Wouldn't that be great if we could do that!!!
I am very happy I got up early today and exercised! Yippee !!!! How are the parental units?
Do I recall correctly that you work at a medium security prison as Admin Assistant? Half the patients we have are stopping by to duck out of court or to satisfy a PO the other half just got out and started using drug of their choice immediately. Sometimes it is a sad world. Sal

I'm finding The Spark to be a great tool. Love reading it while I'm on the treadmill. After I finish my first read-through, I'm going to go back to each stage and make sure I complete the action steps. It's hard for me to remember what I'm doing on line with the different stages.

Here's another healthy living tip I'm learning to use. Drink water first! I may be thirsty, or I may be frustrated and ready to pig out. Either way, water is a softer, gentler choice!

I have been trying to ask myself "what are you trying to fill? Heart or stomach?" Unfortunately, the intellect is intact, but not always the will. At least, I only messed up on one meal this weekend! I am SO back on track! She caught me without support and vulnerable today, but not again! I went out and bought "The Spark", so if I can't get online or to my support system (like being alone with the grandkids), I can grab a quick minute or two with the book for inspiration. I bet you that I'll do better!!! That's what the suppport is about...I'm starting to get it!

In the meantime, I went to Mom's, got her calmed down, to the neighbors and apologized, back to Mom's to apologize for apologizing to the neighbors (!). When I got home, I found the article on finding fault, and it reminded me that the support that is needed will be there at exactly the right time! Life is good! Thanks to you for your help and encouragememt!! emoticon

I've just been reading about emotional eating in The Spark. When I first started reading, I thought no - doesn't pertain to me. But guess what? Yeah. emoticon

I especially notice that when I am feeling stress, I don't want to cook. I want to do fast food. Part of it is I'm so focused on the stressors that I can't think what to eat and don't have the energy to cook it. So I'm thinking I better keep some very quick and simple foods on hand. I have found that Morning Star Chick Patties take 1 1/4 minutes in the microwave, and raw carrots and and apple can complete the meal. I try to make it too difficult!

Great idea! I have not lost as much weight as I thought I would have especially since I have been trying to reduce since January. I am however, much more cognizant of when the switch gets triggered. I work with people who are often anxious beyond belief and if I am not careful their anxiety will trigger an all consuming desire to eat anything and everything in sight. I have made great strides in identifying triggers, protecting my self with a Teflon shield :) and I have a plan - eat breakfast, lunch and dinner!!That is so basic and I am embarrassed to admit I would go all day without eating and then have a food fest for the rest of the night. Other actions in my plan include drinking plenty of water, daily meditation, Yoga and exercise.

I'm sorry I didn't think of this before, since as caregivers, we have so much stress & emotions that we deal with in our lives, sometimes people try to deal with their emotions or stress by eating, but anyways, I though it would be a great idea if we could have a place to talk about struggles with emotional/ stress eating and to share tips on how to deal with it in a healthy way.

Thank you to new team member MICHELE_SUE for giving me the idea to start this thread. I appologize that i didn't even think of it earlier!
