I started Spark in an effort to find a new me. I didn't like the way I felt or looked. Last year, I had a miscarriage. After being sick and depressed for 3 months, I had gained 15 pounds! I had tried several different ways of losing the weight, but none of them had worked. Every time I looked in the mirror I was reminded of that trial. Last week, I read an article on Yahoo and decided to check out SparkPeople. I wanted to feel better, look better, and leave the past in the past and it looked like SP could help.
In just over a week, I have learned to balance meals, keep track of calories, drink lots of water, and exercise. I also created a reward plan and printed it out to hang in a spot where I will see it every day.
For every 5 pounds I lose, I will get myself a small reward. I love reading and crafting so I alternated buying a new book and buying new craft supplies. I also set mid-way and final rewards. At the mid-way, my hubby and I will have a romantic date without our children. I still have not set my final reward. Because of our financial situation, I tried to keep my goals below $20. I will have to save up some money to spend on my BIG reward. I am thinking about buying new clothes as my final reward, because by then, I will need them! I am getting a lot of support from other SP members, family, and friends. It has been so easy! I'm already having less health problems and feeling better.
We all deserve a treat for taking the step to improve our health and our lives. Find small pleasures that you can use to reward yourself for every 5 pounds, every week of eating well, or every clothing size you drop. I am so glad to be part of the SP team!!! :)
