KARENINMA you sound like you have a plan with walking 10 minutes a day. If your fibromyalgia starts bothering you think about doing chair exercises. You can still get a good workout from those exercises. SparkPeople has several videos of chair exercises.

ZPOST72 you are doing an excellent job. Walking a mile and doing the boot camp is great. Keep up the great work.

WANDERINGCUPPA 10 minutes can sound like a lot when you have not been doing anything so work up to it. Start small with maybe 5 minutes and work your way up to 10 minutes. Doing something is better than doing nothing. As I told KARENINMA, if your fibromyalgia and RA start really bothering you try chair exercises. SparkPeople has a lot of videos on these. You are off to a great start.

my goal is to just start moving more. 10 minutes a day sounds reasonable and something I can actually do :)

Like someone else posted, I am hoping that getting moving will help with my Fibromyalgia and RA...

I did my 10 minutes of walking then went to Publix and walked some more on Wednesday. But then I started feeling fatigued at work. I had to stay there til 9. I baked cookies too. Maybe I did too much in one day

I'm setting a goal of increasing me walking and doing it at least 5 days a week. I'm around the 7000 steps mark and want to get to 10,000 a day. Thanks for the challenge and the chance to get support from others.

Thanks Vanessa - bike ride this morning was so beautiful - fortunately I have an Ipod with some great music - helps with the same mile over and over again.
My garmin is also helping to keep me going with the walking but have not identified a 'purposeful walk' yet. Getting the steps in but really want to intentionally make a 10 minute walk that new habit.

November was totally off plan and went from 600 bike miles to 200 - however, I did not gain any weight - so the other activities I fit in seemed to have made a difference - now that I plan to be back on track - December should be a great month.

JERZGURL_NAN keep up the good work. That's the way to do. Keep doing the same routine every day until it becomes second nature. Once it does become second nature, you may want to change it up some so it has a different flare to it. You are doing wonderfully though.

Been here for 4+ months and have been biking or working out at the gym almost every morning as soon as I get out of bed.

My goal is to cultivate this new habit and to make sure it it EVERY morning - even if it means 10-15 minutes of weights in the house.

Also want to make it a habit to purposely walk 10 minutes Every day!!

ZPOST72 keep up the good work. That is the same thing I do is walk 10 minutes a day. If I can't walk outside, I know I can walk around my house for 10 minutes or even walk in place for 10 minutes watching TV.

MAIZENBLUETRU keep up the good work. Just getting in your 10 minutes a day is great. It doesn't matter what you do as long as your doing some type of activity for 10 minutes. If you cannot think of anything, try walking. It is always good to fall back on.

KHEGLAW once you start it gets easy. You just have to keep telling yourself it's only 10 minutes and before you know it you have done your exercise for the day. As you get comfortable with the 10 minutes, you will start doing 10 minute intervals 2 to 3 times a day. You will do great.

CUSOCCERMOM you are doing great. Walking to work and then home is wonderful. You know you will get in at least two 15 minute intervals for the day. Sometimes we have to push ourselves a little more to get in those 10 minutes on Saturday and Sunday. You may just want to walk around the house on those days. You are doing wonderfully.

SO getting 10 minutes of exercise is easy most days. I walk to work and it's 15 minutes each way...with it being cold out there now-27* this morning, my walk was extremely fast.
Saturday and Sunday are not so great for me getting in those 10 minutes in a row.
We just have to keep trying

After many bouts with major illnesses and injuries, mysterious symptoms and troubling diagnoses, I got tired of feeling sorry for myself. I got back on the horse, so to speak and started walking again. Found out that I started this very challenge over two years ago and wasn't able to complete it then. Well, this time, I'm going to strive for not only consistency, but completion. Even if I have to lift something from my bed, I'm going to do this!!!!! emoticon

After a short illness, I'm still feeling pretty fatigued. So instead of going straight back to 30 min walks 4-5 days a week, I'm going to just start with 10 min. of any cardio exercise every day. This will be my minimum, if I'm able to do a little more, I will.
I'd like some help. I'm having trouble making myself start exercising on these days that I feel so tired. I'd love some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I am taking this challenge because I need to push forward & "down the scale". I do a lot of cardio while teaching water aerobics and swim lessons. I am challenging myself to do at least 10 minutes a day of cardio.. JUST FOR ME! I am looking forward to pushing myself to get this done.

