Since my husband passed away a year ago I have pretty much just sat around. The only exercise that I have done has been therapy after my knee replacement, which I had done a couple of months after my husband passed. In the last ten months I have gained 15 pounds. My goal is to do at least one 10 minutes of exercise a day. I know that I can do that and more because I'm at home all day most days. Next week may be harder because I'm going out of town with my church but I plan on doing at least 10 minutes a day while I'm gone.

Just signed up for this challenge. My goal over the next few weeks is to start and complete Leslie Sansones Walk it off in 30 Days DVD. And also work in some strength training.
Track my food and workouts. Hopefully I'll be 5-10lbs lighter at the end.

My lifestyle is sedentary, but I hope to change that a bit. So far I am able to have stamina for 30 minutes straight of cardio without too much stress on my joints (I am fairly heavy.) I aim for continuing 30 minutes a day of exercise! Wish me luck! emoticon

A combination of physical obstacles and 'no time' have me increasing my sedentary habits. I need to re-establish a fitness lifestyle. I thought that a commitment of 10 minutes a day was very doable. My goal for week one is a minimum of 5 days of 10 minutes. I will also use the tracker to keep myself informed of my progress.

Argh! This isn't going very well. Very hectic week including car issues, husband going out of town on short notice, birthday, and news that my job is being cut. On the plus side, I have NOT OD-ed on comfort food though I normally would have, tracked my meals and snacks, and maintained a good attitude as best I could. I think I'm going to redo Wk 1 and aim to do better the next time around.

I plan to start with a goal of 10 minutes each morning with the idea of moving to 10 minutes each hour during the work day and walking at least 3.1 miles. My food goals are to add more veggies in my diet, cut down on my meat consumption and add more fruit in my day. I also have a goal to drink one cup an hour.

The ultimate goal in all of this is to lose 40 lbs in 5 months.

ONE MINUTE AT A TIME!

My goal is to lose 10 pounds and keep it off. Started going to the gym yesterday and managed to put in 40 minutes on the elliptical machine. I would love to stay consistent this time around so i believe a small goal of 10 minutes a day should help me stay motivated!

My Goals for this challenge are to reach 160lbs and get my lip pierced. A lose of 15lbs.

My goal for January was to develop a consistent exercise routine and I have happily been successful. I also completed a 30 day workout challenge yesterday so I was exercising 7 days a week with the strength training exercises in the challenge.

My new goal is to continue to exercise 6 days a week with cardio (30 minutes) and include strength training 3 times a week. I also want to switch up my workout routine more.

Week 1 goal is to get up & move. It can be cleaning the house, going to the gym, taking a walk, or anything else that comes to mind. I don't care as long as I'm moving and staying within my caloric boundaries. This is my crossroads year & I'm choosing health. I've spent the last 3 years putting on "happy" pounds with my husband. Happiness is not found in my achy joints and tight clothes. It's time to stop thinking & talking about it. It's time to actively take part in the reconstruction of my body. It's time to start investing in the skin I'm in.

Well, here I am in my first week of the 10-minute daily exercise team! I have not had many troubles starting a challenge, but finishing. I have to say though that with all the interesting links on this website, I have not been bored finding 10 min programs to do, and that has always been my problem. I think I have found the right program finally to tie everything in; diet, exercise, member support and, of course, VARIETY!

It is now 2 years since my last baby. Baby weight excuses went out the window when I stopped breastfeeding nearly a year ago. My boss actually got me moving bc she suggested running the C25K program with her 3 times a week. It turned out to only work one day that week, but I got the app myself and just completed week 1 yesterday. emoticon

I just need to get into the habit of exercise daily.. I to have balance and strength issues, Use a walker at home and a cane when I leave the house. I to need to do chair exercises.

my main goal is to get my strength back... I had a car accident in april and injured my back and hip.. I am using a walker and cane... I will be starting slow with chair exercises and build up to not relying on walker

I am starting a personal challenge of 10 minutes of exercise a day for 100 days. I will do the exercise every day just before I read the paper. I have my exercise bands to help me mix it up! Happy to be here! Let's go for it!!

Just joined this challenge. My goal is to be consistent with exercise -- at least 5 days a week and 10 minutes a day. I did start working with a personal trainer about 6 weeks ago at the gym, but haven't been consistent with what she has been teaching me to do.

Just read the article about walking 10,000 steps per day. Liked the suggestion about breaking the goal up into 1,000 steps per hour. Going to give it a try. Seems like a great way to get me moving throughout the day.

My goal is to go to the gym 5 times a week and try to work out for at least 10 minutes. I also want to make sure to combine a variety of exercises like cardio, strength, and stretching.

