. Ive done 4 miles this week . I also started keeping dumbbells at my desk (i work from home) so between calls I can get a little exercise. I started this about a month ago and am starting to see some difference in my arms :)

I did 15 minutes on my mini elliptical machine when the baby naps. She naps twice a day so I was able to get in 30 minutes total for the day. I started with only 10 minutes during week one, but increased for week 2. Am on week three and am still on 15 minutes. It's all I can manage before trying to get in some housework before the baby wakes.

I finished Week one after three tries and am ready to start week 2. I have joined a gym with the idea that if I have to pay for it, I'll use it. So far, it has worked. I have worked my way up from 10 minutes on the treadmill at 2 mph to 25 minutes at 3 mph with a 20% incline during the last 10 minutes to get my heart rate up. I'm having trouble keeping my heart rate in the target zone without jogging on the treadmill, then it goes over target and I have to stop jogging. I can jog for almost a minute before my heart rate shoots up way past target. Anyway, I just started working the upper body last night and started out very slow with shoulder extensions, back extensions, and pulls (I'm not sure what to call them, but you sit down, lean forward and pull back on the handles to lift the weight.)

It also took me this much time to get used to drinking 8 cups of water a day, but I finally made it. I keep a liter bottle filled with cold flavored water and drink two of them a day in order to get my water quota. (Two liters doesn't seem as much to drink as 8 cups of water, but it's actually over 8 cups! Mind games. emoticon )

My next accomplishment will be sticking to my caloric intake by sticking with the menus given to me by SP. I've talked my kids into joining me in partaking of these healthy meals and they have agreed. (my youngest has been after me to start cooking healthy, so she was the first to agree.) Now if they don't turn their noses up at fish and cottage cheese. emoticon

I haven't lost any weight this week, but I have only just begun. I haven't been sticking with my caloric intake and have been skipping meals. I hope to do better now that I'm okay with the water and exercise routines. emoticon

walked, yoga, equipment-free core exercises, free weights which are canned beans, Saturday gardening & heavy housework to finish week2

Day 13, wow almost 2 weeks done and I'm keeping up with it. Managed to get in 14 minutes today even with the sad weather. Need to keep the workouts varied.

I'm 5'8" and determined to make a change now. Ten minutes of fitness daily. Too many times I've fallen off the wagon, time to make long lasting positive habits stick. Can I do it?!

On day 12 now and I feel really good. It's getting easier to get my 10 minutes or more into my days. Week 2 is looking like a very positive one even with the rain. I'll still get my 10 minutes in.
I can use this to really train for my October 5K and get my time down to 30 minutes.

Well! Hi Lovenwoods! Who Knew? Glad to see you here.

OK!!! It took me almost two months to check off Week One. I walk at least 3 times a day. I have never included that as "exercise", although I can often fall back on it as my ten minutes. However, I can now announce to myself as well as everyone else I am back on the stationary bike, doing stretches before bed, and have a great video I am memorizing. But my fall back is the time I spend at night doing a routine of stretches before bed. This is the accomplishment I am most proud of because although some say its not good to exercise before bed, it has the opposite effect for me. My body is relaxed, recognizes used muscles and hopefully is doing a lot of work during the night's sleep. I wake up sometimes a little pained but in a very good way. I am READY TO MOVE forward. Have a great day Team! I finally get to check that box!

Today I start week 2. The idea of only 10 minutes of activity is an excellent one. I feel proud that I accomplished at least 10 minutes every day for a week, and usually did 30 or more minutes. Most of my activity was on the Wii. Yesterday was 3 hours doing yard work and achieving 10,000 steps on the Fitbit. Now I feel ready to do more and today will start training for a 5K (walking). Life is good!

For my week two challenges I have chosen:
1. Take the stairs. Skip the elevators, escalators and other "people movers" and move your own body. You'll burn calories and avoid lines in airports, malls, and offices. and
2. Cultivate a garden. Planting, watering, pruning and caring for a garden relieves stress, beautifies your home, and increases your daily activity..

Ways I add random acts of fitness into my life are: I always park very far away from the door of wherever I am at, I hand wash my dishes most of the time. Warmer weather is coming, so gardening will be happening, as well as hang drying clothes.

