Obliques is my fav! I always do it twice, because I skip the leg extension. It kills my arthritic knees!

My absolute worst machine is the pec dec :( I so struggle with that one, never seeming to get past the same number of reps. My best machine is the squat, I have strong legs and can whip them out faster and lower (better range of motion) than anyone I have seen..

When one door closes, I simply look for another to kick down! Starting over isn't a crime, its Life!

I use Curvesmart

My favorite machine is the leg press. I usually dread the squat machine..I'm always breathing extra hard when I finish with it.

The machines and the boards are fine, but currently until my lower back and my legs get stronger, the squat is not easy. I plan to resume when my back feels better. I know that machine has good advantages.

I have only been twice but the one I have the most trouble getting on is the leg press. I have to help my legs and feet to get in that position.

I also dislike the dip shrug. I have to tell myself "I love this machine" over and over! I guess if you know you hate the machine and think about that while you're doing it, your results aren't as great. So I have to give myself a reminder on how much I love it! emoticon

Squat isn't so bad when you only have to do it a couple of times. However.... my club has it set up so you do it four times in each workout. (They have two machines...evil people) I would have to agree with a previous poster about the Dip Shrug thing though. THAT one is probably the most annoyingly difficult one. That being said, I will just hope that my arms take on a great shape. :)

My fav would probably be the Lateral Lift. People look at me like I'm crazy when I'm on there because I really work it and sometimes start tilting it over a little. lol :)

Jack Sparrow: "Thank goodness for that. 'Cause if I wasn't this would probably never work."

You all know what's great about the Squat don't you? It keeps you in shape for squatting and you know how important squatting is don't? It's how we sit. Sit on chair, sit on the pot! We all have to do it! LOL.

I think that my favorite one is the leg curl/extention and my least favorite would have to be the squats. I have bad knees so that one is tougher for me because of having to support all my weight. Maybe once I loss weight my knees will get better.

I have arthritis in my knees and the Squat is the machine I have the most difficulty with.
My favorite machine is the shoulder press. It works all the muscles I need for a strong golf swing.

The dip/shrug machine isn't listed on the Curves site, but if you have access to MyCurves.com you can see the machine. You basically stand up and grab a bar in front of you and lift it up and down from your waist to about as high as your armpits.

Here is a link to an article that has a picture of the machine (I just did a yahoo search, don't know this club myself). You'll need to scroll down the article a bit to see the women standing on the machine - it's the 4th picture down.

I went to the Curves site and looked at all the names of the machines, and don't find it.

I don't like the one where you are sitting and you spread you leg out and back in. No matter how fast I pull it back in I can't get it to turn green(on the smart system). I don't really have a fav machine but if I had to pick it would be the leg press machine. That one feels so good in my legs

Sometimes there is a love/hate relationship for the same machine. The dip shrug is that for me, or at least it was at one time. I used to have pain doing it, but when it first came out I was either told to do it wrong or they changed the way it was done because people were having problems because of it.
Knees soft not locked and feet shoulder width apart. Don't rock forward, use your back muscles with your abs engaged to hold yourself upright. Then lift and push with your arms, not your back.
Why do I love it? That's simple, at 56 gravity has taken it's toll on the bust. I had to spend prolonged time away from my home Curves and use another one that had the dip shrug before we got ours. I started using it and in the 3 months that I did I could notice a real lift to my bust. When I went back home where I didn't have the machine I started to lose some of that lift. I was very happy when we got it a few months later.

I hate the squat machine! Partly because I have a bad knee, but mainly because I am lazy. But, I know if I don't do it I will regret it when I'm thin with an untoned ass and thighs! lol

I'm not sure what my favorite is called... I like the machine where you pull the bar down from above your head and push it up again. I like it because I can really feel it in my muscles.

TSUKUSENAI - the dip shrug is not at all clubs. You stand on the platform and grasp the horizontal bar with your hands. With elbows out, you move the bar up and down, chest to belly (or so - not a huge movement).

My least favorite is the Squat machine (so I try to start near that and get it over with). It's probably the best one for me, but I hate it.

My favorite is the hip abductor/adductor. Really helped with toning.

(Actually my favorite machine is the last one I'm on...the new Smart machine program really kicks my behind and I'm so happy when that last machine lights up, blinks, and says END!!)

I love stretching, too...I do the stretches right before bed, too...they loosen me up and calm me down.

What is the dip shrug that has got everyone off to a good start ? emoticon

My least favourite is the Recovery Stepper - because I feel that I am trudging through deep sand.

My favourite (at the moment) is the Shoulder Press/Lat Pull because it's a challenge to push up as hard as I pulled down.

Here are pictures of some of the machines:

There seems to be a consensus here and I'm going to add to it: the dip shrug. Am lucky though, the new Curves I transferred to has limited space and doesn't have it - and I don't miss it a bit!!!

My least favorite is the one I hurt my back with. I don't know the name of it, but you stand up straight and pull the handle up with both hands and then push down. This machine put such a strain on my back, that I developed sciatica.
My favorite machine is the leg press.

Least favorite: dip shrug. It's just unnatural to me, and I don't have a lot of upper body strength. Second least favorite: lateral lift because I just don't feel it - it feels pointless to me.

Favorite: probably a tie between the bicep/tricep and the leg press. I rock on those!

I'm okay with the squat. That's probably my third favorite. ;)

Ever wonder if everyone hats the Squat machine or if it is just you?

Well, here's your chance to share with everyone which are your favorite and least favorite machines - and why?

Here are the official names of each machine (and my brief attempt to describe a few that weren't obvious):
Squat
Ab/Back
Hip Abductor/Adductor
Chest/Back (pull back on handles)
Leg Extension/Leg Curl
Shoulder Press/Lat Pull (pull down on handles)
Leg Press
Biceps/Triceps
Pec Dec
Oblique
Glute (single leg kick back)
Lateral Lift (stand up, side to side)
Dip Shrug
Recovery Stepper