My goal is to do at least 10 minutes a day. I have a stationary bike that incorporates the arms into the exercise, so it is pretty much a all over routine. I also have a goal to join a gym for strength exercise. Until then I will work with what I have at home.

emoticon My ultimate goal is to walk 10,000 steps a day. Short term is walk around the block once a day. Moving on to 1/4 mile once a day, then to twice a day, adding 1/4 mile until I reach 1 mile a day 4 x's a day. I don't do it very fast because of my balance issues, but my goal is to gain strength and walk more rapidly. emoticon

Still working on getting a workout in early in the morning. Today I didn't work out per se, but I did go grocery shopping and got almost 2,000 steps on my fitbit at the grocery store. I feel good about that. At least I wasn't sitting in my chair drinking coffee which I am used to doing for the first hour after I wake up.

My goal is to try to exercise the ten minutes everyday and increase it to thirty minutes over time. I am looking to enhance my healthy lifestyle changes and to change a few bad habits in my life. I want my family to see that eating healthy and working out is important in ones life and that you can do it. Good luck to all who feel the same way about this.

Well I started back on Sparkpeople again after two years. And I am starting the 10 minute work out too. I did some stretching and walking and step today. I am starting baby steps until I can master the 45 minute video I have. I can't do what I used to do before. My goal is to be able to at least a 30 minute workout by next year. I am going to start going to the centre to use the thread walker and what ever else they have. I know I can do this. I did before. And I am proud that I am on the right track again. Thanks to spark people for their emails and challenges. And the feedback that everyone gets from each other.

OK, I am attempting to get more involved in Spark People and to make myself accountable to ME and to my team.

My 10 minute goal is to do at least a 10 minute workout video each day, or to walk outside (weather permissible).

I have been logging my nutrition for the past two weeks and now it is time to get the physical exercise moving.

Here is to the first week!

Each baby step we take is one step closer to our goal!

My goal for the first week is to get in at least 10 active minutes in the morning after I get up and have breakfast. This is a lazy time of the day for me and I am doing too much sitting before I actually get going for the day. I could put my time to better use if I take a walk or do some physical exercise with that time.

My goal for the first week is to walk or exercise for at least ten minutes daily. I use my Fit bit everyday and love it, even wear my Flex i9n the pool at water aerobics. emoticon emoticon

I struggle exercising now that we moved to the country and I don't have access to the gym. I walk all day at work, so the weekdays are not necessarily a problem. I am waiting on a charger for my Fitbit to track my steps during the week. My goal for the next four weeks is to do a video exercise at least once on Saturday and Sunday and twice during the week. So, that is a total of 4 video workouts plus my normal walking during the week.

Hi, I need some consistency so a four-week challenge looked perfect to get me back in the swing of things. My goal is to do one (or more, if they are short) SP video per day, Monday to Friday, with long walks on the weekend. My family are big walkers so the weekends usually take care of themselves but during the week I need to get myself moving.

I'm on day 7 of my current 10-minute exercise streak and I want to keep going! In the past, I have let myself get too stressed out about exercise. I felt like I had to be all hard-core all the time and I would end up exhausted, burnt-out, or injured, and then give up. For the past year or so I have been focusing on moderation and changing my thinking, being more kind to myself, and letting go of my black-and-white "rules" about fitness and eating. It has made a huge difference in my attitude and I am now ready to incorporate 10 minutes (at least) of movement into my days.

Here are my ideas for 10 minute increments of movement that I would like to do this week:

SP 20 minute resistance band workout
SP 8 minute lower body with band workout
SP 12 minute seated core workout
dancing with my preschool students
bouncing/walking/jogging on mini-trampoline
Gazelle
evening walks with my husband
30 Days of Yoga series by Yoga with Adriene (youtube)

Great goals! Do you have a back up plan if you're not in the mood to go out to the gym or if it's nasty weather? I find that I do better with a back up plan so I don't let myself get away with skipping.
My commitment to the 10 minute challenge is nice. I actually strive for 30 minutes of cardio. But if I'm going to have a super bad day, I'll just do the ten. Then I can pride myself on sticking to it and MAYBE gain some energy and good attitude along with it!
If I don't feel like doing Coach Nicole's arm and shoulder video, I'll just pick up some 1 pound weights and tone with those while reading my emails or spark articles.

I am rather excited today. My nephew just gave us a FREE treadmill. I've always wanted one, though I can't say it looks very nice in the middle of my library. lol

And we all lived happily ever after...

ok, Here are my goals... I was asked/told by doc to do 10-15mins of pilates each day, finding pilates to be very difficult but i still want to *move* for 15 mins a day-(other than walking at work). In week Two I want at least Two of my daily scheduled "moving about" times to be Pilates and increase by one every week or every other week til it is 5 times a week. I want to do something active 6-7 a week. i.e. i won't consider it failure if i skip one day.