Some days I am only able to do stretches, other days seated exercises, and limited walking on other days. Yesterday was about an hour of physical therapy. It's pretty early today and I am just getting started but my knees are feeling a bit better today, so I will be walking around the house and see how it goes. I will be getting a treadmill soon so that should make getting my steps in easier.

And, at the beginning of my 2nd week, I was able to go on a 5 hour hike, so kind of above and beyond for day 1. Some days last week I wasn't able to do much more than a quick 10 minutes with my resistance bands before bed though, and I'm sure I wouldn't have accomplished that without being in this group!

The journey is the destination. Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

I just started week 2, and actually DID walk for at least 10 minutes for 5 days last week! I find that this team actually keeps me accountable, just by being a part of it!

Yay for motivating spark teams!

OMG I thought I was the only one doing that lapping around the house before bed to get in those extra few steps. Good for you.

My goal was to do the Boot Camp daily...unfortunately was hit with a doozer of a virus that lasted all week and I just didn't have the umph needed. However, I found I could still do the Gazelle, and I made myself do that daily, which helped me reach my 10,000 steps. (I've been known to do laps around the house before bed, just to get those last few steps in!!)

Chronic pain makes movement difficult, but not impossible. On days when it hurts too bad to stand, sometimes I do some chair dancing or other seated exercises. There are even a few I can do in bed if I'm having a really bad day. The most important thing is to get in some sort of exercise/movement every day even if it isn't as much as I would like.

I look for more ways to move. Sometimes I just break into a little dance or hop skip around a little. Works wonders for the spirit. I also make sure I get my 45 minutes of strength training in 3 times a week. I have been good about this for over 2 months now. I teach a senior exercise class on Mon and Weds so this keeps me moving - even when I don't feel like it.

Week 2 was the hardest so far. Did not feel well, physically or emotionally, so it was all I could do to make 10 minutes of walking around most days (a couple of days I did much better). Sticking with it though because I know this will pass and I will be all the better from pushing through.

I installed a step tracker on my phone but would like to get a fit bit at a later date. I have started walking 30 minutes a day plus riding my stationary bike for 20 minutes. I am also working on strength training every other day.

Starting Week 2 today - looking forward to more walking and adding in new things. I actually already do quite a lot of the ideas on the list - so I am going to try adding: Working out while at my work desk & Tune-in to your body.

Well, after a minor setback from doing way too many skater squats (ouch), I have gotten back on track. I have incorporated walking the dog, and dancing all the time, in addition to my daily walking routine. Loving the motivation, help and support.

I'm happy to say I'm sticking with the plan. Doing really well with the nutrition and the calories. Have been getting in exercise 6 days a week. Pushing myself to do a little more on the treadmill, a little faster, a little longer. Glad to be part of the team.

I've been building myself up to exercise at least 30 mins a day, which I am doing pretty well on and is losing weight also. But recently I've been thinking about ways I could get in more since I am at home most of the time.

I do my house work and make it work for me instead of me working for it. I usually watch TV before bed and I like to color. I have a couple of great coloring books. It helps me to distress the day away by focusing on something else.

However, I am now looking for a nice "stretching and relaxing" exercise that can help me sleep through the night, maybe?

I want to increase to an hour a day of exercising that counts and matters.

I am doing exercises in the morning (no one is more surprised than I am). Pushups - my shoulder got weak. Plank - again, for shoulders and abs. I'm looking for a good lower-back strengthening exercise; I tried Superman and while I'm apparently more flexible now, it doesn't seem to be helping the lower back.

I am also walking up one floor and taking the elevator up to my 5th floor office. People who see me on the ground floor look at me funny, but it's one more flight.

Will be working this week to visit people instead of picking up the phone - and since they're rebuilding our restrooms, my longstanding thought that I should use the restroom on another floor is something I now have no choice about.

For the last 2 days, I have been waking up before the kids to work out on the treadmill and do my Spark video. This has helped me to limit the excuses in the evening - if I do more exercises in the evening, then those would be a bonus!

I have been walking my dogs twice a week, I know that is not daily but it is an improvement over what I was doing. I have a large yard and they are small dogs, so they get plenty of exercise.

At work on my 15 minute breaks I take 10 minute walks around the building.