Exercise 10 minutes per day FOR DAWN (on top of the other fitness daily)
Track all fitness & food

I am starting over! I can do this, and I have no idea why I can't seem to knock this simple thing out--maybe it's too simple and I just keep putting it off thinking I'll do it later. Recommitting today and starting my month over!

I'm going to walk or do some other structured exercise for a minimum of 10 minutes per day.
I'm going to continue drinking at least 10 glasses of water (not hard for me)
I'm going to make sure I increase my veggie/fruit intake by 1 per day.

End of week edit: made it through week 1, yay!
had a small weight loss (very small)
but I reorganized my life to fit in 10 minutes a day of physical activity, which is something really big for me.
I'm going to keep working on that to try to make it a habit.
Thanks everyone!

Hello all...
my goals
10 little minutes a day... let's see if I can get this done!

I did stretching today as my activity... I can hardly move, what an awful feeling.
Even the longest journey starts with a single step, so here I am taking my first steps.

Glad to see everyone here with such great goals and attitudes. I'm sure some will rub off on me.

I initially started the challenge 5 years ago, but I allowed "life" to get in the way. Now I'm back and more focused. I'm the girl who thought 10 minutes wasn't worth the effort, so I've read Chris' mini book, and now I'm ready to commit to at least 10 minutes a day. I already started walking my dog again. We go about a mile or so at a "sniffing" pace, so it's not really aerobic, but it's his enrichment time. My goal is for both of us to continue this but do it twice--once for him to read all the neighborhood "pee mails," and once at a more robust pace for both of us to get some real exercise.

I still feel like I need to list half a dozen other goals, but I have to learn one thing at a time. :-)

Hi all! I am excited to start using SP again, and I love this challenge!
I think a good 10 minute workout can be a great way to try new things and get a feel for what your favorite types of workouts are! My goals for this week is to exercise everyday, and try different things like sparkpeople workout videos, creating my own aerobics workouts, and training my muscles with my new kettlebell.

I can not run, so definitely no marathon for me.
I am focusing on walking every day and hope - eventually - to move to a slow jog.
I have trouble breathing when I jog or run. I hold my breath till I go back to about
3 mph walk. I hope to be able to do a 5K / 3.1 mile walk/jog in the near future.

Though I am training to run a marathon, I am not counting those running days as my 10 minute of exercise. I am doing this challenge to get me back in the habit of doing my strength training I need for the marathon training. My goal is to make sure I get those in each week.

The fitness trackers suggest that 500 minutes is a good monthly goal to strive for... I believe I get more activity in that I realize a lot of times. During the day I am for the most part stuck behind a deskt, but in the evenings I'm up moving around pretty much constantly. I'm on a register, bagging grocery, pushing buggies, cleaning... When I'm home, I'm usually bopping around to my random playlists, cleaning, chasing pets, gardening, you name it... Never really been one who can sit idle to long without fidgeting. Don't do it as often as I should but, when I can I like to walk along the path at the park down the road from the house and just enjoy being outside. Sometimes I'm not really sure how to go about logging/tracking my activity is probably what hinders me from doing so, but that is my goal to start getting it tracked and adding to it.

I love the encouragement that is brought here it helps to continue on. To do just a little bit of exercise every day is better than not doing any at all. I continue to challenge myself to do at least 30 minutes of active exercise 6 days a week and 2 also do 10 minutes as well so if I cannot get 30 minutes in at least do 10 minutes. But I am challenging myself 6 days a week to do 30 minutes of active exercise and to be active 10 minutes a day everyday if that makes sense that is my goal for me

My goal is to exercise for 10 min. 5 days per week. I'm hopping this is an easy enough goal to meet every week and grow from there.
