Money... one of life's necessities, and in this economy, the cause of much stress for many of us. It's no surprise that, like clutter, the state of our finances can have a direct correlation to our weight or state of health and can be a reflection of our thought patterns, our habits, and, all too often, a mindset of chaos, disorganization, lack of control, and hopelessness.
Here's some food for thought... do you respect your money? Do you squander it? Do you realize the value of it? Do you recognize the hard work you and/or your loved ones put into earning it? Do you have a savings account? Are you setting yourself up to succeed financially, whether for that rainy day or that spectacular day, or do you take life and its circumstances as they come and "wing it"?
There are no right or wrong answers... there are only YOUR circumstances and YOUR answers.
As part of the FIERCE, FABULOUS & UNSTOPPABLE SPARK WARRIORS' Improve Your Life Series, this week's theme is "$ FINANCES $!"
These mini challenges are designed to help you create a healthy relationship between YOU and money, a relationship free of stress and worry. No matter what your current financial state, I think we can all agree on one thing. Money is essential for our survival and is the one commodity most of us always could use more of, especially in today's economy.
This week's mini challenges are designed to create a smart start to financial empowerment!
Suggested mini challenges include:
1) CALL ALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANIES/CREDITORS AND REQUEST TO HAVE YOUR INTEREST RATES DROPPED. (If you can afford to do without your credit card, ask for a payment plan of 60 months at 0% interest in exchange for your closing your account. Given today's state of affairs, most creditors are more than willing to do this because they'd rather get paid SOMETHING rather than a possible nothing resulting from rampant bankruptcies.)
2) VISIT SPARKSAVINGS.COM AND CREATE YOUR OWN VIRTUAL DAILY SAVINGS JAR (Then be sure to create an actual savings jar at home. The balances should always coincide.)
THIS IS YOUR PERSONAL SAVINGS JAR... You can attach a reward to it, something that you'll do or buy for yourself once you reach your short-term, mid-term, or long-term weight loss goal; you can designate it as any type of savings jar you'd like and set whatever amount of deposits however often you'd like; you can forego that cup of gourmet-to-go-morning coffee and toss your savings into your jar; you can create MULTIPLE jars, each with a specific purpose in mind. The point is to get you in the habit of saving money. Most of us get paid and pay our bills and pay nothing to ourselves. All that accomplishes is to make us feel deprived, frustrated, and as if we're "bill" slaves.
TODAY that stops. You need to feel like you are in control; you need to have a reserve for whatever it is that you never seem to have the money for. Make it a priority, make it a goal, and just like those weight loss pounds that you track, start tracking your savings. Or maybe you already have a healthy relationship with money and have lots of it... Either way, dig deep... think about what it is that would make your life easier... Is it a Holiday Presents Fund? A Vacation Fund? Summer Camp for the kids? Is there a project you'd love to pursue, a book you'd love to write, but need a good six months of salary saved up?

JUST START GETTING YOURSELF MENTALLY PREPARED TO HAVE A HEALTHIER RELATIONSHIP WITH MONEY AND READY TO BECOME PROACTIVE IN BETTERING YOUR FINANCIAL CONDITION...