I have chronic pain, so its hard some days just to move. But I find that by just doing a little bit here and a little bit there, it can add up and help me be stronger.

I've been having a very difficult time with this challenge due to my PTSD, emoticon and the goal I set for myself of doing 90 minutes a day, 3X more than I was really used to doing. But I did it! emoticon And I'm proud of myself for staying with it. Because I've been having night terrors, which are the really bad nightmares that people with PTSD get, and my sleep schedule has been all messed up, it's been all over the map! emoticon But I did my exercise, and I am so glad. It's really a bright spot right now in my life, knowing that I'm building up my fitness level. emoticon Anyway, just to let everyone know, there's a SparkTeam called PTSD that's been giving me support, and you should definitely check it out if you have that or know someone who has it and would like help to support them with their issues. This is a good team! emoticon

Like I said, I've been having difficulty with my schedule. I always exercise after I've gotten enough sleep, to help prevent any injuries. And I make sure that a meal is in me. emoticon And then I'm off! emoticon I can do it. I set a timer for 1 hour. emoticon Then when that goes off, I set it again for a half hour. It's super easy that way, to just do it all in one chunk of time. That's been helping me. It relieves a lot of tension to know I'm done. emoticon

You wanted 2 creative ways I'm working in activity:

1) I'm exercising in my pajamas! Yay! I can do that because I'm exercising in the house, so it works. emoticon

2) I'm also using my slippers! Which I don't really like to do, but my walking shoes are dirty and I haven't had a chance to hand wash them like I would like. But I figure it's better than not getting in my workouts and it's like one of those shoes with minimal soles that they have out now. emoticon

Week 2
Had a great time today doing my weekly shopping. Instead of only walking down aisles that contained items I needed, I walked the whole store 3 times. Over 4000 steps.

Also made it to work early during the week to walk the halls before my shift started.

For my week 2 exercise, I didn't let snow bother me. I traded my walking shoes in for water-proof hiking shoes and went for a walk on a beautiful snowy trail. I was the only one and it was so peaceful.

Sadly I crashed the car yesterday, if you can even call it that. Anyway I had issues getting stuff done yesterday, I did stay active, but not on what my intended activities were. The upside to not having a car is that now all of my errands must be done by bike! I used to bike everywhere and do everything by bike. When I moved to Cali I slumped, due to lack of people to go do stuff with and depression from being evacuated out of Africa and returning to a less than ideal living situation. I have since moved into a new place but my partner leaves his car with me during the week to get stuff done. I have ventured out on bike several times but when I just want to go get something done fast I cop out! Now I am being forced to use my bike and you know what? It is amazing!

Week 2-
I am prone to injury, so I dealt with yet another injury!
I added the 10-minutes from days that I missed to the following time I worked out - as per my plan.

I also walked a lot.

I have found daily consistency with the thought of always moving in everything I do. I now don't like sitting down for too long. I find myself standing up or moving while I am doing something. For instance I rocked, squatted, and toe touched the whole time while washing dishes by hand.... 45m! Most of my intended "just do something for 10m" end up to be 20-30m.

I have found that if I use a video I am familiar with, I can turn the volume down and then do some aerobic activity while watching TV. This only works if you are pretty much home alone, but since I am currently unemployed it works well for me. I even danced my way through the last Football game. I got a ton of minutes and steps in that way.

Week 2 has been difficult for me. I've managed to hit the 10 minute minimum, but some days just barely. I'm hoping to do some strength training tonight and Zumba tomorrow, but then I'll be traveling for 2 days with a packed schedule for business.

Any advice on exercise in an airport?

My week 2 has been a bust so far. Only able to squeeze in one day out of 3 thus far-long hours at work plus hubby was out of town so that throws off my sleep. I know this is important to keep me on track for maintaining my loss - so I hope to recover starting today emoticon

Walked on the treadmill at least 20 minutes each day week 2. I didn't do the yoga I had planned on as I had a terrible cold and decided it was better to wait. I did walk a little faster than the 3 mph I did the first week.

Wise choices each day will get me where I want to be.

Finished Week 2 and feeling pretty good. The my time on the exercise bike has increased and I'm getting some walking/treadmill time in too. I also started going back to the gym 2x a week. Plan to add some yoga and try and get the gym visits up to 3x a week.
