Tomorrow, May 3 is my 3 year Sparkversary! I have learned so much here during that time. I lost 30 pounds and was at goal weight but I put 7 back on but I am at a healthy weight and perfect BMI. I am happy with myself, my weight, my size and how I look. Sparkpeople is a wonderful place to be!

I just finished my third 5k Saturday. It was the first time I ran in 3 weeks thanks to bronchitis! Time to put in some mileage and get my body ready for this 2011 adventure!

I ran for 2 miles at 4.7 mph on treadmill today, then continued for another 1.1 miles varying between 3.2 and 8 mph for a total workout of 42min 47 seconds.
2 miles straight at 4.7 mph is the most I've done in recent memory, so that's my positive!

Thanks, but my 13.8 miles is the total for the week. I do no think I could run 13 miles at once quite yet, but it is the plan. I am following this training program I saw online and it does add about 1 mile each week on average.

I **did not** want to exercise yesterday! I finally turned on Exercise TV and thought the reason I gained weight is because of my excuses. I did 30 minutes of Jillian's Shred and some Yoga. Felt a lot better that I didn't give in!

Yesterday (my weigh in day) I found the scale telling me I gained 3 pounds.
To make myself feel somewhat better, I bought a new pair of jeans (ironic right?!)
Anyways today (first day wearing these jeans) they're loose!!

I started this week with one goal: two run for 30 minutes on Tues, Thursday and Saturday.
I am proud to say - I just completed my Saturday run! I also did the other two, so I'm stoked. :)
But, interestingly enough, the most useful thing I've seen on this site so far is the Calorie Counter. I've never been a calorie counter before, I simply tried to eat healthy and not indulge in too many treats. I already eat LOTS of fibre, fruit and veggies, but couldn't figure out why I wasn't slimming down. After all, I don't eat THAT many treats...
So, this week, I started counting calories. Holy. Moley. This is unbelievable! I was literally astounded by where my calories were coming from - and I know a fair amount about nutrition! So, for the rest of the week, I kept my calories within the recommended range... and the scale has been going down! Within the first week! I didn't expect that at ALL. I know that it will not continue to decrease at this rate, and that's ok... it's just been a great week of learning. Portion size is SO key!
Ok, that's my rant. :) I'm a very happy girl this week. :) I can't wait to share this site with my mom!

My positive for today is that I used the stairs ALL day without cheating and getting on the elevator!! You need a badge to get in the staircase and I had forgotten mine when I went down to the breakroom to heat up my lunch and I asked someone walking by to swipe theirs so I could use the stairs (usually I'd just go get on the elevator!). I only work on the 3rd floor but make lots of trips to both the 1st and 2nd floors daily!

My positive for today is to finally have started (again :0) ) to eat healthier and exercise with a purpose!
I kept to my goal of eating well without going overboard (having one small taste of a friend's ice cream and then buying a Starbucks iced tea instead of saying yes to her offer of a cone of my own!)
