I deserve a treat because I'm an optimist trying to keep my chin up during a challenging time in my life. I'm a New Year's resolutioner who joined Spark in preparation for 2011 - since then I have lost 30.8 pounds, competed in my first 5k, and been named a Spark Motivator. Within the past week, my world has been turned upside down: unexpected legal trouble and debt, a baby niece who had open heart surgery, I put notice in at my job - and then I found out that I'm expecting. Trying to face the challenges ahead with my new Spark mentality - focusing on two things every week that I can tackle and accomplish, instead of looking at the big picture and getting overwhelmed.
I plan to treat myself by enjoying simple rewards, forcing myself to slow down and enjoy my "alone time" and time with my husband. I would love to take an overnight trip to a bed and breakfast in Cape May, NJ, and lollygag around the town - read a book on the beach, take a carriage ride, and enjoy a nice dinner.

What a journey! Lost the baby weight in 20 days, maintained for 4 months, then lost my way for 2 months. Clawing my way back to the starting line. Only gained 6 pounds while away, but feel worse than I have in years. It's not about the scale, it's about me, my overall health, and how I feel. Let's do this!!!
