One more thing.
Suz, if you could make the Road Trip and the step conversion chart sticky topics one and two that would be good I think. Thanks

I did it. I set up the Road Trip.
Now one of us just has to travel a mile or two to get us moving.
I am going to go out right now.
How about you, Tishtoes, Suz, Ladybug? Do you have anything to add? or in this case subtract.

Any other team members - Don't wait for an invite just come right in!

Here I am I did 3 mile power walk between getting the house rearranged for my other college kids homecoming. I got a talking to (LOL) from my son about me walking to early in the morning since his bedroom and our living room TV are one and the same wall...hmmm I told him no more bed at 1-3am and I will hold off till 9am to workout...I think we may need a family membership at the wellness center for the summer. The house is a wonderful ranch but no basement...did I mention he is doing the P90X in the middle of the day???...LOL
Gotta love them kids!!!
Rain & Tish thank you for taking this and RUNNING (or walking-LOL)with it...just tell me if I am doing it correct. Log EVERY step we take and exercise with a pedometer correct? I bought another one hope it works better than the Walmart one. Today I will cut it out of the plastic and wear it...
Rain, Ladybug anyone on Facebook??? I will send you my info in a private email.
Tish I added you on Facebook and WOW am I impressed...Do you have anything on the web I can hear (like on YouTube)???
(((HUG)))

Yes, let's start but go ahead and set it up. Should it be a new thread? Or maybe a new thread for each leg???? I really don't know.

Ladybug did not come back with an alternative so I guess B.C. to Bellingham is the plan.
S'allright!
Do we start tomorrow?
We are back in KS and I am ready to start. BUT it is raining crazy, with tornado warnings, so I haven't done any walking today.
Will shake myself up and try to do either walking or a class tomorrow.
Do you want to start the official walk thread TIshtoes?

Repost of suggested start....

We can go from top left corner to bottom right corner.... so.... I propose our trip be from Vancouver, BC (Canada) to Miami, Florida! And we can meander and stop anywhere someone wants along the way. Here is a proposed first leg:

Vancouver, BC to Bellingham, WA = 51.74 miles so let's call it 52 miles. (I Mapquested it)

Of course we should hit Seattle/Tacoma where you can "see" the Sound, "smell" the sea, teehee.

Oh yeah. I forgot the gorge is NORTH of Salem. emoticon
I told you it had been a few years.
We will just have to see when we get there, eh?

Wow you've lived in Bellingham? Cool. I stopped there in a small plane one time on the way back from Abbotsford, BC (been to an airshow).

Portland, OR is my hometown so I know lots of places along the Gorge. Salem is fun and we can go there but it will be backtracking a bit to go to Portland then through the Gorge, but fine by me! Gorgeous country! We could do the Lewis & Clark Trail backwards! Or hit upon the Oregon Trail backwards too. Whatever. I'm good for everything. Check our training camp. See Suz? We can do 53 miles easy as our first leg. We already have 11 miles with two people.

This will be fun! Thanks for suggesting it to us! I've already got my pedometer out which I wouldn't have actually done. This is motivating! May 10, here we come! WoooEEEEE (or as SP would say... WooHoo).

Your mention of Seattle/Tacoma and smells reminded me -
If we are headed down I-5 between Bellingham and Seattle be sure to bring your nose plugs. There is a pot latch plant (was maybe) along there. PEE EWW!

Let's keep going down that route all the way to Salem Oregon! I lived there 25 years ago. Another lovely spot. Then we can turn and go along the Columbia gorge. Maybe stop for some wind surfing.....

Oops. Getting excited and getting a head of myself here.

Excellent!
I lived in Bellingham - about 15 years ago I think.
A lovely City. A beautiful part of the country.

I thought Ladybug might want to start down on her end.
Ladybug, do you have an alternative start point you would like to suggest? Perhaps a nice beachfront highway to warm us up?

If not I am ready to grab my rain gear and head for the border!

Hi everybody! Since we were talking about going Washington to Florida, I looked at a map yesterday. We can go from top left corner to bottom right corner.... so.... That is a good idea. We want to start with a short stretch I think. But we want each short stretch to add on to the next one so we can see how much can be accomplished by adding short goals together over time.
We need to pick an theme - a kind of story to support the progressive part of the progressive walk.

Hey team members!
Over on the "Let's Talk" board we have been talking about setting up a progressive walk challenge.
The basic idea of a progressive walk is this:
We choose a virtual route that we will "walk" as a team. We choose Start Point/End Point and calculate the distance in between. Each person in the challenge posts (daily, weekly, whatever you like) the number of miles they have walked or biked. The person then subtracts their mileage from the overall total until we reach our "destination"
A virtual celebration ensues! emoticon
Then we choose our next destination etc. etc.
In the other thread we are talking about the theme for our walk.
We have had suggestions such as a coast to coast road trip and a hit every state ramble.
If you want to see what has been discussed so far see "Let's Talk"
If you want to join and/or suggest your own ideas for the walk SPEAK UP right here, right now.
As the title suggests this is just the planning stage.
We will be starting the actual challenge May 10th or 15th.
You can join in anytime!
NOW would be a good time to share your ideas about where our virtual walk will take us.
